Jim Ellis and Eli Acosta welcome industry professionals to Industry Insights to share their knowledge with the next generation of filmmakers.
Today, they have a special guest, Omar Spahi, known for his work on Netflix's Code 8 and other television series such as Ben 10 and Sonic Prime.
Inspired by movies like Children of Men that show how children bring hope into the world, Omar has been motivated to create better stories for future generations through storytelling.
He started writing comic books at Image Comics, where he learned about creating characters owned by creators rather than companies like DC or Marvel comics that do not own all their characters' IPs.
He also wrote episodes for Sonic Prime under guidance from Steve Siegel since there are rules in place when writing an episode within an established intellectual property (IP).
Omar Spahi is the co-founder of CreationStation.tv and is currently heading up an NFT project involving comics. Listen to the full episode to hear his full story!

As a casting director, Samuel Warren is responsible for finding the right actors to bring a script to life. But it's not as simple as just finding someone who looks the part—in order to find the best possible match for each role, Casting Directors need to understand the nuances of each character and what kind of actor would be best suited to the role.
In the latest episode of the Industry Insights podcast, Casting Director Samuel Warren chats with co-hosts Jim Ellias and Elias Acosta about what it takes to be successful in his field.
If you're an indie filmmaker, your ultimate goal is to get your movie in front of as many people as possible. And for many years, Netflix was the much-coveted destination for indie films. But with time, things have changed.
Now, Netflix and most video streaming platforms are focused on high-concept, full-production shows - something that most indie films are not. That’s because this type of content is what drives new subscriptions. Streaming platforms are now creating their own content to drive new subscriptions to their platform.
And indie films can't compete with that.
In this episode of Industry Insights, our interview with Jeff Deverett continues, and we discuss indie film distribution and marketing. Tune in to learn what you need to do to get eyes on your indie film.

He shares his experience, knowledge, and know-how to give listeners an understanding of budgeting for indie films.
