In this 18th Episode (Season 4) Lori and Mary discuss Lori's weekend coaching at the OUA Championships.  They catch up on the news from the curling world last week including the final weekend of Men's provincial playdowns.  Lori and Mary chat about the opening weekend of the Scotties championships: wildcard game results, the distribution of the pools, surprises so far and what happened to the Hot Shots competition?  They also wonder if there can ever be too much curling content and if social media has started to become negative?  Lori and Mary discuss the situation with the Scottish Championships and how the association almost allowed Eve Muirhead to go to the World Championships even though they lost to Sophie Jackson 3 times.  Finally Lori and Mary were honoured to be included on a panel to vote on Canada's Greatest Curlers.  Thanks so much for listening and please enjoy the episode.  Thank you to the following sponsors: JetIce, Asham, CurlingZone and HardLine

Bizarro Brier Starters   What is really going on in Regina?   The 2 Girls and a Game Curling Podcast—No. 1 among all curling pods, we remind you—is back with episode 15 of season 9.   And it’s all about the Brier.   The start of this Canadian men’s curling championship is unlike any other in recent memory. Some favourites are down, and one is completely out (Kevin Koe), while some traditional minnow provinces are in the running for playoff berths.   G1 and G2 try to make sense of it all, with their usual doses of frank talk, dirty talk (!!) and all other kinds of curling talk.   If you’re listening on The Curling News/SI website, a whack of colourful images have been embedded in the media player file to enhance your podcast experience.   Enjoy the episode and stay safe!
Episode 13 of the 2 Girls and a Game curling podcast’s season 10 sees the 2 Girls catching up on that Scotties chaos. Jennifer Jones! Briane Harris/Team Einarson! Vic Rauter! Those danged sensor handles! The uniforms! Burned rocks! If you listen via The Curling News/SI website, you’ll see images embedded in the media player file to enhance your podcast experience. Brier Field Complete

Brier Field Complete

2024-02-1301:10:39

The Girls were in the editing stage of this week’s podcast when the news broke about Jennifer Jones—so they will be discussing THAT on the next show!   Lori and Mary—G1 and G2—are back in the saddle and there is tons of curling stuff to gab about. And non-curling stuff too, like the Super Bowl, golf and a funny story involving Tyler George and John Shuster.   The Brier field is complete with the addition of teams from Manitoba and Alberta; Scotties storylines and Da Girls make their pics; Scottish championships; Canada’s U18 results and more are all on tap in this episode.
Episode 11 of the 2 Girls and a Game curling podcast’s season 10 is in the books and Girl 3—Daryell Nowlan—makes another celebrity appearance.   G1 and G3 run through the latest Scotties news, and there’s a bunch of topics to discuss. The latest men’s provincial results are in and get digested, as well as the Winter Youth Olympics, championships in Japan and Sweden, an upcoming championship in Alberta, the hunt for the men’s final wild card berth in the Brier, and more.   Lori then spends time with 2018 Olympic champion and U.S. curling ambassador Tyler George, who breaks down the just-completed USA Curling Nationals held in a mammoth shopping mall in East Rutherford, New Jersey.   A reminder that each episode includes outtakes and other goodies after the closing theme music has played. You don’t want to miss this episode’s extro; it features the second video of the show, plus a stunning example of the talent of G2, aka Mary.   Did we say videos? That’s right; if you listen via The Curling News/SI website, you’ll see videos and images embedded in the media player file to enhance your podcast experience.   Enjoy the episode and stay safe!

Mary Masters Curling

(The Front Ender’s Union approves)   On an episode which discusses the final Grand Slam event of the season—The Masters—it’s another Masters championship that has the Girls’ attention.   That’s right … episode 8 of season 9 begins with yet another story of curling victory on the ice, this time for G2!   Mary takes us through her all-star squad’s victory while Lori tells us of her latest trials in the mixed doubles discipline.   Next up is the aforementioned Slam event, and all the various storylines—from Ross Whyte making the men’s final (and a reminder of his nude appearance in the Men Of Curling calendar) to Rachel Homan continuing to breathe fire, plus the finale of Italy’s remarkable Team Retornaz.   This week’s Hot Topic is fascinating as on-ice penalties are being considered for future three-player teams!    Next up is the 2G breakdown of Ben Hebert’s latest Sheet Show, and it was certainly memorable. That is immediately followed by Team Bottcher’s Christmas singalong, a World Junior B recap and word from the Nunavut playdowns.   Enjoy the episode, happy holidays and stay safe!

Lori and Mary return with episode 7 of season 9.   In this instalment, the 2 Girls discuss “lean” curling topics, the Canadian Seniors, Tour events and results, a look ahead to Canadian provincial championships, Emma going exclusive, Mary’s Masters and the Team Carruthers lineup change.   Plus “Word of the Year”!   Enjoy the episode and stay safe!
Lori and Mary are back with episode 6 of season 9 and a smorgasbord of curling talk.   First up is a recent catch-up chat with Lori running into some Newfoundland curling stars in Ontario, and Mary revealing the new Super Team she is a member of. She’s more than a member, actually; she’s throwing skip stones!   Event discussion then takes place with the weekend’s European Championships and the Canadian Curling Club Championships, followed by fresh news that a new USA vs Canada “North American” championship has been created for recreational curlers!   Next up are discussions over the Olympic road through Nova Scotia, and the reveal that competitors did in fact approach Sportsnet about not being consulted on Grand Slam format changes. Turns out the players weren’t happy, and changes have just been announced.   What’s left? Various fun and silliness over the Beckham Dance (The Girls want to recruit Jennifer Jones and Brent Laing), and the Curling Legends upload of an old 1997 STOH match featuring our “Baby Girls”!
The 2 Girls are back.   The podcast superstars are back in town for episode 5 of season 9 after G1’s adventures in Swift Current produced a bronze medal for Ontario.   The Girls thoroughly break down the Canadian Mixed championship before tackling the controversial Pan Continetal Championships in Kelowna.   Then it’s on to Pictou, N.S. to discuss all things Grand Slam.   There’s even some David Beckham in there.   Enjoy the episode and stay safe!

If you missed the previous episode with the calendar unboxing, go back and listen … and then feast your ears (and eyes) on the 2G calendar frenzy part II.   Oh wow, Mr. March!   Enjoy the episode and stay safe!
