We were cleaning up around the So Say We All office the other day when we came across the beauty from the vault we’re going to share with you tonight. We've always wanted to have a podcast, and after our first December show in 2009, we actually took a crack at it. The only problem was we had no idea what to do with it after we made it and then it sat on the shelf for the last 14 years. But today’s the day!Learn more about VAMP and all of So Say We All's programs, how to get involved, and how to support at www.sosayweallonline.com. Or go straight to our Patreon and help our New Year start on the right foot.

I know it’s only September, but if you’re familiar to Southern California, you can already feel autumn settling on our southern California landscape. The dirt is starting to smell louder, like boiled peanuts, the cactus flowers bloomed just on time and the bees came back, the crows are flying around like curtains around sundown; it’s a whole carnival. To help get us in the mood for that today, we’re going to play you a show titled, “Season of the Witch,” where you’re going to meet a lovely flock of characters.Featuring: Amanda Qassar, Arianna Remmel, David Schmidt, Shelly DeAngelis, Jennifer Coburn, Elaine Gingery, and Ginger Nocera.*** Learn more and SUPPORT So Say We All at www.sosayweallonline.com ***
We just had a great time collaborating with the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, producing a showcase of true stories created in response to their phenomenal Cecilia Alvarez Munoz retrospective, “Breaking the Binding.”It was so good in fact we wanted to turn it around and put it out so everyone who couldn’t make it in person could have a listen. It’s doubly cool if you’ve seen the retrospective or are familiar with her art, but the stories also stand on their own, and we’re going to run the whole show for you now, uninterrupted.*** Learn more about upcoming live shows, how to get involved, support us, and more at www.sosayweallonline.com ***

Now is our most beloved time of year, the spooky season. which in San Diego is not heralded in by falling autumnal leaves, but the all-powerful Santa Anna, The Red Wind, whipping out of the desert passes dry as a bone before smashing with gale force into the county. Wildfires turn into apocalypses, infants and animals refuse to be calmed, and we remember what Raymond Chandler wrote:“Every booze party ends in a fight. Meek little wives feel the edge of the carving knife and study their husbands’ necks.”In the storytelling business, we try to pull together shows around this time with themes that fit the mood, and so our October episode today is called, “Spirits.”Featuring:Tim WestBrent HannifyLeon DeklebaumLynn CooperKevin ManleyAri KriegerAriana RemmelMentioned in this episode:VoSD Trailer All Hosts

Despite the passing heat wave, you can begin to smell the faintest hint of fall in the air, and that has us all so percolating with anticipation we wanted our next two episodes to reflect our excitement. So we’re going with “That’s My Jam,” a great show all about songs, hobbies, and obsessions that set the stage for big life moments.Featuring: Nas Helewa, Jennifer D. Welcome back to The VAMP Storytelling Showcase on this late summer afternoon from everyone here at So Say We All in San Diego, California. We’re doing part two of “Neighborhood Watch,” today, with three storytellers hoping to wow you. Mentioned in this episode:VoSD Trailer All Hosts
Living in the manicured suburbs of Del Cerro–the Hillcrest of tomorrow I like to think of it as–has really done a number on me. I woke up here one day and realized I had become the guy who yells at cars that drive too fast, and sets out trail cameras to discover which local critter has been getting into the cat food. But the seedy underbelly truly reared its ugly head when I was introduced to the social media website, “Next Door,” which is an online community for absolutely terrified white people to alert their neighborhood to “suspicious persons,” or say horrible things about the little old lady whose terrier made the unforgivable choice to relieve itself on someone’s water-guzzling lawn. It’s a magical way to draft everyone on the block into a militia, and make them targets of suspicion at the same time. It’s a pretty amazing business strategy. So this episode and next we’ll be trying to introduce the antidote to that festering pit of pettiness and paranoia with wholesome, revelatory true stories from our August 2014 Showcase, “Neighborhood Watch.”Featuring:Suzanne HoyemBenjamin HardieJulia MixerMentioned in this episode:VoSD Trailer All Hosts

Support So Say We All during our annual summer fund drive: www.sosayweallonline.com/supportSummer is officially upon us. Here in San Diego, we still haven’t the kind of flattening heat waves or exploding forest fires that wipe whole towns off the map like we have in previous summers. Considering all the other things going on in the country, it’s almost like California understands we’re working with a full plate at the moment and doesn’t want to add to it. Not yet at least. We’ve got a hell of a show that will hopefully take your mind off of all that for the next hour, on the theme of, “Woah, Mama,” a live show debuting just a minute ago in May of 2022–Mother’s Day might have had something to do with our going with it. We’ll hear from Part One’s storytellers today, featuring Laura Preble, Debra Bass, TJ Tallie, and Milo Schapiro. The VAMP Storytelling Podcast is produced by Justin Hudnall.Leslie Furguson was our volunteer producer for the live show.Joe Hudak is our Production manager.Jennifer Corley is our Program Director. And Brent Hannify is our Social Media Manager who gets the word out.All the original music you hear was provided by the inspired Kurt Kohnen of AMFM Music with the exception of our end credits theme, "Blue Little" generously provided by 10:32.Support is made possible by The California Arts Council, The San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture, The Conrad Prebys Foundation, and the supporting members of So Say We All.
