James is the CEO of the Sutton Trust - the UK’s leading social mobility charity. He has over 18 years’ experience working in the charity and education sectors, having previously led the Trust’s £135m bid to set up the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) in 2011. At the EEF, he served as a founding Trustee, Deputy and interim CEO.James is also a trustee of the Centre for Homelessness Impact and a governor of a comprehensive school in the East Midlands, where he lives.

Mike is Head of Patent Portfolio Strategy at Meta. In this role, he focuses on innovations and developments related to the metaverse and Web3. But when away from Meta, Mike is committed to giving back to his community, sitting as Board Chair of Page Turners Make Great Learners in Atlanta and being an active board member of the Georgia Wildlife Federation and the National Counsel on Patent Practicum in the United States.

Margherita is a barrister at Doughty Street Chambers who practices in Employment and Public Law. She’s spent time at the International Criminal Court and UNICEF and as a Judicial Assistant at the Supreme Court. Margherita has also co-founded Themis, the intersectional women barristers’ alliance in the UK, and is currently working as a legal coordinator at Climate Champions.

It’s said about Lord Pannick QC that there’s been no greater public law advocate in the last 40 years. Indeed, when I interviewed Lady Hale in the last episode, she described Lord Pannick QC as one of the most impressive appellate advocates of his generation. Quite plainly, he’s an indisputable superstar of the Bar.

Lady Hale was the first and only woman to be appointed as a Law Lord in 2004, then the first woman to serve on the UK Supreme Court before becoming its first woman President in 2017. But this is not the only time that Lady Hale has been first. She graduated from the University of Cambridge with a starred first at the top of her class, and then became the first woman and youngest person ever to be appointed to the Law Commission at the age of 39. Her memoir, Spider Woman: A Life, is a story of formidable courage and inspiration.
