Censorship In Music

Censorship In Music

2023-08-1601:14:56

Harry and Matt are back! After a long break, they're here to talk about censorship in music. Inspired by the recent incident from Matty Healy at a festival in Malaysia which involved a demonstration in support of LGBTQ+ rights, the subsequent potential lawsuits against The 1975 and the banning of the band in the country. It wouldn't be a normal show for these two if they wouldn't talk about Muse, due to their connection to Malaysia as they were the next Western band to play in the country and the removal of one of their songs in their setlist. How far will censorship of music go in the industry and normal everyday culture? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Harry and Matt get together for their biggest discussion yet. This time they're having a full discussion on Muse's Absolution album from 2003. Going song by song, looking at composition, production and how they fit in the album as a whole. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
In this episode, Harry and Matt talk about their shared interest in the Manson Guitar brand and ask themselves, honestly, are they worth it?With other well-established guitar companies out there, is the small company from the UK worth it? With their association with Muse and Matt Bellamy, are they in danger of becoming irrelevant in the near future if they don't diversify and look to make themselves more competitive in a market that offers cheaper guitars to an audience that often cannot afford the price tag that comes with a Manson guitar? Harry and Matt refuse to stop their deep dive into Muse, and in this episode, they look across Muse's whole career to ask, "Does Muse still have the same impact?". That is to say, does the music they release now hit just as hard as it did in their earlier album? What could be the reasons behind this question, and more importantly, what do you think? In episode two of Another Music Podcast, Harry and Matt bring you a discussion on Kill or be Killed, the (at time of recording) latest release from Muse.
