Description

The I in Interconnectedness is a guided meditation podcast where I share practices and the occasional philosophical talk about finding intimacy and presence in our lives.

The meditations blend the different traditions I've been practicing myself, stemming from somatic movement, Yoga Nidra, and mindfulness.

The talks will revolve around intimacy and interconnectivity, animism, therapy, and love - but will not shy away from their messiness. Critical questions around society, death, and trauma are crucial for dealing with relationships. More generally, I am here to talk about our relationship with ourselves, with the world in which we dwell, and with the beings with whom we dwell. And yes, relationships are messy.

This practice invites us to create a moment of permission—a chance to set aside our worries, even briefly, and discover what remains in the present without them. Using a simple object as an anchor, the meditation guides you to connect with your body and posture—a grounded, upright structure that endures beyond the pull of worry. By engaging with an object in our environment, this practice anchors this permission into our everyday surroundings, allowing the world you dwell in to reflect this moment of possibility and remind you it is always within reach.
This practice could be great for many different moments, but I am sharing it now because it has helped me in a few particularly challenging days. In this practice we explore where comfort and ease are felt in our bodies, and, very gently, investigate our moods, scanning our bodies with curiosity to see what is alive within us. Although we might meet discomfort in this practice, we focus on getting familiar with the more calm, confident, and regulated parts that are there, present and available in our bodies.
It's winter now in the northern hemisphere. The retreat into interiors to seek warmth, brought this year a redirection of my gaze. Can I shift my weight a bit, so that my anchor is first in myself and only then in the current circumstances of my life? Can I find a sense of safety in myself from which I can respond to changes beyond my control? Can I find confidence with which I can direct something in my unruly world? Can my groundedness, my ever-present inner warmth, help me create in these ever-changing circumstances? Can I bring my love to my surroundings while maintaining this anchor? This Yoga Nidra is about finding this warmth in the heart space and expressing it. It's about giving this warmth space in our lives, and giving our warmth to our living spaces.
Slowing down and finding calmness can help us make space for something new and unknown to emerge. Through the image of the desert, through its warm sun, its cool breeze, and its magnificent night sky, we open up a space where clarity, guidance, and inspiration can find us.
In this 17-minute meditation, we tune into our support and release any strain that isn't necessary. We practice both concentration and ease and seek the places in our bodies that feel pleasant and can help us root back into the present moment.
Root into the sensations of your body while walking outside. In this 20-minute meditation, we develop an awareness of our breath, touch, and motion to anchor into the present moment and into our bodies while immersed in a changing environment.
In this Yoga Nida meditation, we seek ways to let go, to release our weight and give ourselves into gravity and into the earth. From invite the pleasure of giving ourselves to the support of the earth. After finding this grounding, we let the warm light of the summer sun infuse our skin with its vibrant energy. We seek ways of inviting this energy deeper and let the pleasure seep into our entire body.
Summer can bring both liveliness and overwhelm. This 35 minute Yoga Nidra meditation is here to help a little with finding your own place in between the shade and the light. What is the balance that is right for you, at this moment, between nestled rest and outgoing excitement, between nourishing time for yourself and the exuberance of a new connections? This is a practice of listening to what the body tells us about bringing in the summer's light in the way, and in the pace, that is right for us.
