While the world knows the legend of La Llorona, Costa Rica holds a uniquely terrifying collection of folklore designed to keep people on the "righteous path"—or else. Here's the link to the video we talked about regarding the El Cadejo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiFl6N4D1yEFrom La Seguia, the beautiful woman who hides a skeletal horse face, to the El Cadejo, a supernatural dog that either protects you or steals your soul (depending on your "sarcasm" and sobriety), we dive deep into the spirits that haunt the rivers and roads of Central America. We also explore the eerie La Carreta Sin Bueyes (The Oxcart Without Oxen) and the many bizarre—and lactating—iterations of La Tule Vieja. Whether it's leafcutter ants, backward feet, or colander faces, Costa Rican monsters don't play around.

From a bizarre celebrity doppelgänger caught on a red carpet to a literal UFO spotted on Google Maps in the Bermuda Triangle, these clips have left even us—professional paranormal investigators—completely stumped. In this episode, we break down:The "New" Jim Carrey: Is it a botched surgery, a stunt double, or something much more supernatural?Google Maps UFO: A parajunkie found a classic flying saucer in Bermuda. We zoom in to see the details. The Apartment Shadow: Watch as a dark entity runs full tilt through a solid wall, terrifying the household dogs. The "Bro Ghost": Why is this outdoor gym equipment moving on its own with perfect form? The Cathedral Spirits: 2:30 AM in an ancient Norwegian cathedral. The sounds of scampering aren't human. The Ghost Train: Two cars moving with no engine... and a pale "crawler" hitching a ride underneath.Do you have evidence? Staying in the infamous Lily’s Room, we expected to find the tragic spirits of a forbidden colonial romance. What we found instead defied everything we know about paranormal investigation. From lights turning on out of nowhere, to the frantic sounds of a "ghostly quill" scratching on our bedside table to a shocking, simultaneous confirmation of a tragic death via the Estes Method, the activity didn't stop. But the night took a turn for the bizarre when we moved to the first floor. Did we actually communicate with a living person’s guilt? And who—or what—sent us a chilling warning about the future? In this episode, we discuss:The History of Lily’s Room: The tragic tale of a soldier and a servant.Physical Activity: Madison’s terrifying encounter with a spirit named "Gus."The "Living" Haunt: A deep dive into the Omar Long confession.A Message for Humanity: Why a voice from the future told us "Love and Art" is the only answer.

Then we ask the bigger question. Prather, and his team are actively conducting, including structured setups involving sound frequencies, mathematical layouts, sacred geometry, and altered states of consciousness. These experiments are designed to explore whether humans can access shared realities beyond our everyday perception, similar to experiences often reported during deep trance or psychedelic states, but without the use of substances. We talk about how these experiments are built, why precision matters, how sound and frequency may play a role in perception, and what happens when curiosity pushes beyond traditional ghost hunting tools. This episode is a deep dive into the evolving frontier of paranormal research and experimental consciousness. This conversation is exploratory, open-minded, and meant to spark curiosity. Madison Timmons is on the mic, with JT filling in for Chris, who’s currently in New York and clearly deep in his Zillow era—because the first listing in this episode came straight from him.In this segment, we break down three houses that are still for sale right now, all priced suspiciously low and all giving off serious haunted energy.First up is the New York Nightmare House, a rural farmhouse listed for $19,900 cash only. On the outside it looks like a basic fixer-upper. Inside… it’s something else entirely, complete with derelict rooms, unsettling decor, and an attic that does not feel empty.Next, we head to Ohio with a listing we can only describe as “Is This Really in Cincinnati?”. Built in the 1930s and inspired by the World’s Fair “Homes of Tomorrow,” this limestone-and-concrete structure looks more like a prison or an action-movie set than a family home. It’s $200,000, sold as-is, and comes with historical newspaper clippings that raise more questions than answers. Finally, we tour a massive Victorian home in Helena, Arkansas, built in 1886 and listed for $120,000 by the owner. Four bedrooms, nearly 4,000 square feet, original details, stained glass, and a price that makes absolutely no sense. It’s beautiful, well-maintained, and somehow feels like no one is truly alone inside it.We also share a quick update on The Other Side Show, our new horror-improv series blending comedy with paranormal and cryptid themes. The first episode premieres December 20 on Patreon, with a public release coming in January 2026.If you’re listening on Spotify, switch over to video to see these listings for yourself. And if you stumble across a creepy, underpriced house in your town, send it our way through Ghost Mail at ghostmail@hauntedcitypodcast.com.

Is it motion blur, matrixing…or a hunched, clawed figure with a face that changes the longer you stare?– The Twin at Castillo de San Marcos: A mom who lost one twin in utero captures a second boy standing beside her son at the fort in St. Augustine. Guardian angel? Doppelgänger? Mimic? Madison and Chris dig into twin lore, spirit “aging,” and why the glowing eyes and stretched proportions feel so unnerving.– The Blackberry Demon Face: A grainy 2011 phone snap hides what looks like a two-faced, mask-peeling entity straight out of “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.” The crew connect it to Japanese urban legends like Kuchisake-onna and talk about attachments that hide in plain sight.– The Thing in the Truck (…And Hat Man at the Door): A simple “I look like I’m in a spaceship” dash photo turns into a full car-haunting. A massive figure looms behind the driver’s seat, a possible “victim” slumps in the back, and a shadowy Hat Man-style silhouette waits in the doorway. In this episode, Madison and Chris dive horn-first into the folklore of Krampus—the clawed, chain-rattling counterpart to St. Nicholas who terrorizes naughty kids across the Alpine regions.Chris kicks things off with his real-life Krampusnacht memories from Amberg, Germany—complete with a snarling beast on a chain, Pope-style St. Nick, and the threat of being dragged into the woods at midnight. From there, we unravel how Krampus went from pagan winter monster to “Santa’s bad cop,” why there are actually many Krampi (including lady Krampus variants), and how he got tangled up in Catholicism, bans, propaganda pamphlets, and violent Krampus runs that still send people to the ER.Madison breaks down:Krampus’s origins in Alpine and pagan winter loreHis toolkit: birch switches, chains, baskets for kidnapping, and moreHow Krampusnacht works (boots, candy, birch-stick warnings, and a lot of schnapps)The postcards that turned him into a Christmas iconRare Krampus facts: the switch ledger, faceless Krampus, the glutton-eating adult version, and a boot-and-tallow summoning ritualWe also tease other winter monsters like Grýla, the Yule Lads, La Befana, and more unhinged holiday creatures that might get their own episodes if you ask for them loudly enough.MEET KRAMPUS IN SAVANNAHKrampus will be at the Savannah Paranormal Museum on December 6th, noon–4 p.m.Museum ticket + selfie: $5Museum ticket + pro photo: $10 totalJust want Krampus pics, no museum: $25 for selfie + pro photo bundleCome see us, grab a photo, and make some questionable holiday memories.NEW SHOW: THE OTHER SIDE SHOWIf you love “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” and horror, our horror/paranormal improv show The Other Side Show premieres December 9th, and we’ll be live-streaming the first two episodes exclusively for Parajunkies.TELL US BELOWWhich winter monster should we cover next—Grýla, the Yule Cat, La Befana, or another Christmas cryptid? Join us at: www.patreon.com/hauntedcitypodcastWelcome back to Ghostmail, where you tell the stories… and we try not to lose our minds reading them.Tonight’s episode takes us from precognitive dreams in Costa Rica, to a light-switch-obsessed ghost in a Massachusetts home tied to Daniel Webster, to a Hat Man encounter that nearly led a child out into the street — and the guardian angel who may have stepped in to save her.STORY 1 – MJ (Costa Rica):MJ shares her deeply personal journey of reconnecting with herself, discovering her precognitive dreaming ability, and a Halloween moment in San José where a rain-soaked night, a Victorian-era spiritualism tour, and one casual invitation to the spirits resulted in a physical burn on her raincoat. A trickster? A warning? A cosmic “don’t call us, we’ll call you”?STORY 2 – Jessica (Massachusetts):Growing up in a home built on Daniel Webster’s barn foundation, Jessica dealt with a ghost who flipped the hall light switch… repeatedly. This spirit had preferences, boundaries, and apparently an affection for her — and the activity may even connect to the famously haunted Winslow House just a few doors down.https://www.patriotledger.com/story/news/2008/10/27/haunted-places-on-south-shore/40141472007/STORY 3 – Raven (California & Mojave Desert):Raven brings two heavy hitters:• Her childhood Hat Man, who didn’t lurk… he beckoned. Into rooms, onto balconies, and one terrifying night — out the front door.• Her Papa, whose love may have quite literally kept her car alive long enough to get her home, and whose presence later returned in dreams to give her peace and closure.Strap in — this one is emotional, eerie, and special. If you’ve got a paranormal story, send it to ghostmail@hauntedcitypodcast.com.And don’t forget to check out the Savannah Paranormal Museum: www.savannahparanormalmuseum.com

Oh — and the former owner is buried on the property.• Langs Mill (Doss, Texas) — A 19th-century mill on 300+ acres full of crooked barns, old machinery, graffiti from kids in the 50s and 80s, fey-feeling creek beds, and Confederate-era history that absolutely left a mark.• The Lake Michigan Organ House — A sweet little lakeside ranch hiding a massive Victorian-style music auditorium beneath it, with balcony seating and one of the largest Wurlitzer pipe organs ever made. When did this turn into a true crime podcast? There’s little to no information on the results of the stay at the Lizzie Borden House. Don’t waste your time with this. There are much better paranormal podcasts that have Lizzie Borden episodes that actually talk about their experiences at the bed and breakfast. This episode sucks!!!
