In a “can’t we all just agree to disagree?” age, how do Christians know which doctrines are worth dividing over—and which ones faithful believers can disagree about in good conscience? The New Testament repeatedly warns that false teachers will arise from within the church, twisting the gospel and drawing people away. But that raises a crucial question: what exactly counts as “the gospel,” and what beliefs are essential to salvation? In today’s episode, I’m joined by David Geisler, who carries on the work of his father, Dr. Norman Geisler, to help Christians sort the difference between essential and non-essential doctrines—with clarity, charity, and conviction. We also dig into the 2025 State of Theology research (Lifeway Research commissioned by Ligonier Ministries) and the results are sobering: many professing Christians are confused about core, gospel-defining doctrines like God’s nature, the Trinity, the resurrection, and human sin.Together, we walk through 15 core essentials—doctrines that directly relate to salvation—and talk about why some truths may be logically necessary even if a new believer can’t articulate them yet. We also discuss why compromise may be one of the biggest threats to the church right now.If you’ve ever felt confused by the endless “lists” online, or you’ve heard progressive Christianity flatten everything into the same category, this conversation will help you think clearly and biblically about what must be protected and how to pursue unity without surrendering truth.Resources mentioned: Conviction Without Compromise: Standing Strong in the Core Beliefs of the Christian Faith by Norman Geisler & Ron Rhodes.------------------------------------------------------------------This video is sponsored by:SEVEN WEEKS COFFEETaste the Coffee that is Saving Lives.Save up to 25% with promo code 'ALISA' & get up to four FREE gifts this Christmas season: http://www.sevenweekscoffee.com/Use my code: ALISAGOOD RANCHERSAmerican Meat DeliveredGo to https://www.goodranchers.com/discount/ALISA for more information.Use my code: ALISAA'DEL NATURAL COSMETICSElevate your skincare routine with A'del's toxin-free cosmetics. When Jeff and Cat Leopard learned their daughter Adelyne had Trisomy 18, they were told she was “incompatible with life,” pressured to terminate, and given a countdown on a calendar. Instead, as Christians who believe every human being is made in the image of God, they chose life, and then fought for the medical care that would honor their daughter’s dignity. What followed was heartbreak, advocacy, hospital corridors, hard conversations… and an unexpected, stubborn hope. You’ll hear the Leopards’ full journey from the cold, clinical appointment that offered only abortion or “comfort care,” to the physicians who finally said, “We’re going to do everything we can.” We also talk candidly about what Trisomy 18 is, how the “incompatible with life” label is often used, and why Christians must think clearly about personhood, human value, and the worldview assumptions driving modern bioethics. Jeff also shares how he teaches students to spot the cracks in naturalism, and why pro-life conviction isn’t just a political position—it’s a worldview lived out in real suffering, real love, and real courage.Follow Adelyn's progress on Facebook: facebook.com/adelynleopardstrongLeopard's Amazon Wish List: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/GZPSEYY9XJBN?ref_=wl_shareLeopard's Venmo to donate: @adelynleopardstrong ------------------------------------------------------------------This video is sponsored by:GOOD RANCHERSAmerican Meat DeliveredGo to https://www.goodranchers.com/discount/ALISA for more information.Use my code: ALISASUMMITGive your kids a stronger foundation to embrace a biblical worldview.Go to www.summit.org for more informationUse my code: ALISA26SEVEN WEEKS COFFEETaste the Coffee that is Saving Lives.Save up to 25% with promo code 'ALISA' & get up to four FREE gifts this Christmas season: http://www.sevenweekscoffee.com/Use my code: ALISA--------------------------------------------------------------------To Purchase the new CD, “Beauty from the Ash”, go to www.alisachilders.com/musicThere you can get the CD, backing tracks, string charts, rhythm charts and stems.Support us on Patreon: www.patreon.com/alisachildersTo order “Another Gospel”: www.alisachilders.com/another-gospel/To order “Live Your Truth": www.alisachilders.com/live-your-truth-and-other-lies/To order “The Deconstruction of Christianity”: https://alisachilders.com/the-deconstruction-of-christianity/Potential Sponsors: https://alisachilders.com/sponsor-request-form/Product links are affiliate links which means if you buy something we'll receive a small commission.
In this jam-packed (and super practical) conversation, I sits down with Elizabeth Urbanowicz, founder of Foundation Worldview, to tackle “the talk” for kids ages 4–10—without the awkwardness, the shame, or the purity-culture baggage.Elizabeth models exact, age-appropriate language for:Bodies + biology (male/female, privacy, and protection)Sex + marriage (framed as a covenant promise, not a dirty secret)Reproduction (simple, clear, and biblical)Pornography (the “Stop, Run, Tell” plan every child needs)Gender confusion + transgender claims (truth with compassion)Homosexuality (God’s design, sin’s distortion, and the hope of the gospel)Masturbation (when and how to address it)We also discuss the modesty conversation, responding to the painful message many girls heard in church: “Cover up or men will lust.” Instead, we reframe modesty as redirecting attention back to God...without making the body feel inherently shameful. If you’ve been hesitant because you don’t want to “mess it up,” this episode will put tools in your hand and confidence in your words. If someone told you the Gospels were “anonymous legends written decades later,” would you know how to answer without panic-googling?In this episode, Historian Adam Claason joins me for a deep (but very accessible) conversation on gospel reliability. We discuss who actually wrote Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John...and does it matter? We tackle the viral claim that “the Gospels never name their authors” (true)… and why that doesn’t mean the church just made the names up. Adam breaks down how ancient historians evaluated sources, why eyewitness testimony carried weight in the Greco-Roman world, what Luke is doing in his opening lines, and how the “late legendary development” theory doesn’t fit the evidence nearly as well as people assume. If you’ve ever wondered:Were the Gospels written by eyewitnesses—or by strangers pretending to be them? Were they written too late to be historically trustworthy? Why early Christians were so unified on authorship (and why we don’t find competing names)What “eyewitness primacy” is, and why it changed the conversation, this one will equip you to think clearly, respond confidently, and trust that Christianity isn’t built on “cleverly devised tales,” but on testimony grounded in real history.------------------------------------------------------------------This video is sponsored by:BRAVE BOOKSEntertainment that Engages the Imagination for Good. Does your social feed feel like a theological and cultural food fight lately? Let's face it. It’s chaotic out there — and today we talk about basically all of it. I’m joined by my friend Melissa Dougherty for one of our big-picture, no-stone-unturned conversations about what’s blowing up online, what Christians are getting wrong, and how to stay grounded in truth when the noise gets loud.We cover everything from furry fandom (and what parents NEED to know), to conspiracy spirals, propaganda tactics, anti-intellectualism in the church, Bethel controversies, the rise of the woke right, immigration, and why critical thinking is not the enemy of faith. We also end on a high note with Melissa’s beautiful new Easter allegory for kids, The Day That Made the Way.------------------------------------------------------------------This video is sponsored by:SEVEN WEEKS COFFEETaste the Coffee that is Saving Lives.Save up to 25% with promo code 'ALISA' & get up to four FREE gifts this Christmas season: http://www.sevenweekscoffee.com/Use my code: ALISAA'DEL NATURAL COSMETICSElevate your skincare routine with A'del's toxin-free cosmetics. When long-buried questions finally surface, faith can feel like it’s hanging by a thread. In this episode, Alisa sits down with Allen Hainline and Devin Squeri to walk gently and honestly through a real crisis of belief. Devon shares how decades of suppressed doubts, scientific objections, and persuasive online voices nearly led him to abandon Christianity, and what happened when he decided to truly investigate instead of walk away. Together they offer compassionate guidance for anyone wrestling with doubt, expose common internet myths, and show how patient discipleship and solid answers can rebuild confidence in the gospel. If you or someone you love is struggling, this conversation points to hope, clarity, and real help through resources like Devin's book, The Doubt Project, and talkaboutdoubts.com.The Doubt Project - https://a.co/d/07Gx3nOhttps://talkaboutdoubts.com ------------------------------------------------------------------This video is sponsored by:FOUNDATION WORLDVIEWFoundation Worldview creates curriculum series that will empower your child to thinkBiblically in a deceptive world. Was that biblical repentance...or something else?In this episode, I take a hard look at the recent controversy surrounding Bethel Church and the public response from its leaders, including Kris Vallotton and Bill Johnson, following the exposure of false prophecy and abuse connected to Shawn Bolz. Many Christians celebrated what they called repentance. Others weren’t so sure.Instead of reacting emotionally or choosing sides online, we’re going to Scripture. What does the Bible actually say repentance looks like? How do we tell the difference between godly sorrow and regret over being exposed? And does public confession automatically mean restoration to leadership?------------------------------------------------------------------This video is sponsored by:BRAVE BOOKSEntertainment that Engages the Imagination for Good. Today I’m joined by John Stonestreet from the Colson Center for a conversation about what’s happening to the West—and why so much of our cultural confusion suddenly seems to “make sense” once you understand the deeper worldview battle underneath it.We talk about why civilizations are built around shared principles, and what happens when a society tries to keep the “fruit” of those principles—human rights, equality, dignity, freedom—while severing the roots that made them possible. John explains why the chaos and strange alliances we’ve seen in recent years aren’t random, but often share a common goal: undermining Western civilization itself.John offers practical guidance for living faithfully in a hostile culture: refusing to repeat what isn’t true, being willing to have hard conversations, trusting God with outcomes, and asking four questions in your own sphere of influence: What’s good to protect? What’s evil to oppose? What’s broken to restore? What’s missing to contribute?------------------------------------------------------------------This video is sponsored by:GOOD RANCHERSAmerican Meat DeliveredGo to https://go.goodranchers.com/alisa for more information.Use my code: ALISASUMMITGive your kids a stronger foundation to embrace a biblical worldview.Go to www.summit.org for more informationUse my code: ALISA26FOUNDATION WORLDVIEWFoundation Worldview creates curriculum series that will empower your child to thinkBiblically in a deceptive world. Today’s conversation is a candid and at times sobering look inside the contemporary Christian music industry—where calling, platform, pressure, and spiritual warfare often collide. My guest is Michael O’Brien, beloved solo artist from the ’90s and former lead singer of NewSong. Michael opens up about the grueling pace of life on the road, the hidden sins that nearly cost him his marriage, and how the Lord used conviction, repentance, counseling, and a renewed love for Scripture to rebuild what was breaking. We also talk honestly about the “machine” that can form around Christian celebrity, how easy it is for sin to stay buried in public ministry, and why true reform in the Christian music world won’t come through branding—but through humility, servant leadership, and gospel purity. Along the way, we discuss the current cultural moment, the renewed interest in church and Christianity, and why discernment is more important than ever—especially for brand-new believers who are hungry, hopeful, and vulnerable to bad theology. ------------------------------------------------------------------This video is sponsored by:SUMMITGive your kids a stronger foundation to embrace a biblical worldview.Go to www.summit.org for more informationUse my code: ALISA26BRAVE BOOKSEntertainment that Engages the Imagination for Good. This is the first episode of the New Year, and I'm starting with a deep dive into how progressive Christianity approaches the Bible. In this episode, Natasha Crain and I walk through Better Ways to Read the Bible by progressive Christian pastor Zach Lambert, using it as a case study to examine common progressive claims about Scripture. Lambert argues that the Bible is often read through “harmful lenses” and should instead be read through new “healing” ones. While we agree that the Bible has been misused in real and damaging ways, we explain why his proposed solutions create more confusion than clarity. We discuss the critical difference between:The nature of Scripture (inspiration, inerrancy, authority)The interpretation of Scripture (how we determine meaning)Along the way, we address:Why “literalism” is often misrepresented in progressive theologyHow progressive Christianity reframes hell, sin, and judgmentMoralism vs. legalism—and what Scripture actually teaches about graceLiberation theology, critical theory, and power-based readings of the BibleThe misuse of “fruit” language to justify affirming what Scripture calls sinWhy progressive Christians still identify as Christian—and why sincerity is not the same as truthThis conversation is not about motives or tone. It’s about theology, presuppositions, and whether the progressive framework is consistent with the historic Christian faith. We’re starting the year by going back to first principles: what the Bible is, how it should be read, and why those questions matter.
In this very special episode, I’m reunited with my ZOEgirl bandmates, Kristin Schweain and Chrissy Katina, to celebrate 25 years since our very first self-titled album released back in 2000. If you remember us as the “Christian Spice Girls” for tween girls, this one is for you! And even if you’ve never heard our music, I think you’ll be encouraged by three former CCM artists who are still walking with Jesus in an age of deconstruction. We share big news: ZOEgirl has written and recorded a brand-new song that will release in January, in honor of our 25-year anniversary. We talk about what it was like to re-enter the studio together after all these years, and we give life updates on what’s happened since we came off the road around 2008—family, ministry, photography, worship leading, and more.We also get honest about the darker side of the Christian music industry—the body-image pressures, the pull toward “mainstream-friendly” lyrics, and what it was like to watch so many fellow artists deconstruct or walk away from the faith. Kristin shares the powerful pro-life story of her son Callum’s high-risk pregnancy and the pressure she faced to abort. Chrissy talks about years-long health struggles, losing her voice, and what God taught her in a long season of “just listening.”Finally, all three of us answer a simple but profound question: “Why do you still believe?” We talk about sin, grace, the reliability of the gospel, and why Christianity isn’t just comforting...it’s true. If you grew up on ZOEgirl, or if you’re trying to stand firm in your faith in a culture that’s increasingly hostile to biblical Christianity, this episode is for you.Stay connected with ZOEgirl:Follow us on Instagram: @zoegirlmusicofficialFind us on Facebook under ZOEgirl Music OfficialJoin us on our 2026 cruise (Oct 3–8) – details and registration at https://thekatinas.com/pages/the-kati...------------------------------------------------------------------This video is sponsored by:SEVEN WEEKS COFFEETaste the Coffee that is Saving Lives.Save up to 25% with promo code 'ALISA' & get up to four FREE gifts this Christmas season: http://www.sevenweekscoffee.com/Use my code: ALISAFOUNDATION WORLDVIEWFoundation Worldview creates curriculum series that will empower your child to thinkBiblically in a deceptive world. When motherhood feels more like a thousand little deaths to self than the glossy highlight reel on Instagram, is it really worth it?In this episode, I’m joined by my friend Abby Halberstadt, better known as M is for Mama, to talk about her new book, You Bet Your Stretch Marks: Finding Beauty and Worth in the Ways Motherhood Marks Our Bodies and Souls. Abby is a mom of 10, a fitness instructor, and a deeply theologically grounded voice speaking into the chaos of modern motherhood. Together we tackle comparison, cultural backlash, “honest motherhood,” and what it really means to live as a faithful, joyful mom in a world that often treats children like a burden instead of a blessing. We talk about:Why our “marks” (stretch marks, scars, sleepless nights, and hidden sacrifices) can be beautiful testimonies of love, not flaws to hideHow to push back against a culture that normalizes complaining, victimhood, and joking about hating motherhoodThe difference between rejoicing in all things and enjoying all thingsHow our words, attitudes, and even facial expressions shape the spiritual atmosphere of our homesComparison, social media, and what to do when people accuse you of being “fake,” “toxic positive,” or “doing it for the ’gram”Training our kids with a long view of legacy parenting—seeing everyday faithfulness as an investment in generations we may never meetWhy obedience to Christ in the hidden, thankless moments is always worth it, even when our feelings lag behind our theologyAbby also shares personal stories of suffering, health struggles, miscarriages, and how God’s kindness and sovereignty sustained her through it all. If you’re a mom who’s tired, discouraged, or tempted to believe the lie that you’re “not enough,” this conversation is for you.???? In this episode of the Alisa Childers Podcast, I’m joined by my friend and OG apologist, Greg Koukl of Stand to Reason, for what I hope will be the episode you send to a brand-new Christian who’s asking, “Where do I even start?”In the wake of so many people coming to Christ, especially following Charlie Kirk’s death, Greg and I talk about how to help new believers understand the big story of the Bible: who God is, who we are, what’s gone wrong with the world, and how Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection make sense of all of it. Drawing from his book The Story of Reality, Greg walks us through the narrative arc of the Christian worldview using five simple words: God, man, Jesus, cross, resurrection. We also talk about:Why Christianity isn’t “your truth vs. my truth,” but a picture of realityWhy God’s justice and love are not in tension but perfectly meet at the crossHeaven, hell, judgment, and why what you do with Jesus really does matter foreverPractical encouragement for new Christians: how to start reading your Bible, why you need a solid local church, and how to think about prayer when it feels hardIf you’re new to the faith, or you love someone who is, this episode is for you.------------------------------------------------------------------This video is sponsored by:BRAVE BOOKSEntertainment that Engages the Imagination for Good. Rather than chasing every rumor, Alisa walks through how Christians can biblically and rationally discern claims like these—especially when they implicate real people, by name, with no publicly available evidence.Drawing from Scripture (2 Corinthians 10, Ephesians 6, 2 Timothy 3, 2 Thessalonians 2), she explores why truth is not relative, why discernment is central to spiritual warfare, and how conspiracy thinking can slide into slander, character assassination, and even cult-like dynamics. Alisa also examines some of Candace’s rhetoric and tactics—insinuation, speculation, appeals to secret knowledge, and ad hominem attacks—and contrasts this with a truly Christian approach to seeking truth, guarding our hearts, and being transformed into the image of Christ. This episode is especially aimed at Christian women who find themselves glued to every new “bombshell” update. Alisa offers a sober call to repentance from gossip and titillation, and an invitation back to Scripture, prayer, family, and a life ordered around Jesus, who is the Truth.Link to Israel trip: https://www.eo.travelwithus.com/tours/hl26060126n58473#eotoursLink to full episode of J. Gender isn’t something we “become,” it’s a good gift from God. In this episode, Alisa talks with Dr. Jeff Meyer (Summit Ministries) and Dr. Kathy Cook (Celebrate Kids) about helping kids understand male and female as part of God’s design, without reducing them to stereotypes. We tackle what today’s teens are really asking (“Is God good?”), how social media fuels confusion, practical ways parents and grandparents can talk with kids at every age, and why saying “no” to social transition can be a life-giving act of love. Jeff and Kathy share conversation starters, red-flag behaviors to watch for, and a hopeful vision of how men and women harmonize for the good of the family and the world. In this episode:Gender as design vs. stereotypeSocial media, rapid-onset confusion, and wise boundariesAge-appropriate scripts for tough questionsWhen boys want dresses & girls want buzz cuts—how to respondGenesis 1–2, identity, and human flourishingBuilding homes where God’s voice is the loudestResources & links:Get the book Raising Gender-Confident Kids free: genderconfidentkids.comUpdates: Alisa shares sabbatical plans, Unshaken Faith Christmas livestream, studio move, and a preview of upcoming episodes on critical thinking and cultural discernment.------------------------------------------------------------------This video is sponsored by:RANGE LEATHERAmerican-Made Craftsmanship from WyomingGo to www.rangeleather.com for more informationUse my code: ALISASUMMITGive your kids a stronger foundation to embrace a biblical worldview.Go to www.summit.org for more informationUse my code: ALISA26BRAVE BOOKSEntertainment that Engages the Imagination for Good. What does Scripture really say about being male and female, and how did the “Nashville Statement” become a line in the sand? Today I’m joined by Dr. Denny Burk (Boyce College/SBTS; President of CBMW; author of What Is the Meaning of Sex?) for a clear and candid conversation on complementarianism, feminism, the church’s drift on sex and gender, and why Scripture is our standard. We trace how reactions to the Nashville Statement helped catalyze Side B/Revoice, talk through what the Bible means by manhood and womanhood (and why that’s good news), and offer hope to parents with deconstructed kids.In this episodeComplementarianism vs. egalitarianism...why it matters for the home and the churchThe Nashville Statement: what it is, why it exploded, and what came next“Side B,” identity labels, and building your identity on Christ rather than fallen desiresHow progressive readings reinterpret Scripture—and how to respondThe beauty of sexual difference and the goodness of God’s designReal encouragement and testimonies for parents of prodigals/deconstructed kidsResources & links:The Nashville Statement (CBMW) – cbmw.orgDenny’s writing – dennyburk.comDallas area friends: our final Unshaken Conference is Nov 8 at Stonebriar Church—register at unshakenconference.com or get tickets at the door. Today I’m joined by philosopher and veteran apologist Dr. Douglas Groothuis to tackle the biggest misconceptions about Christian apologetics—what it is (and isn’t), why it matters for evangelism and discipleship, and how to respond when critics dismiss apologetics as mere talking points. We unpack methods (classical/evidential vs. presuppositional), the role of evidence and story, why humility and love are non-negotiable, and how everyday Christians can give reasons for the hope within them with both gentleness and respect.Along the way, I share updates: a new Unshaken Faith episode where Natasha and I review Jen Hatmaker’s Awake, the release of my Another Gospel?—Student Edition (with new discussion questions and side notes), and details on our final Unshaken Conference of the year in the Dallas area on November 8.------------------------------------------------------------------This video is sponsored by:BRAVE BOOKSEntertainment that Engages the Imagination for Good. In today's conversation, Alisa Childers is joined by Anna Kitko—a researcher and clinical expert on spiritual abuse—to unpack the historical, biblical, and psychological roots of deliverance ministry. Together they explore how many of today’s practices trace back not to Scripture, but to ancient pagan rituals, and how that can lead to deep spiritual and emotional harm for sincere Christians seeking help.Drawing from her research into ancient Akkadian medicine, Second Temple Judaism, and modern charismatic movements, Anna explains that Jesus’ exorcisms were unique precisely because only Yahweh Himself could command evil spirits. Alisa and Anna also discuss:The four ancient categories of “demons” and what they reveal about how we understand possessionWhy much of deliverance ministry functions like spiritualized mental-health care—without accountability or clinical ethicsThe concept of iatrogenic harm (when “healing” practices actually wound people)How Bethlehem’s “SOZO” prayer model parallels ancient pagan rituals and can lead to spiritual abuseWhat true, biblical deliverance and spiritual warfare look like—prayer, truth, and faithfulness under Christ’s authority aloneThis episode is a sober but deeply encouraging reminder: Christians are delivered when they trust in Christ and are delivered from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of God. ------------------------------------------------------------------This video is sponsored by:RANGE LEATHERAmerican-Made Craftsmanship from WyomingGo to www.rangeleather.com for more informationUse my code: ALISAA'DEL NATURAL COSMETICSElevate your skincare routine with A'del's toxin-free cosmetics. When journalist and author Megan Basham released her book Shepherds for Sale, the evidence she uncovered should have sparked healthy reform and accountability within evangelical institutions. Instead, she watched the entire “Big Evangelical” infrastructure mobilize—using back-room tactics, social pressure, and selective outrage—to discredit her and convince pastors not to read her work.In this deeply revealing conversation, Alisa Childers and Megan expose the six manipulative tactics that often appear when someone dares to speak truth that challenges powerful networks within the church: 1. Prediscreditation – discrediting before you speak. 2. Moralizing dismissal ("Not our thing, Dear!") 3. Shunning and platform pressure. 4. Seizing on minor errors to discredit the whole. 5. Emotional outrage and tone policing. 6. Misusing Matthew 18 to silence public critique.Megan also shares a personal update on her battle with stage 3 colon cancer, how God sustained her through the storm, and why she continues to stand firm for truth despite enormous backlash.Whether you’ve faced rejection for speaking biblical truth in your own church or just want to understand how the “discreditation machine” operates, this episode will equip you to stand firm with courage and biblical clarity. ------------------------------------------------------------------This video is sponsored by:BRAVE BOOKSEntertainment that Engages the Imagination for Good. Love your podcast learn so much but also wanted to let you know you dropped the ball. You commented on truth rising great video highly recommend it. Haven’t watched it yet…… watch it and then tell people it’s great and to watch it their selves I think a lot of people if you haven’t bothered to watch it aren’t going to bother either and it’s definitely worth the watch! No one‘s perfect press on : )
is there a doctrine of separation? should Christian disassociate from Christian who are teaching something that's not Biblical.
z,
It is interesting about adult children cutting off relationships with their parents. I just met a couple in this situation. Strategically, it makes sense in the eyes of the Deceiver to consider the impact of cutting off all generational wisdom. One could even learn from their mistakes.
Hi, really enjoying you show and have enjoyed many episodes. My only issue is the music coming into the add intro are a bit loud when using ear plugs. I am glad you are able to have adds, keep up the good work! Blessings Brad
1hr 1min - major creds recognized
Did Mr Moore ever remember the name of the guy who gave the best sermon he ever reviewed? would love to hear it ;)
Revival or not, let's seek God humbly and wholeheartedly. All glory to God!
love these podcasts! idk why they are uploading as 8 hrs long!
At about 20 min, a great resource on Christian history is mentioned, available on Kindle. History of the Christian Church, Phillip Schaff. $2.
I'm just wondering, if that ( those ) scenes were omitted from the movie, would she see it then? Also, to actually critique THE BOOK, without reading, well, that's another thing. While I have not seen the movie, I have " Listened " to the audio book twice, and it made me cry, it made me thankful, it made my heart melt. it was absolutely beautiful! And I'm a 54 year old married man with kids. The book actually made me praise God! Francine Rivers was a secular written before she got saved. And has actually requested her former publishers to STOP publish them. She wrote Redeeming Love from a better perspective. Without the graphics sex from her past non-Christian books.
This is a very helpful explanation of critical theory and how it is infiltrating the church.
First reaction as i started to listen to this was that there is no such thing as a progressive Christian. Their refusal to accept the authority of God's Word and the refusal to acknowledge the atonement is a rejection of the gospel. Luther would call progressive thinking an abomination and i call it rebellion because it is religion on human terms. It is nothing new. Tony Zylstra (freodockers6@optusnet.com.au) As with CS Lewis, you deny that Christ took our place and bore God's wrath on our behalf, is to reject any basis for God dealing wiith one's sinful estate
I had this whole church experience 40 years ago. Fortunately, we had sister church locations to flee to, so to speak, where things were better. It was so incredibly ugly,, and I knew of people who were deeply wounded by it, but I don't know really what happened to many of them except many are still angry and still are staying on a particular "side." Your descriptions and perspectives reminding us of the necessary focus on Christ are very helpful to me, even this long since.
This didn't really answer the question.
Would love to hear a podcast on dominion theology!
no offense but for a seminary professor I got to say these answers are very odd they don't seem very biblical at all like Jesus Christ is at the right hand of the father when that was asked and nobody stated that come on where's your Bible like and then you're talking about why is God alone polygamy people send that's the problem it's not that he is saying okay it's okay we'll sanctify you slowly no he didn't regulate child sacrifice just like he's not regulating or going easy on people citizen and God never changes he hates sin she seems ridiculous
I don't know how anyone watched that video by west and interpreted it as anything but parody making fun of the legalistic modesty camp.
Packed with great perspective. Alisa and Krista are well-educated and yet humble in their approach to this topic. Topic to consider: address the idea that Pauline teachings are inferior to Jesus's message in the gospel writings, especially regarding sexuality and sexual ethics.
Great podcast thanks for hosting Edwin Lutzer
