The final week of Women's Bible Study was open to a Q+A time called "Inquiring Minds" where we got to ask Pastor Ross and Pastor Ben all kinds of questions. Here are the questions and their responses. Enjoy!
Today we talk about something that happens literally every day, and how to use that for discipleship. This is the key of family discipleship: not adding to our already full calendars, but utilizing what is already there with intentionality for discipleship.
Bedtime. What does the bedtime routine for your kids look like and how might it be able to be used for redemptive purposes of pointing them to Christ? Let’s jump into our Fridays are for Families episode to talk more about it!
Every week there are opportunities to have a captive audience with your kid(s). But are we, as disciple-makers, making the best use of the time? Car rides are one of those rare times when we have every kid captive. It’s during car rides that we can hear about what their friends are doing, their day at school, or field questions and talk about things they are worried about.
These conversations, and this sacred discipleship space, don’t happen accidentally. It means being intentional as a disciple-maker about using this time well. That is what we talk about in today’s video of Fridays are for Families.
The “hard stuff” of family discipleship happens in little moments that build. It is in those little moments, the ones that aren’t immediately life-changing, that we build a foundation of moments and memories for our kids to see our faith, hear about God’s promises, pray, and more.
One of those moments we can use for discipleship is getting outside with our kids. Our family loves to take walks. We don’t always use them the best, and not every walk goes smoothly. But, today we talk about how family discipleship could go during family walks.
This month we want to encourage you that discipleship happens in everyday moments, and not just during family devotions. God commands us in the book of Deuteronomy to teach our kids about him when we are sitting, walking, lying down, and rising. In short, we are to point our kids to Jesus all the time.
Today we’re going to talk about family discipleship during family meals at the table.

Our most recent Family Discipleship Class tackled the topic of "Parenting Generation Screen: Wisdom for Parents from Parents on Screens, Smartphones, and Social Media."
Our 7 panelists talked from their own personal experience, research, and family life to share practical wisdom for parents today navigating this tricky terrain.
The audio was recorded in an open room with a central microphone, so at times may be louder or quieter, but we believe there is a lot of helpful, practical information and tools here for you.

The path of Family Discipleship zigs and zags, twists and turns, goes up and comes down. The intention of this purposeful discipleship isn’t that the path is straight and easy…the intention is the destination.
That's what we talk about on today's episode of Fridays are for Families.
Kids are tricky, aren’t they? We love them so deeply, and yet they frustrate us so much. We are so thankful for them, and yet they seem specially designed to push many of our buttons.
This is what we talk about today on Friday's are for Families.
We all know that kids aren’t always easy. Whether it is their behavior, their emotions, or special circumstances, all kids go through phases that make parenting more difficult. So how do we continue to point our kids to Jesus when our kid’s behaviors make getting through the day hard?
That's what we talk about in this week’s episode of Fridays are for Families.
I believe that it is in our struggles that our kids see clearest whether or not we actually believe what the Bible says. It’s in these moments of pain and struggle, things not going well, our plans failing, circumstances beyond our control continually hitting, that our faith is revealed.
Today we'll talk about that and more in this new episode of Friday's are for Families.
Have you ever gone through a rough period of life and wondered how you were ever going to get through it, let alone continue to parent your kids? We all go through trials and suffering. In fact, Jesus tells us it is part of following Him. So, in the hard times of life, how do we faithfully continue to disciple our children?
We will cover that in this week’s episode of Friday’s are for Families!
Is it inviting God into your heart? Is it a prayer you have to pray over and over again? Does it just save you from eternity separated from God? Is this something to check off the list and then live however you want?
This week in our theology conversation, we talk about salvation and how to talk to our kids about this concept. It is something that could be simple, yet is also complex at times, which we have seemed to further complicate with the words we use and the ways we grew up.
How can we have this important conversation? Tune in to our final episode from season 3 of Fridays are for Families!
Questions you can ask:
• What do you think it looks like to follow Jesus?
• How do you know if you are saved? Do you have a personal relationship with Jesus?
• Once you are a part of God’s family, what does that mean for you?
Pastor Jeff, or Grandpa Boss??
This week for Fridays are for Families, we interviewed Pastor Jeff. We talk about what discipleship looked like in the McNicol home as their girls grew up and what it looks like now as the parents of adult children.
We also hear some of the backstory behind what his granddaughter calls him! You don't want to miss that story!
This week on Fridays are for Families we talk about The Church. It's more than just our local church - the Church is global, or universal. What does that mean? How can we talk to our kids about The Church? One of the essential things we try to model for and teach to our kids here at Pathway is that they aren't just the Church of the future, but very much are a part of the Church today. That's reflected in how we teach, what we invite them into, and the influence they have in our congregation. Take a moment one Sunday or Thursday at Pathway and look around - how many kids and teens do you see?
How can you have more conversations with your kid about what the Church is, what their place is in the Church, and how to live as a member of the Body of Christ today? One way to have more conversations is to listen in to this conversation we have today and invite your kid to watch or listen right alongside.

This month for Friday's are for Families we interviewed Pathway's Executive Pastor, John Westurn, and spent some time talking about what discipleship looked like in the Westurn home as their kids grew up and what it looks like today as grandparents.
Pastor John offers a unique perspective having been a youth pastor for a number of those formative years in the life of his kids. He and Michele also talk about their adoption and how that impacted their family and discipleship. We encourage you to give this a listen!
This month our theology conversation centers around the person of the Holy Spirit. Who is He? What does He do? How do we talk to our kids about Him? What place does He have in our faith and our day-to-day lives?
We invite you to join Ben and Jenna as they talk about this theological concept from our Gospel Project curriculum!
Questions you can ask:
• Would you rather have Jesus with you right now, or the Holy Spirit? Why?
• Tell me what you know about the holy spirit
• Is it comforting to know that if you believe in Jesus, the Holy spirit is living inside of you?
This week we interviewed Jenine Pyle about what Family Discipleship looks like in the Pyle home.
We aren't here to do things perfectly, but to seek to be intentional in the way we disciple in our homes. Though it looks different for different families, our prayer and goal is simply that every family would disciple their kids at home to be and to make disciples of Jesus Christ.

This month our theology conversation centers around the question of knowing God...how can we know that God actually wants us to know Him? What evidence, or proof do we have? We invite you to join Ben and Jenna as they talk about this concept from our Gospel Project curriculum!
Questions you can ask:
• What do you think about not being able to see God, and how does that make you feel?
• What are some things that Jesus teaches us about who God is?
• How does it make you feel to know that God loves you enough that He pursues you?
What's with the hats? You'll have to watch to find out! We talk about everything from Christmas traditions to expectations to our own memories of Christmas as kids growing up. This is a fun one!
This episode of Friday's are for Families focuses in on the birth of Jesus. How do we talk to our kids about Christmastime? How do we talk about the birth of Jesus? What do our kids understand about His birth? Why did Jesus come in the way He did?
We invite you to join Jenna and Ben as they talk about this Advent season and specifically talking in your home about the birth of Jesus.
