Description

Voiced by veteran talk show host Adam McManus and written by radio-host and pastor Kevin Swanson and a team of other staff writers, The World View in 5 Minutes is a round-up of the daily news from a Biblical perspective. And, perhaps most uniquely, you will often hear applicable Scriptures paired with the stories themselves. It’s part Paul Harvey, part R.C. Sproul.

You’ll get hooked to the most definitively Christian overview of the news including politics, pop culture, the church, and tracing God’s sovereign hand in the affairs of man.

It’s Monday, June 3, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I’m Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Pakistani officials refusing to prosecute Muslims for death by torture With suspects in a homicide case pressuring the victim’s relatives to make false statements, police in Lahore, Pakistan are declining to arrest them in the case of a Catholic man tortured to death by his Muslim employers, reports The Christian Post. Sonia Shahid, widow of 35-year-old Masih Shahid and mother to their six children, said her husband’s employer tortured him on May 8, resulting in his death 10 days later. The Muslim employer wrongly suspected he had stolen goats from a farm in the Sheikhupura District located in the Punjab Province. Proverbs 24:1-2 says, “Do not envy the wicked, do not desire their company; for their hearts plot violence, and their lips talk about making trouble.” According to Open Doors, Pakistan is the seventh most dangerous country worldwide for Christians to live. House Speaker Johnson predicts Trump victory Appearing on “Fox and Friends,” House Speaker Mike Johnson, Republican from Louisiana, reacted to the Trump guilty verdict in the hush money trial. JOHNSON: “What happened there was outrageous and the American people see it. This is a purely political exercise, not a legal one. Everybody knows that; they know intuitively that it's wrong. The people are outraged. “Because President Trump is crushing Joe Biden in the polls, they see the Democrat Party and the Left so desperate to stop him that they'll risk the destruction of our entire legal system to do it. And that is not hyperbole. That's what's going on here. “We broke records on our fundraising platforms last night. We even set up a new website, go to http://www.SupportDJT.com. Stand with him and make sure the right verdict is rendered November 5th. That's the American people's verdict.” House Speaker Johnson made a bold prediction. JOHNSON: “I'm going to tell you what will happen. I predict this will increase turnout on our side, that he will win decisively. He will become the next president. He was already, as I said, crushing Joe Biden in the polls. “I think, as this plays out, and people get more and more frustrated about it, I think it will help us and that huge enthusiasm gap, that already existed between the Trump and Biden campaigns, will be even wider. “People now see Donald Trump as a symbol of something. He's more than just an individual. He's a symbol of fighting back against this government corruption, the deep state, the bureaucracy, and all the rest. We need his leadership in the White House, now more than ever.” Mark Levin: Trump attorneys should appeal to Supreme Court Appearing on Sean Hannity’s Fox show, radio talk show host Mark Levin summarized his take on the Trump guilty verdict. LEVIN: “I'll say this: no crime, no jurisdiction, no due process, conflicted judge, [George] Soros prosecutor, Manhattan jury.” Levin urged Trump’s attorneys to appeal the guilty verdict to the U.S. Supreme Court. LEVIN: “So, what they need to do now, in my view, is to go up the appellate chain in New York. We need to stop whining about how long that's going to take. Seek an emergency trial to get to the Supreme Court. People say, ‘Well, they're not going to take it.’ “You know, what if George Patton had said, ‘I don't think I can get to the Battle of the Bulge in time,’  we would have lost World War II. “I am sick and tired of these legal defeatists. We need to stop whining, stop complaining. We know what we're up against. We gotta fight these people with our smarts. We have to take some risks. “We need to look at Bush v. Gore. Why did the Supreme Court take that case from the Florida Supreme Court? We need to give the Supreme Court the opportunity to fix this. “Why? We cannot have local acting judges, [George] Soros’ District Attorney's Office, 15,000 District Attorneys’ offices, God knows how many state judges -- destroying our federal election system, influencing how we elect the president of the United States. “And if we have a pathway to bring it to the Supreme Court, even though it's rarely used, we use it. We use every legal quiver that we possibly can muster, rather than sitting around and saying, ‘Well, it'll take three months.’ Fine! So far, the judicial system, so far, has let down the American people. The Supreme Court needs to step up. This is a federal matter, a presidential matter, and it's gonna get worse before it gets better.” Golf champion Grayson Murray, 30, committed suicide The parents of PGA champion Grayson Murray, who died mysteriously at the age of 30, have now revealed that he died by suicide. In a statement through the PGA Tour website, Eric and Terry Murray said, “We have spent the last 24 hours trying to come to terms with the fact that our son is gone. It’s surreal that we not only have to admit it to ourselves, but that we also have to acknowledge it to the world. It’s a nightmare. “Life wasn’t always easy for Grayson, and although he took his own life, we know he rests peacefully now. “Please honor Grayson by being kind to one another. If that becomes his legacy, we could ask for nothing else.” Grayson had struggled with alcoholism, anxiety, and depression. He said this to a reporter. GRAYSON MURRAY: “If my game is a 9 out of 10, my mental game was a 1 out of 10 for my whole career really. That's what's kept me from being the player that I could have been.” After winning the Sony Open in Honolulu, Hawaii in January 2024 by sinking a 40-foot birdie putt in a playoff, Murray said he became sober in May 2023. In front of a live national TV audience, he credited Jesus for his success, reported CBN. REPORTER: “How important is the work that you've done off the golf course battling alcoholism, mental struggles? How important was that for you to be in the right frame of mind today?” MURRAY: “It's everything, you know. Jesus Christ is first and foremost. Without Him, none of this would be possible. He's just given me a platform to write a new story, write my own story. My hope is everyone there at home watching can get a little inspiration from me. If I just help one person, that's all it takes. Jesus Christ changed my life.” Tragically, in a moment of sadness, his mental anguish trumped his hope in Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 says, “So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen, but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.” The Worldview needs to raise $114,200 by Friday, June 28th And finally, during the month of June, The Worldview newscast team is looking for financial partners to help fund the next fiscal year for a total of $114,200. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Trump found guilty in hush money trial On Thursday, a Manhattan jury took fewer than 12 hours to return a guilty verdict in former President Donald Trump’s New York criminal trial. The jurors found him guilty of 34 counts of falsification of business records with the intent to conceal another crime, reports The Epoch Times. The former president’s conviction makes him the first U.S. president to be convicted of a crime. Short of a successful appeal, he could now be facing such penalties as jail time, probation, or fines. Ultimately, his sentence will be up to the presiding judge, Justice Juan Merchan. The judge has set the sentencing hearing for July 11 at 10:00 a.m. The six-week trial revolved around $130,000 in payments that Trump’s former attorney, Michael Cohen, paid disreputable film actress Stormy Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, ahead of the 2016 presidential election. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg claimed that Cohen made the payments on Trump’s behalf to buy Clifford’s silence over an alleged affair that the former president denies took place. The district attorney further charged that Trump mislabeled his reimbursements to Cohen to conceal another crime, constituting felony-level falsification of business records. Bragg spoke to the press after the guilty verdict. BRAGG: “Their deliberations led them to make a decision based on the evidence and the law and the evidence and the law alone. Their deliberations led them to a unanimous conclusion, beyond a reasonable doubt, that the defendant, Donald J. Trump, is guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records, in the first degree, to conceal a scheme to corrupt the 2016 election.” As for what the underlying crime was, the prosecution was vague, identifying tax fraud, violations of federal election law, or the falsification of additional business records as possibilities. Notably, to return a guilty verdict, Judge Merchan explained that the jury was not required to agree on what the underlying crime was—just that there was one. In Job 42:2, Job made this statement to God: “I know that You can do all things, and that no purpose of Yours can be thwarted.” Trump: “This was a rigged decision right from day one.” After the guilty verdict, Trump made a statement. TRUMP: “This was a disgrace. This was a rigged trial by a conflicted judge who was corrupt. They wouldn't give us a venue change. We were at 5% or 6% in this district, in this area. The real verdict is going to be November 5 by the people. And they know what happened here. And everybody knows what happened here. We have a Soros-backed D.A. I'm a very innocent man, and fighting for our country and fighting for our Constitution. “Our whole country is being rigged right now. This was done by the Biden administration in order to wound or hurt an opponent, a political opponent. We will keep fighting or we’ll fight till the end and will win. “We don't have the same country anymore. We have a divided mess. We're a nation to decline, serious decline. Millions and millions of people pouring into our country right now from prisons and from mental institutions, terrorists, and they're taking over our country. We have a country that's in big trouble. This was a rigged decision right from day one with a conflicted judge who should have never been allowed to try this case. Never. This is long from over. Thank you very much.” Biden Campaign: “No one is above the law.” Michael Tyler, the communications director for President Joe Biden’s campaign, said, “In New York today, we saw that no one is above the law. Donald Trump has always mistakenly believed he would never face consequences for breaking the law for his own personal gain. “Convicted felon or not, Trump will be the Republican nominee for president. He is running an increasingly unhinged campaign of revenge and retribution. … A second Trump term means chaos, ripping away Americans’ freedoms, and fomenting political violence – and the American people will reject it this November.” Laura Ingraham: “This will be the new normal.” Fox News host Laura Ingraham, host of “The Ingraham Angle,” sounded off on the Trump guilty verdict. INGRAHAM: “Think about this. Donald Trump gave up fame, fortune, and a very comfortable life to try to save America from the forces that are trying to tear it down right now. And if they can do this to someone like Donald Trump with his means, it will be very difficult to ever turn this around. So, are we going to establish a precedent where the President can put his political opponent in jail? Because if they can do this now, this will, I promise you, this will be the new normal.” Firefighter sues over being ordered to raise homosexual pride flag And finally, in March 2023, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors passed a resolution requiring that all county-operated facilities fly the homosexual/transgender Progress Pride Flag for the month of June, reports LifeSiteNews.com. In June 2023, Captain Jeffrey Little requested a religious accommodation that would exempt him from personally participating in the required raising of the Progress Pride Flag. On June 19, 2023, the Los Angeles County Fire Department initially granted Little’s request and promised him that he would neither have to raise the Progress Pride Flag himself nor personally ensure that the flag was raised at his station. However, Little’s religious accommodation was rescinded two days later on June 21, 2023. Then, the following day, June 22, 2023, Division Chief Fernando Boiteux issued a direct order to Little to raise the Progress Pride Flag. He said, “You are an L.A. County employee. That’s the only thing that matters. Your religious beliefs do not matter.”  Thomas More Society attorneys are representing Captain Little in a federal lawsuit against the Los Angeles County Fire Department, which has illegally threatened Little with dismissal over his refusal to raise the homosexual/transgender “Progress Pride Flag.” The case, filed on May 24, 2024, in United States District Court for the Central District of California, charges the fire department with violating Little’s rights under the First Amendment, federal law, and state law. Little’s sincere and deeply held religious beliefs prohibit his participation in raising the so-called Progress Pride Flag. For that, he has suffered religious discrimination, harassment, and retaliation at the hands of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The department revealed to unauthorized persons that Little had requested a religious accommodation. Following that disclosure, Little received a death threat that also targeted his daughters. Psalm 34:19 says, “The righteous man may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Friday, May 31st in the year of our Lord 2024. Subscribe by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark India imprisoned 70 Christians Officials in the North Indian state of Uttar Pradesh are holding nearly 70 Christians in jail. They faced arrest under the state’s 2020 anti-conversion law. Authorities in the area stormed church meetings and arrested pastors on false charges of forcefully converting Hindus. Once imprisoned, it is very difficult to get Christians out since officials often deny bail applications.  Please pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ in India, ranked 11th on the Open Doors’ World Watch List of nations where it is most difficult to be a Christian.  In Matthew 5:11-12, Jesus said, “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in Heaven.” 20,000 French Christians March for Jesus Thousands of people joined the March for Jesus over the weekend in cities across France. The motto of the march was “Lets bear witness publicly and in unity about our faith in Jesus Christ.” Organizers wanted it to be “a joyful and peaceful testimony of a living faith that wants to touch hearts, through the praise, prayer and proclamation of the Word of God which are at the heart of the march.”  Remarkably, 20,000 marchers turned out in Paris, including many young people.  250,000 dead babies in England and Wales New data shows over 250,000 babies were killed by abortion in England and Wales in 2022.  That’s the highest on record and an increase of 17% over 2021. The Society for the Protection of Unborn Children noted, “In 2022, medical abortion (drugs/pills) accounted for 86% of all abortions, up from 48% in 2012. Abortions taking place entirely at home increased by 9% between 2021 and 2022, amounting to 61% of all abortions.” 40% of British Christians do not evangelize Also in British news, a recent survey found many Christians in the U.K. don’t want to talk about their faith with others. The Institute for the Impact of Faith in Life found nearly 40% of Christians agreed with the statement, “I prefer not to tell people about my faith or religious belief.”  However, exclusionist Christians were much more likely to talk about their faith. The survey identified only 28% of Christians as exclusionist, those who say their faith is the only true faith.  Speaking of the name of Jesus, the Apostle Peter said in Acts 4:12, “There is no other name under Heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Louisiana bans using force or fraud to give pregnant woman abortion pill In the U.S., Republican Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry signed the Abortion by Fraud Criminalization Act into law last week. The measure bans people from using force or fraud to get a pregnant woman to take an abortion-inducing drug. The law also makes such drugs only available through prescription.  Republican state Sen. Thomas Pressly sponsored the legislation. The Office of the Governor noted that Pressly was inspired to do this after his sister was “unknowingly poisoned by her former husband while she was pregnant by the abortion-inducing drug Misoprostol.” Good outcome for Christian who toppled Satanist statue In January, authorities in Iowa charged a Christian Navy veteran with a felony hate crime.  The month before, Michael Cassidy had toppled a Satanist statue that was in the state’s capitol building.  He faced up to five years in jail if convicted. But, last Friday, officials dropped the felony charge. Cassidy posted on Facebook, “Not today, Satan. Pleased to announce the Iowa District Attorney just dropped their absurd felony hate crime charge and instead offered a deferred judgement misdemeanor (a fine, no jail time, nothing permanent on my record), which I accepted. Many thanks to my family, my lawyers, my community, and the many Christians who have supported us. … When Christians stick together, we can, and we will, win.”  God is lining up six planets And finally, God has more celestial events in store this year. In recent months, many experienced a solar eclipse and a rare display of the Northern Lights.  Next, six planets are set to align in the early morning hours of June 3rd. CBS News reports, “During the solar spectacle, the orbits of Jupiter, Mercury, Uranus, Mars, Neptune, and Saturn will bring the six planets to the same side of the sun. The planets won't form an actual straight line in space, because of the elliptical shapes of their orbits ... but from some angles on Earth, they will appear to be aligned.”  Observers will need a telescope or powerful binoculars. And the East Coast will have the best view of the planetary parade. Psalm 19:1 says, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.”  Close And that's The Worldview in 5 Minutes on this Thursday, May 30th, in the year of our Lord 2024. Subscribe by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Kazakhstan officials raid Protestant churches Officials in Kazakhstan raided several Protestant churches in recent months. Police fined pastors and congregants for not being registered with the government. Pastors also faced charges of illegal missionary activity.  Last year, individuals and organizations in the Central Asian country faced over 200 cases of such prosecutions for exercising their freedom of religion.  The local Baptist Council of Churches said, “What has been happening in the last month . . . has aroused serious concern among Evangelical communities, which have experienced persecution for their religious activity.” According to Open Doors, Kazakhstan is the 47th most difficult country worldwide in which to be a Christian. Finnish Christian politician harassed by hostile court system A Christian politician is preparing to stand trial for the third time over her Biblical beliefs. As The Worldview reported on April 22nd, Päivi Räsänen is a former government minister and sitting Finnish parliamentarian. She recently submitted her defense to the Finnish Supreme Court.  Lower courts acquitted her of “hate speech” after she posted Bible verses online in opposition to sexually perverted lifestyles. However, the State prosecutor appealed the case to the country’s Supreme Court.  Räsänen said, “An acquittal by the Supreme Court would … provide a clearer and stronger safeguard for the freedom of Christians to present the teachings of the Bible–and it would strengthen the principle of freedom of expression in general.”  More hurricanes on the way The U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is predicting more hurricanes this year than normal. The 2024 Atlantic hurricane season lasts from June 1 to November 30. The group predicts an 85% chance of an above-normal season.  The forecast includes 8 to 13 hurricanes. Four to seven of those are expected to be major hurricanes.  Job said in Job 26:12 and 14, “[God] stirs up the sea with His power, and by His understanding He breaks up the storm. … Indeed, these are the mere edges of His ways … the thunder of His power who can understand?” Political gender gap A new poll by the Institute of Politics at Harvard Kennedy School highlights the growing gender gap among young people. President Joe Biden leads former President Donald Trump by eight percentage points among Americans under 30. Among young women, Biden leads by 33 points. But among young men, Biden only leads by six points, down from 26 points in 2020. In 2020, 42% of young men identified as Democrat and 20% as Republican. Now, 32% identify as Democrat and 29% as Republican.  Transgender surgeries lead to suicide attempts Last month, researchers published a study in the medical science journal called Cureus, entitled “Risk of Suicide and Self-Harm Following Gender-Affirmation Surgery.” The study evaluated 90 million adults in the U.S. It found that people who get sex-mutilating surgeries are more likely to attempt suicide. The study noted, “Individuals who underwent gender-affirming surgery had a 12-fold higher suicide attempt risk than those who did not.”  Pro-life pregnancy centers provided $360 million of services in 2022 This month, the Charlotte Lozier Institute, a pro-life research group, released a report on the impact of pro-life centers in 2022. The U.S. had 2,750 pregnancy resource centers at the time. Overall, they provided over $360 million in pro-life services and goods to individuals and families. That’s over $100 million than the services and goods provided in 2019. Demand for pro-life services has increased since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022. Despite this, pro-abortion attorneys general and lawmakers are targeting pro-life pregnancy centers.  Environmental activists vs. Christian New Jersey community For generations, Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association, a Christian group in Ocean Grove, New Jersey, has closed its private beach on Sunday to honor the fourth commandment. Recently, the state’s Department of Environmental Protection has been threatening the Christian camp group with fines of $25,000 for every Sunday that they remain closed because the group is allegedly violating beach access laws. As a result of the pressure, the Christian group has relented and opened their private beach on the Lord’s Day. Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association said it would challenge the order in court to “preserve our property rights and religious freedom.” Young adults embrace lying, abortion, and sexual perversion And finally, Dr. George Barna released his latest research on Biblical worldview in America. The study noted that younger generations are leading a big shift in our country’s morals. Less than half of adults under 40 say the Bible is their guide to morality. Most adults under 40 reject absolute moral truth and embrace lying, abortion, and sexually perverted lifestyles.  Dr. Barna said, “By abandoning the absolute boundaries given to us in the Bible, we have opted for unpredictable and conflicting standards that serve us poorly. You always reap what you sow. America is now harvesting the sad product of what it has been cultivating for the last 40-plus years.” Isaiah 55:6-7 says, “Seek the LORD while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, and He will have mercy on him.” Close And that's The Worldview in 5 Minutes on this Wednesday, May 29th, in the year of our Lord 2024. Subscribe by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. At issue is a nationwide revival that occurred in association with the Mountain Gateway evangelical outreach.  A million people heard the Christian Gospel at eight events in 2023. Unbelievably, the pastors face 12-15 years in prison for their participation in the revivals.  And now, 58 members of the U.S. Congress signed a bipartisan letter addressed to the Ambassador of Nicaragua, expressing alarm over Nicaragua’s violations of religious freedom. Additionally, House Resolution 1019, also introduced in February, expresses concern “that United States citizens affiliated with the Mountain Gateway ministry are being targeted for arrest and extradition by the Nicaraguan government.” Pray for the Christian pastors incarcerated in Nicaragua today. New Guinea landslide kills 2,000 A massive landslide in New Guinea may have taken the lives of as many as 2,000 people, reports the Post-Courier. The landslide destroyed most of Tulipana Village in Enga Province, at 3:00 am on Friday morning. This marks the deadliest natural disaster in the world for 2024 thus far.  Olympics spotlight drag queens The 2024 Paris Summer Olympics will feature three drag queens hoisting the Olympic torch. It’s all in accord with the Olympic theme this year which is “Games Wide Open.” The International Olympic Committee has agreed to remove testing restrictions for male competitors who are pretending to be women. That  means any man can call himself a woman and compete in 38 out of 48 women’s categories. The Olympic site is boasting of “full gender equality” this year. Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo affirmed that “I am proud and, yes, Paris is proud, that a drag queen will carry the torch and the values of peace and humanity.” Blue states’ low fertility rates The lowest fertility rates in the United States of America are now found in blue states, known for their leftist leanings, according to recent data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Vermont is the lowest at 1.35 children per woman, followed by Oregon and New Hampshire.  The blue states of Colorado, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island range between 1.4 and 1.5. Overall, the U.S. fertility rate is now 1.62, down from 3.6 in 1960. More potheads than lushes There are now more daily or near daily users of marijuana in the United States than daily users of alcohol.   Since 1992, the number of marijuana daily users has increased from 900,000 to 17.7 million.  Alcohol daily users have increased from 9 million to 14.7 million over the same time period. At this point, 74% of Americans live in states that have legalized pot. U.S. tornadoes and storms killed 21 In God’s providence, more tornadoes and severe storms killed another 21 people in the U.S. over the weekend. Nearly 100 were injured and seven killed in a powerful tornado that struck near the Texas-Oklahoma border.  This is reported to be the most active tornado season in seven years, with 442 tornadoes so far reported for the month of May, according to Fox News.  Walmart pushes sexual perversion Some say, “Go Woke. Go Broke.” But now, Walmart has opened up its “Pride Always” line of products in commemoration of what has become known as June Pride Month.   A recent Fox News report pointed out that Target is pulling back on its Pride celebration, while Walmart is advancing the Pride agenda. “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.” That’s Proverbs 16:18. Randall Terry is Constitution Party presidential nominee Former Operation Rescue director, Randall Terry, is the Constitution Party’s nominee for the 2024 presidential race. The pro-life activist declared, “The Democrats are running ON child killing.  The Republicans are running AWAY from child killing. We are running AT child killing, to END child killing!” However, the Constitution Party has never done better than 0.2% of the vote, and 0.04% of the vote in 2020.  According to its website, the Constitution Party is on the ballot in 12 states and is petitioning to be on more. In 2022, the party made it on the ballot in 15 states, including the battleground states of Georgia, Wisconsin, and Michigan. Homosexual activist clinches Libertarian presidential nomination And finally, Chase Oliver, a homosexual and political activist, won the Libertarian Party nomination for President over the weekend, reports CNN. He beat out former President Donald Trump and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., both attempting to secure the Libertarian vote. Kennedy received 19 votes and Trump received six. Chase Oliver received 497 votes in the final tally or 60%. He  supports the legalization of killing unborn babies and he is campaigning to abolish the death penalty for those who commit murder. In one Facebook post, Missions In Haiti documented that Davy and Natalie Lloyd, full-time missionaries to Haiti, “were ambushed by a gang of three trucks full of guys. Davy was taken to the house tied up and beat.” Tragically, they were shot and killed at 9:00 p.m. Natalie was the daughter of Missouri State Rep. Ben Baker who said, "My heart is broken in a thousand pieces. I’ve never felt this kind of pain. They went to Heaven together. Please pray for my family. We desperately need strength." Former President Donald Trump said, "Such a tragedy. Haiti is totally out of control. Find the killers NOW!!!" Haiti, an island nation plagued by poverty, natural disasters, and corruption, has plunged into further turmoil since February 29, when gangs launched coordinated attacks, burned police stations, opened fire on the main international airport, and stormed Haiti’s two biggest prisons, releasing more than 4,000 inmates. Plus, the country’s largest seaport remains paralyzed as food and medication dwindle. At least 1.4 million Haitians are on the verge of famine. Trump holds Bronx rally, endorsed by black Puerto Rican politician Former President Donald Trump did something unusual. Last Thursday, he held a campaign rally in The Bronx, a Democratic borough of New York City where 85% of residents are black or Hispanic. TRUMP:  “Hello New York City! And hello to all of the incredible, tough, strong, hardworking, American patriots right here in The Bronx.  (cheers) Who would think? Who would think?” Although Trump has been leading President Joe Biden in polls of battleground states, Biden has been outdistancing Trump by at least 9% in New York, reports The Epoch Times. New York’s voter registrations are lopsided in favor of Democrats. Statewide, Democrats outnumber Republicans 2-to-1. In Bronx County, there are only 43,000 registered Republicans—less than one-tenth the Democrat total of 507,000, according to the New York State Board of Elections. That’s why Democrats scoffed online at the significance of Trump’s audience in the Bronx. Crowd estimates ranged from 7,000 to more than 20,000. Even in a best-case-scenario, the rally attendance doesn’t begin to dent the voter-registration deficit in a state that has 13 million voters. But Trump made his best case on how his presidency financially benefitted all racial groups because of lower taxes, energy independence, and a strong economy. TRUMP:  “We had the greatest economy in history. Everybody had the best they've ever had. African-American jobs were the best in history. Asian-American, the best in history. Hispanic, the best in history, women, people with the diploma, people without a diploma. People that went to the great Wharton School of Finance, MIT, Harvard -- they were doing better. And the people that didn't have a high school diploma were having the, everybody was better. There wasn't one group, not one that went down. And it was bringing our country together.” Voter surveys show an increasing number of young, Hispanic, and black voters shifting toward Trump. After Trump’s speech, former New York City councilman Rubén Díaz Sr., a Democrat, endorsed him. Listen. DIAZ: “Mr. President, I want to join you in having the Bronx great again. (cheers) Please accept this Democrat, this black Puerto Rican with the kinky hair and the broken English, please accept my endorsement for you as president. Thank you very much.” (cheers) TRUMP: “How nice was that. I didn't expect that, really! That was beautiful!” Senator Graham objects to Justice Alito’s “Appeal to Heaven” flag Republican Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina recently lectured Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito for allowing his home to fly an upside-down American flag and the Appeal to Heaven flag dating back to the early stages of the American War for Independence, reports The Blaze. The hornet’s nest was stirred up when Obama biographer, Jodi Kantor, wrote an article in the New York Times centering on an American flag that was displayed upside down outside Alito's New Jersey vacation home back in mid-January 2021. Alito said that his wife – Martha-Ann Alito – flew the flag in their yard for a short time "in response to a neighbor's use of objectionable and personally insulting language on yard signs." The New York Times then ran another article highlighting that an "Appeal to Heaven" flag was displayed outside Alito's vacation home in July and September 2023. The paper attempted to frame the flags as having negative connotations because some protesters carried the flags during the January 6th rally in D.C. The Appeal to Heaven flag was commissioned by George Washington, and has been in existence since 1775. The flag was first used by the Massachusetts Navy during the American Revolutionary War. It was among the first flags to symbolize the American colonies' pursuit of independence from the British. The yellow flag features a green pine tree and the phrase "An appeal to Heaven." That quote comes from British political philosopher John Locke. Graham lambasted Alito for flying the flags, saying, "Emotions are apparently high in that neighborhood. It’s not good judgment to do that.” But Republican Senator Mike Lee of Utah said, “Martha-Ann Alito has every right to hang whatever flag she wants. In whatever manner she wants. She is a free citizen. And a freedom-loving, American patriot." And House Speaker Mike Johnson also defended Justice Alito. He told CNN last Wednesday, "It's George Washington’s flag. It goes back to the founder’s era. I’ve always flown that flag." Johnson features “The Appeal to Heaven” flag outside of his office door. Job 16:19 says, “My Witness is in Heaven; my Advocate is on high.” Golfer Grayson Murray died And finally, two-time PGA Tour winner Grayson Murray died Saturday morning at age 30, one day after he withdrew from the Charles Schwab Cup Challenge at Colonial, reports Fox Sports. There were no immediate details on the circumstances of his death. Murray, who had dealt with alcohol and mental health issues in the past, made a massive turnaround this year and won the Sony Open in January 2024. Previously, Murray made this comment. MUURAY: “My parents have been through hell and back basically for the last six years with me, fighting some mental stuff. It's not easy. I think our society now is getting better about accepting that it's okay to not be okay type deal. I’m not ashamed that I go through depression, anxiety.” PGA golfer Bubba Watson tweeted, "Very sad to hear the news of Grayson Murray’s passing today. Life is so fragile.” James 4:14 says, “You do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Monday, May 27th in the year of our Lord 2024. Subscribe by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. Authorities just freed 135 women and 206 children from a Boko Haram Muslim terrorist stronghold, reports The Associated Press.   We praise the Lord for this incredible news! Yet we know an uncertain future awaits these precious sisters in Christ.   Many of the women—who were widowed, kidnapped and held hostage for years by the Muslims—now have no homes or livelihoods to return to. And some have several young mouths to feed after being subjected to sexual assaults and forced marriages in the Boko Haram compound.  That’s where Global Christian Relief and their partners come in. They’re on the ground in multiple Nigerian refugee camps, meeting the needs of courageous women and innocent children who have been impacted by Boko Haram.  You could help someone like Deborah. She escaped Boko Haram after nearly two years in captivity, arriving sick and exhausted at a refugee camp. Deborah says, "Global Christian Relief’s partners assisted me and provided for all my needs. Everything -- food, water, my children’s health care, shelter, a bed to lie on. May God repay you for your generosity!” Your $36 gift through Global Christian Relief can supply displaced children and orphans with comforting toys. Nikki Haley belatedly endorses Trump After former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley withheld her endorsement for a few months since suspending her campaign for the Republican presidential nomination, she revealed she would vote for Trump during an event on Wednesday at the Hudson Institute, reports Real Clear Politics. Listen. MODERATOR: “Who do you think would do a better job in the White House? Joe Biden or Donald Trump?” HALEY: “As a voter, I put my priorities on a president who is going to have the backs of our allies and hold our enemies to account, who would secure the border -- no more excuses. A president who would support capitalism and freedom, a president who understands we need less debt, not more debt. “Trump has not been perfect on these policies.  I have made that clear many, many times. But Biden has been a catastrophe. So, I will be voting for Trump. “Having said that, I stand by what I said in my suspension speech. Trump would be smart to reach out to the millions of people who voted for me, and continue to support me, and not assume that they're just going to be with him. And I genuinely hope he does that.” Supreme Court upholds new South Carolina redistricting Yesterday, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of South Carolina’s redrawn congressional map, reversing a lower court decision, reports The Epoch Times. While the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People challenged the map, arguing that legislators were motivated by race when drawing district lines, Justice Samuel Alito, speaking for the majority, wrote, “[The challengers] provided no direct evidence of a racial gerrymander, and their circumstantial evidence is very weak.” Aborting babies up to birth on South Dakota ballot Pro-lifers in South Dakota have work to do now that a pro-abortion group has placed a proposal on the state’s November 5 ballot that seeks to ensure women can kill their unborn children up to birth, reports LifeSiteNews.com. South Dakota’s Republican Secretary of State Monae Johnson has announced that her office has validated just over 46,000 of the 55,000 signatures supportive of a constitutional amendment, submitted by a pro-abortion group, that would codify a so-called “right” to abortion. The group surpassed the necessary 35,000 signatures.  Proverbs 1:16 says, "For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood." Pro-life protestor and mother of 15 sentenced to 2 years in prison Pro-life advocate and mother of 15 Heather Idoni was sentenced by Judge Colleen Kotelly to 2 years in prison for blocking access to a late-term abortion mill in the nation’s capital, reports LifeSiteNews.com. Idoni, who recently suffered a stroke while incarcerated, was also denied home confinement despite ongoing health issues. Last fall, Idoni, age 59, was placed in prolonged solitary confinement for 22 days and deprived of sleep with the lights in her cell kept on continually. While awaiting sentencing, she suffered a stroke three weeks ago and had to be rushed to a hospital. Please keep Heather Idoni in your prayers. Christian couple refused to misgender foster kids or take to “gay” pride events And finally, a Christian couple is suing the state of Washington for denying their foster care license due to requirements that conflict with their religious beliefs, reports International Christian Concern. Shane and Jennifer Degross are a devoted Christian couple who served as foster parents for Washington’s Department of Children, Youth, and Families from 2013 to 2022. During their service, the Degrosses provided care for four children, meeting a critical need amid Washington’s shortage of placement families. In 2022, while reapplying for their foster care license, the Degrosses learned of new regulations requiring foster parents to use a foster child’s biologically inaccurate pronouns based on their gender confusion. The new regulations also required foster families to take children to “cultural events” such as homosexual pride parades and perverted drag queen shows. In October 2022, the Washington state foster group did not renew the Degrosses’ foster care license for reasons because of the couple’s Christian beliefs, which teach that each person is created in the image of God, either male or female, and that sex cannot be changed. In Mark 10:6, Jesus Himself said, “But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Friday, May 24th in the year of our Lord 2024. Subscribe by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Eritrea’s religious freedom violations The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom released an article last week, highlighting religious freedom violations in Eritrea, Africa. This month and next month mark 20 years since Eritrean officials arrested and imprisoned three pastors. The prisons remain in atrocious conditions. As of last year, officials are also holding about 500 Christians as prisoners. Frederick Davie with the commission said, “Religious freedom conditions in Eritrea remain extremely poor. The Commission was hopeful last year when Eritrean authorities started releasing some of those detained because of their faith or belief. Unfortunately, this effort included only a small number of prisoners.” Hebrews 13:3 says, “Remember the prisoners as if chained with them—those who are mistreated—since you yourselves are in the body also.” According to Open Doors, Eritrea, Africa is the fourth most difficult country worldwide in which to be a Christian. Majority of Scots have no religion Scotland began releasing its 2022 Census data on Tuesday. For the first time on record, a majority of Scots said they have no religion. Fifty-one percent of the Scottish population did not identify with a religion, up from 36.7% in 2011. Also, 20.4% identified with the Church of Scotland in 2022, down from 32.4% in 2011. Roman Catholic identification at 13.3% and “other Christian” identification at 5.1% has remained somewhat stable over the last decade. Muslim identification is 2.2%, up from 1.5%.  35% of Americans are not religious Professor Ryan Burge with Faith Facts released a report this week on religious identification in the U.S. Based on the Cooperative Election Study, he noted that 21% of Americans identified with no religion in 2008. That percentage grew to 35% in 2019. Since then, the percentage of non-religious Americans has plateaued. Oddly enough, the youngest generation appears to be growing more religious. Forty-two percent of Gen Z was religiously unaffiliated last year, down from 48% in 2022. Burge noted, “The share of non-religious Americans has stopped rising in any meaningful way.” CVS fired Christian nurse for refusing to dispense Abortion Kill Pill First Liberty Institute reached a settlement on behalf of a Christian nurse with CVS Health Corporation this week. CVS fired Robyn Strader for refusing to dispense abortion drugs. She had been operating under a religious accommodation to not prescribe the drugs for years. Stephanie Taub, Senior Counsel for First Liberty Institute, said, “We are thrilled that Robyn was able to reach a resolution with CVS. We are hopeful that companies across the country will recognize the religious liberty of their employees and work to protect those rights.” South Carolina protects kids from transgender drugs and surgeries On Tuesday, South Carolina’s Republican Governor Henry McMaster announced he signed the Help Not Harm bill into law. The law protects children from transgender drugs and surgeries and bans public funding of them. South Carolina is the 25th state to ban such procedures.  Trump leading Biden in 7 swing states A new Bloomberg poll found former President Donald Trump is leading President Joe Biden in seven swing states. The states are Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Trump led Biden 48% to 44% in a head-to-head matchup.  Trump also led Biden when the survey added in third-party and independent candidates like Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Cornel West, and Jill Stein. Home sales are down The sale of existing homes unexpectedly fell by 1.9% last month on an annual basis. Meanwhile, the housing inventory was still tight at the end of April. It was up 16% on an annual basis, but that only amounted to a 3.5-month supply. A six-month supply is considered normal. Tight supply affects prices. The median sale price of a home last month was $407,600, up 5.7% from last year.  Why the Nicene Creed was conceived And finally, this week marks the anniversary of the First Council of Nicaea nearly 1,700 years ago.  In May A.D. 325, about 300 Christian leaders convened in the city of Nicaea, located in modern-day Turkey.  The council dealt with the doctrine of the Trinity. In particular, the church at the time had to refute the heresy of Arianism, which denied that Christ was fully and eternally divine.  The council went on to affirm the Trinity and Christ as fully God in the Nicene Creed. It is recited by churches worldwide to this day.  Speaking of Christ, the creed affirms “one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds; God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God; begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by Whom all things were made.” John 1:1 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Close And that's The Worldview in 5 Minutes on this Thursday, May 23rd, in the year of our Lord 2024. Subscribe by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. Time magazine reports persecution incidents where Russians killed over 30 Ukrainian pastors, destroyed 600 Ukrainian church buildings, and over 100 cases of Russians who initiated interrogations, expulsions, or imprisonments. Protestants experienced 34% of the persecution incidents.  For example, Azat Azatyan, a Baptist children’s pastor, faced torture and over a month in captivity. He said, “[This is] what the Kremlin fears about Protestants: we follow God’s law, not theirs. But they want to have everything under their control.” In Acts 5:29, the Apostles said, “We ought to obey God rather than men.” Only 35% of Brits think religion is “good for society” The Institute for the Impact of Faith in Life released a report on religious attitudes in the United Kingdom. The report found only 36% of adults believe that religion is good for society. Forty-seven percent believe politicians should not speak about religion.  However, 62% of respondents did agree that Christian heritage is important to the United Kingdom. And young adults appear to be more religious. Sixty-nine percent of 18- to 24-year-olds believe their faith significantly impacts their lives, compared to 51% of those over 65. U.K. teachers prohibited from indoctrinating with “gender identity” The U.K. released new restrictions on school content regarding Relationships, Sex, and Health Education. The new guidelines ban teachers from covering such content for children under nine. Teachers also cannot introduce young students to the "contested theory of gender identity.”  This new guidance stated, “In light of the Cass Review, it is important that schools take a cautious approach to teaching about this sensitive topic and do not use any materials that present contested views as fact, including the view that gender is a spectrum.” The government also said that parents can see what resources schools are using on these subjects. 65% of Americans say inflation made lives worse In the United States, the Federal Reserve released its Economic Well-Being of US Households report for 2023. Seventy-two percent of adults said they were doing okay financially, down from 78% in 2021. Sixty-five percent of respondents also said inflation made their financial lives worse, and 19% said inflation made it much worse. Half of adults said were living paycheck to paycheck, and 17% said they could not pay their monthly bills. Biden released one million barrels of gas Speaking of inflation, the Biden administration is trying to tackle gas prices. The Energy Department announced yesterday the release of one million barrels of gasoline from the Northeast Gasoline Supply Reserve. In March, Congress passed a spending deal that required the reserve to be sold off and closed. Biden’s beef with pro-lifers The Biden administration is also tackling pro-lifers. Already, the administration has put a dozen pro-life advocates in prison. On Monday, the Justice Department filed suit against seven pro-lifers and two pro-life groups, Citizens for a Pro-Life Society and Red Rose Rescue. The Department accuses them of violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act. Monica Miller with Citizens for a Pro-Life Society said, “We have every confidence that through our great attorneys we will prevail over this bogus attempt by the weaponized [DOJ] to drag [pro-life groups] under its persecution of those who seek to defend the unborn from violence.” Louisiana wants to require schools display the Ten Commandments Louisiana may become the first state to require all publicly-funded schools, colleges, and universities to display the Ten Commandments. House Bill 71 requires schools to “display the Ten Commandments in each building it uses and every classroom under its jurisdiction.” The state’s House and Senate approved the bill this year. The House must give final approval before it heads to the desk of Republican Governor Jeff Landry.  Deuteronomy 6:6-9 says, “These words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children. … You shall bind them as a sign on your hand. … You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” Christian teacher, who refused fake pronouns, wins $360,000 settlement And finally, a Christian teacher won a $360,000 settlement last week from a California school district in a religious freedom case. Jessica Tapia taught at the Jurupa Unified School District. The district required her to address students by incorrect, non-biologically accurate pronouns. Plus, she was told not to express her religious beliefs to students through social media. The district terminated Jessica after she refused to comply. So, Advocates for Faith and Freedom stepped in to defend her. After the settlement, Jessica said, “What happened to me can happen to anybody, and I want the next teacher to know that it is worth it to take a stand for what is right.”  Close And that's The Worldview in 5 Minutes on this Wednesday, May 22nd, in the year of our Lord 2024. Subscribe by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. Last week, two pro-life activists were sentenced to years in prison, for chaining themselves to furniture inside of the Washington D.C. Surgi-Clinic where abortions are performed. The protest occurred on October 22, 2020. As The Worldview reported on May 16th, 30-year-old Laruen Handy received a sentence of 4 years and 9 months. And 69-year-old John Hinshaw was sentenced to 1 year and 9 months. Steve Crampton, the Thomas More Society Senior Counsel who is representing the pro-lifers in this case, talked to Fox News Digital. He said, “This is not the America I know. …The contrast here with the Pro-Palestine folks shutting down the colleges and even preventing graduation ceremonies, and blocking entire highways and interstates, in addition to the ongoing attacks, yet there are virtually no ongoing investigations. I think there's kind of a palpable sense of selective prosecution elements that can't be ignored here.” The Thomas More Society is appealing the case.  Amos 3:6 asks, “If a trumpet is blown in a city, will not the people be afraid? The crash occurred in northwestern Iran near the border of Turkey. Raisi was elected as President in 2021. He represented the more hardline Islamic Clergy Association. During Raisi’s administration, Iran continued to build its nuclear weapons capacity and support Hamas militants in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon. The devastated Iranian economy Iran’s Gross Domestic Product per capita has suffered about the worst drop of any nation in the world — falling from $8,300 to $2,700 between 2012 and 2020. The country has only recovered slightly since then. Bidenomics is squeezing Americans  The assessment is in. Since the 2020 elections, Americans have slipped in their economic position. The Wall Street Journal reports that household net worth in the U.S. has flatlined since Biden took office.  That means no appreciable increase for the average household.  That compares to a 16% rise in household net worth over the 4-year Trump administration, adjusted for inflation. U.S. household income dropped by 5% Also, the U.S. median household income continues to fall from $78,250 back in 2019 to $74,580 today.   That’s about a 5% cut in pay over five years. Argentinian president’s great economic strides Forbes reports that Argentina’s President Javier Milei is making giant strides with his economic policies in his first year in office.   First quarter 2024 government finances revealed a budget surplus -- the first since 2008.  Remarkably, Milei eliminated 70,000 government jobs in Argentina and suspended new public works contracts.  Plus, the inflation rate is moving in a good direction — 8.8% last month, down from a whopping 25% in December.  Where do most sexual perverts live? An international survey, published by Statistica, finds the highest percentage of people who associate with a sexually perverted lifestyle commonly referred to as LGBTQ are the United States, Israel, the Philippines, Thailand, Canada, Sweden, Brazil, and Australia. Pope Francis asserts that he doesn’t allow blessings of homosexual unions The Roman Catholic Pope Francis was interviewed on CBS’s 60 Minutes. He  clarified that he would not allow a blessing of “homosexual unions” because “the Lord made [the sacrament] that way.” He said that blessing homosexual unions goes against the law of the church. However, Francis does advocate the blessing of the individual persons. Listen to the set up question by CBS’ Norah O’Donnell as well as the Pope’s  response. O’DONNELL: “Last year, you decided to allow Catholic priests to bless same-sex couples. That's a big change. Why?” POPE FRANCIS: “No, what I allowed was not to bless the union. That cannot be done because that is not the sacrament. I cannot. The Lord made it that way. But to bless each person? Yes. The blessing is for everyone.” Recently, the Pope criticized national governments that criminalize homosexuality, stating that the behavior is not a crime while still it is a sin. Let us remember Proverbs 3:33. “The curse of the LORD is on the house of the wicked, but He blesses the home of the just.” Supreme Court vs. parental rights on kids’ gender transitions And finally, the U.S. Supreme Court has taken a position against parental rights in schools that advocate gender transitions for children. Zhang Zhan, a 40-year-old Chinese Christian blogger, journalist, activist, and former human rights lawyer, was scheduled to be released on May 13 after four years in Shanghai’s Women Prison, reports The Associated Press. She was imprisoned in May 2020 after getting convicted of reporting on the outbreak of COVID-19 in Wuhan, China. The Free Zhang Zhan campaign issued a press release on May 13 stating that there was no confirmation of her release from prison. Plus, Zhang’s family had been under immense pressure from Chinese officials not to give any media interviews about her case. The press release added, “We are left wondering where she is, how she is doing physically and mentally, what’s happened to her family, and what the future holds for her. … It is totally unacceptable that the Chinese government subject many human rights defenders and their families to this kind of cruelty. Even after their release from prison, they are still deprived of their basic rights.” Zhang’s case highlights the Chinese government’s arbitrary arrests of Christians, journalists, and human rights lawyers who challenge the Communist government’s control and policies. He was also served a legal notice of his Arizona indictment for allegedly being involved in a plot to overturn the 2020 election in favor of ex-President Donald Trump, reports the New York Post. Around 11:00pm, after most of the 200 birthday guests -- including Trump advisors Roger Stone and Steve Bannon -- were gone, two officials from Democratic Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes’ office delivered the papers. Some of the party stragglers began screaming – including one woman who cried as Giuliani was handed the papers. Giuliani was the last of the 18 pro-Trump defendants to be served in the indictment returned by a grand jury last month. They’re accused of partaking in a failed bid to award Arizona’s 11 presidential electoral votes to Trump. Woman prayed while dangling from bridge in semi truck And finally, newly released dashcam footage of an accident that left a massive semitruck dangling from a bridge earlier this year is going viral. The shocking footage of the Kentucky four-vehicle crash, which unfolded Friday, March 1 on the Clark Memorial Bridge in Louisville, Kentucky, is absolutely terrifying, reports FaithWire.com. Trevor Branham, age 33, lost control of his vehicle, crossed into the wrong lanes, hit another car, then struck the semitruck in question. Sydney Thomas, age 26, was driving that semitruck, which was sent off the bridge and dangling 100 feet above the Ohio River. She described what happened to WHAS-TV. THOMAS: “He crossed over into the northbound lane and then he hit me. And once he hit me, he took my suspension out. It didn't matter which way I turned the wheel, the truck was going to go [in] whatever direction it wanted to go in. I felt myself veering off to the left. And then, I saw myself going over the railing and I was, like, ‘Well, this is it!’ “When I went through the railing, I was just thinking, ‘Wow! This is crazy to die like this.’  I really thought that I was about to die. I can try to hurry up and take the seatbelt off and jump out of the truck if I have enough time to. I was thinking this: when I felt myself going over I'm like, ‘I'm going to have to jump.’ I can't swim either. I started thinking that and then it stopped. And once it stopped, I just looked down and I saw the river. If this truck falls, I'm gonna have to jump out because, if not -- the Ohio River is 128 feet deep. Because if I don't, I'm gonna be at the bottom of the river because that truck was full!” Providentially, Thomas wasn’t injured in the astonishing accident. She didn’t hesitate to pray. THOMAS: “I was praying, I was crying, and I was trying to just stay calm and just hope and pray that they would be able to get me out -- because I didn't think they would be able to. If I start freaking out and screaming and moving around, the truck might fall into the river.” She confessed, “Sometimes you pray, and I’m guilty of this: I pray, and I don’t think God is listening. But He was that day!” God kept that semi-truck from falling into the water for 40 minutes until firefighters were able to use a crane to lift Louisville firefighter Bryce Carden down to reach her. Amazingly, he appeared at her window mid-air, latched to a harness, and hanging from the crane. He asked if he could pray with her – and the two proceeded to invoke the Lord. CARDEN: “She was just praying. She was praying a lot. And I prayed with her. ‘Thank God!’  That’s what she kept saying, ‘Thank God!’ And I told her, I said, ‘Just take a deep breath, and then here's what I need you to do’ -- because I needed her to assist and move in certain ways to be able to get the harness on right.” Though Sydney Thomas has no plans of traveling ever again on the Clark Memorial Bridge, she credited God for saving her. THOMAS: “God kept me here for a reason because I really shouldn't be here, but I am. So, I'm just, you know, giving Him all the honor because stuff like that don't happen every day.” Psalm 28:7 says, “The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise Him.” As for Branham, the driver who caused the accident, he was arrested in March and charged with four counts of wanton endangerment and one count of operating on a suspended license. The truck driver’s father, Marc Thomas, said that he too believes the Lord was watching over her. He said, “That [rescue] was nothing but God displaying Himself to me!” Check out the amazing video which we have linked in our transcript today at www.TheWorldview.com. The Islamic extremist group killed 11 Christians, kidnapped several others, and set houses on fire, reports International Christian Concern. A survivor said, “This horrific attack has left a trail of devastation and despair, with the loss of life and destruction of property reaching catastrophic proportions.” German church holds blasphemous Taylor Swift-themed service An historic German church in Heidelberg held a blasphemous Taylor Swift-themed worship service on Sunday, reports Christian Headlines. According to the news website Deutsche Welle, The Church of the Holy Spirit, a well-known church in Heidelberg that meets in a 600-year-old building, put on a service titled "Anti-Hero — Taylor Swift Church Service" in an effort to draw young people into the church. More than 1,200 were in attendance, most of them young women, for the service. Pastor Christof Ellsiepen said, "The Church of the Holy Spirit has always been a place of encounter and exchange. That's why a pop-music religious service fits so perfectly. With it, we are giving space to the questions and issues that occupy the younger generation." The Christian Post reports that the pastor also said that the service focused on the seemingly Christian themes in Swift’s music to address contested topics including women's rights, racism, and gender equality. However, Evangelical leaders have rightly expressed profound concern about Swift’s latest album, entitled The Tortured Poets Department, that mocks God and Christians alike. Sadly, Pastor Vincenzo Petracca was tone deaf, claiming "Theologically speaking, [Taylor Swift] points to the justness of God.” A pro-homosexual rainbow banner behind the church’s musicians stated that the church welcomes "all sizes, all [colors], all cultures, all sexes, all beliefs, all religions, all ages, all types, all people." Last time I checked, there were only two sexes. Indeed, in Mark 10:6, Jesus said, "From the beginning of creation, God made them male and female." Title IX rules threaten women’s safety and fairness The Biden administration would have Americans believe that feelings trump biological reality by prioritizing someone’s self-ascribed “gender identity” over their sex, explains Alliance Defending Freedom. But denying the truth that God made us male and female—different, yet equal—has harmful consequences. Adaleia is a 15-year-old athlete from West Virginia, and she knows this all too well. Because she was forced to compete against a male student who identifies as a female, she lost her spot to compete in a conference championship meet, reports Fox News. But that’s not all. She had to change in the girls’ locker room in the presence of the male athlete while she endured the vulgar, sexual harassment that the student directed toward her. Adaleia was made to suffer humiliation and indignity that no one should have to endure. But, according to the Biden administration’s recent attempt to rewrite Title IX, women and girls must surrender their rights to safety, privacy, and fairness in places of education. And faculty and students must embrace lies by treating children as the opposite sex—boys as girls, and girls as boys. Anti-Israel Duke protestors walk out of Seinfeld’s graduation speech Dozens of students walked out of Duke University’s commencement ceremony this past Sunday because of their objection to the guest speaker, comedian Jerry Seinfeld, a Jew who has been supportive of Israel, reports The Guardian. Figures in robes and caps, some waving Palestinian flags, filed out of crowds of graduates assembled on the grass in the North Carolina university’s football stadium. STUDENT PROTESTORS: (audio of booing Seinfeld) Others shouted “Jerry! Jerry!” as the actor received an honorary degree. STUDENTS: “Jerry! Jerry! Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!” To his credit, in his graduation speech, Seinfeld underscored the importance of having an ethical framework in which to live. SEINFELD:  “What I like is we're smart enough to invent AI, dumb enough to need it, and still so stupid we can't figure out if we did the right thing.” And he offered this analysis. SEINFELD: “We're embarrassed about things we should be proud of and proud of things we should be embarrassed about.” NFL player vs. President Biden And finally, Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker is facing the wrath of the National Football League. He recently delivered a commencement address at Benedictine College, a private Catholic school in Kansas.  He affirmed the vocation of his wife as homemaker and took issue with homosexuality, reports FaithWire.com. Plus, he challenged President Joe Biden, a self-professed Catholic, who supports abortion. BUTKER: “Our own nation is led by a man who publicly and proudly proclaims his Catholic faith, but, at the same time, is delusional enough to make the sign of the cross during a pro-abortion rally. He has been so vocal in his support for the murder of innocent babies that I'm sure, to many people, it appears that you can be both Catholic and pro-choice.” By contrast, Exodus 18:21 describes civil magistrates as “able men who fear God, men of truth.” In response, the official Twitter account of the city of Kansas City doxed his personal information, revealing the city where he lives, and now he’s facing a raging and seething mob of woke activists, reports the New York Post. Shockingly, 100,000 people have signed a petition calling for Butker to be fired. The petition declares,  “We call upon the Kansas City Chiefs management to dismiss Harrison Butker immediately for his inappropriate conduct.” Jonathan Beane of the NFL said, “Harrison Butker gave a speech in his personal capacity. The NFL is steadfast in our commitment to inclusion, which only makes our league stronger.” Christian talk show host Todd Starnes said, “The NFL has an interesting definition of the word ‘inclusive.’ Their definition does not include players who are pro-life, pro-family, or pro-Catholic. And, if the NFL is so inclusive, why aren’t there any female linebackers or quarterbacks in the league?” Close And that's The Worldview on this Friday, May 17th in the year of our Lord 2024. Subscribe by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. These attacks often come from communist regimes, drug cartels, and violent gangs. For example, Cuba passed a law last year, putting restrictions on religious expression that criticizes the government. Pastors who speak out for religious freedom in Nicaragua face arrest. And Christians in Mexico and Haiti are facing more oppression with the rise of the drug cartels as well as gang violence. British pro-lifers march against birthday abortions Yesterday, hundreds of pro-lifers rallied outside Parliament in London. Lawmakers are considering two pro-life amendments as well as two pro-abortion amendments. The latter two would allow abortion up to birth. Lynda Rose, head of Voice for Justice UK, said, “A nation that indiscriminately and without cause seeks to kill its unborn up to birth is destroying itself. … With our callous disregard of the right to life, the United Kingdom is rapidly becoming a kingdom of death. For the future wellbeing of all, these evil amendments must be defeated.” Pro-life protestors are imprisoned In the United States, judges are handing out prison sentences for pro-lifers targeted by the Biden administration.  On Tuesday, a federal judge sentenced Lauren Handy to nearly five years in prison for peacefully blocking access to an abortion mill. Yesterday, the judge sentenced Jonathan Darnel to nearly three years in prison for his participation. A total of five activists have faced trial for the 2020 blockade in Washington, D.C. The pro-lifers’ defendants are fighting back. Steve Crampton with the Thomas More Society said, “We eagerly look forward to appealing for [their] freedom, so that the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act can never again be weaponized by the Department of Justice against its ideological opponents.” Proverbs 17:15 says, “He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the just, both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD.” George teachers banned students from sharing Bible verses Public school teachers in Georgia banned students from sharing Bible verses. Two nine-year-old students were planning on sharing Easter eggs that contained the verses earlier this year. In response to the ban, the American Center for Law and Justice stepped in to defend the students. The Christian legal group reports they have now achieved victory for the students. They said, “The school has agreed to recognize our clients’ constitutional rights to distribute religious materials, such as Easter eggs, candy canes, and anything else – even Bible verses.” Trump and Biden to debate on Thursday, June 27th President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump are set to debate each other ahead of the presidential election this year. Both agreed to a debate invitation from CNN for Thursday, June 27. They also agreed to an invitation from ABC for September 10th. If Biden and Trump follow through on this debate in June, it will be the earliest debate between general election candidates on record. Inflation down slightly Inflation cooled down slightly last month. Consumer prices rose 0.3% percent from March to April, down from 0.4% the previous month. Year-over-year, inflation fell from 3.5% to 3.4% last month, the first decline this year. Danielle Hale, chief economist at Realtor.com, said, “The fight against inflation is not yet over, but the worsening trend observed in the first quarter of 2024 may have ended.” Drug overdose deaths dropped 3% Preliminary data suggests that drug overdose deaths in the U.S. fell for the first time in five years in 2023. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released the data yesterday.  Nearly 108,000 people died from drug overdoses last year. That’s down about 3,500 deaths from 2022.  The 3% drop follows a 30% increase in overdose deaths at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.  Massive solar flare And finally, the sun produced a massive solar flare on Tuesday.  It’s the largest flare in the current 11-year solar cycle and the largest since 2005. This follows a week of significant solar flare activity which made the northern lights visible to people further south than usual.  Such geomagnetic storms can even cause disruptions to power and communication systems on Earth. Thankfully, the latest flare emitted from a part of the sun facing away from our planet. However, the country’s government is considering a plan to revoke the tax exempt status of churches. Not surprisingly, churches provide many forms of social and spiritual support to their communities for free. Removing their tax-exempt status would result in fewer people receiving help. International Christian Concern is circulating a petition to keep the church in New Zealand tax free. Conflicts and natural disasters led to 76 million internally displaced people last year. Violence caused 90% of the displacements, and over half of them were in sub-Saharan Africa. The number of internally displaced people increased by 50% over the last five years. And, over the last 10 years, the number has roughly doubled.  Brazilian flooding kills 143 people Speaking of displacement, flooding in Brazil has triggered landslides and flash floods, displacing over half a million people and killing 143 people. Electricity has been cut off to more than 1.4 million Brazilians. The flooding came after torrential rains at the end of last month in the country’s southern state of Rio Grande do Sul. Churches across Brazil are providing shelter and care for those affected by the flooding. U.S.-based aid groups are also stepping in to help. On Sunday morning, May 12th, a DC-8 aircraft, funded by Samaritan’s Purse, departed the Greensboro Airlift Response Center in North Carolina bound for Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil in a second airlift transporting relief to the flood-ravaged region. The flight carried shelter tarp and other relief supplies. Also on board were relief staff deploying to the area. Onboard the May 11th Samaritan’s Purse flight were personal water filtration systems, hygiene kits, blankets, and solar lights. They also supplied ten community water filtration systems, each capable of supplying clean drinking water for up to 10,000 people per day. Franklin Graham, President of Samaritan’s Purse said, “Please continue praying for all those whose lives have been devastated by this flooding as even more heavy rains are on the way.” You can make an on-line donation through Samaritan’s Purse to help the people in flood-ravaged Brazil through a special link in our transcript today at www.TheWorldview.com. California school district agrees to pay FCA $6 million A California school district agreed to a nearly $6 million settlement with a Christian high school student group recently. A Fellowship of Christian Athletes student group had been operating at Pioneer High School in San Jose. The group required leaders to agree with its statement of faith which included saying that marriage is between one man and one woman. The high school stripped the FCA group of its official status.  Now, after years of litigation, Christian students are free to operate the group according to their beliefs.  Biden puts pro-abortion spin on Pregnant Workers Act Congress passed the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act back in 2022. Now, the Biden administration is trying to make the law pro-abortion. Last week, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission announced a new rule that would require employers to make accommodations for abortion. Multiple attorneys general from states across America are already challenging the rule. Louisiana’s Republican Attorney General Liz Murrill said, “This new action ... is another example of bureaucrats rewriting acts of Congress to their own liking, and it’s unconstitutional. We will continue to challenge this administration’s overreach and protect pregnant women.” Isaiah 59:6-7 says, “Their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands. Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood.” Trump is leading in five of six battleground states A new poll from The New York Times found that former President Donald Trump leading President Joe Biden in battleground states. Ahead of the presidential elections this year, Trump is leading in Pennsylvania, Arizona, Michigan, Georgia, and Nevada. Of six key states, Biden was only leading in Wisconsin. He won all six states in 2020. The poll found young, non-white voters were not satisfied with Biden. And Trump received record support of 20% of black voters. Target eager to promote sexual perversion AGAIN Target, once again, announced its plans to celebrate sexually perverted lifestyles during so-called “Pride Month” this year. The retail giant will included “pride” merchandise at stores. However, it will only be a handful of stores based on “historical sales performance.” And Target won’t be selling such apparel for children.  Target appears to be scaling back such merchandise after huge boycotts last year over the issue. Proverbs 16:18 says, “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. Better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.” You can sound off against Target for promoting sexual perversion by writing a letter to the CEO, Brian Cornell, Target, 1000 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, MN 55403. Pastor thanks God for sparing congregation in tornado And finally, a church in Pennsylvania is giving thanks to God after surviving a tornado during a worship service over the weekend. An F1 tornado struck the church building of Crossroads Ministries, tearing off the roof. Nearly 100 people were in the building, and no one was severely injured. Pastor Ken Barner  called it a miracle.  Listen. BARNER: “We had a tornado come and hit the wing of our church. The tornado came up the hill at about 6:14pm, and it took the roof off of that building, and it sent it into the woods. I just have to tell you: God was with us. The steeple got knocked out. Cars were damaged. Nobody was injured. “There's a few cuts and bruises and bumps, as you might imagine, but nobody had to be hospitalized, that we know of. We're just so thankful for that. And folks, I just want you to know that we're standing on the promises of God right now.” Close And that's The Worldview in 5 Minutes on this Wednesday, May 15th, in the year of our Lord 2024. Subscribe by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. Pakistani court annulled forced marriage of Christian girl to Muslim man Good news! A Pakistani court has annulled a forced marriage of a Christian girl who was abducted on her way home from school in 2019. Reeha Saleem was forced into a marriage by her Muslim abductor. U.K.’s growing Chinese Christian community The Chinese Christian community is the fastest-growing church in the United Kingdom, according to a report published by the Bible Society. The community has grown by 25,000, or 28%, over the last three years, largely driven by immigration from Hong Kong into the United Kingdom. The report stated that these believers have a much higher view of the Bible than other groups. Church of England’s plummeting attendance Church of England attendance has fallen to 654,000 as of last year. By these numbers, the Chinese church-attending population makes up a full 15% of the total attendees of the Church of England services.    Another survey found that people of color constitute 14% of the United Kingdom’s population, and yet they make up 25% of the practicing Christians there. In the words of Psalm 22:27, “All the ends of the world shall remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations shall worship before You.” Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. affirms abortion on demand Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., the independent candidate for President of the United States, affirmed his stand for abortion. He opposed the reversal of Roe v. Wade, and supported the federal legalization of abortion up to full term. He stated his position last Wednesday on the Sage Steele podcast. Steele asked Kennedy if he preferred leaving abortion “up to the states.” STEELE: “Keeping it as is, with Roe v. Wade having been overturned, and leaving it up to the states to determine if and when a woman can have an abortion?” KENNEDY: “No, I wouldn’t leave it to the states.” STEELE: “You wouldn’t? Right.” KENNEDY: “We should leave it to the woman. We shouldn’t have government involved.” STEELE: “Even if it’s full-term?” KENNEDY: “Even if it’s full-term.” STEELE: “I know there is no simple answer. As a Catholic, it would be okay to allow a woman to do that.” (inaudible) KENNEDY: “I don’t think it’s ever okay.” STEELE: “It would be allowed. It would be allowed.” KENNEDY: “I think we have to leave it to the woman, rather than the state.” Subsequently, Kennedy tweeted that he learned that “Sometimes, women abort healthy, viable late-term fetuses. These cases of purely ‘elective’ late-term abortion are very upsetting. Once the baby is viable outside the womb, it should have rights and it deserves society’s protection. … “I support the emerging consensus that abortion should be unrestricted up until a certain point. I believe that point should be when the baby is viable outside the womb. Therefore, I would allow appropriate restrictions on abortion in the final months of pregnancy.” In recent polls for the 2024 presidential election, Kennedy is holding anywhere from 8-11% of the vote.  America’s low-level commitment to unborn babies The American electorate’s commitment to the pro-life vote is still low. Only 10% of Americans call themselves pro-life AND would avoid voting for a pro-abortion candidate. On the other hand, there are 17% of Americans who call themselves pro-abortion AND would avoid voting for a pro-life candidate, according to a recent Gallup poll.    The 2023 poll found that 44% of Americans call themselves pro-life and 52% call themselves pro-abortion.  Higher educated people swing pro-abortion in a 66%-29% ratio, while those without a college education swing pro-life in a 54%-41% ratio. Young people, between the ages of 18 and 29, are more in favor of killing babies by a huge 64%-29% ratio. And women also skew pro-abortion in a 55%-41% ratio. Six states encourage gold and silver investments Six states have enacted sound money legislation for those who move their money into gold and silver. So far, Arkansas, Arizona, Utah, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Kentucky will not charge state income tax on gains realized in gold and silver investments. These states recognize sound money as a means of protecting savings from the ravages of inflation. States considering similar legislation in 2024 include Iowa, Georgia, Oklahoma, Missouri, West Virginia, and Kansas. Gold has increased in value by 30% in two years. By contrast, the official Consumer Price Index for inflation shows a 10% increase over the same two years.  10 states have legalized euthanasia Ten states have legalized physician-assisted suicide in this country thus far. And New York may be the eleventh. The state’s House and Senate versions of the bill have 84 sponsors collectively. Sadly, the legislation is reportedly gaining traction. Since 2002, nine nations in the world have legalized euthanasia, including Netherlands, Belgium, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. Those pleas have grown more urgent after the two leaders developed serious health problems while in prison, reports International Christian Concern. In November 2023, Communist authorities detained Pastor Zhou Songlin, Elder Ding Zhongfu, and 14 other members of the house church. Pastor Zhou and Elder Ding are the only church members who remain in prison.  Pastor Zhou is suffering from an unspecified “serious illness” that his doctors say cannot be properly treated while he is incarcerated. As a result, Ganquan is considered illegal and cannot purchase property. That’s why Pastor Zhou and Elder Ding used church funds to purchase two properties in their own names to secure property for worship and other church activities. Biden gets pushback over claim “We leave no one behind.” President Joe Biden faced a wave of pushback from GOP lawmakers in response to a post on the @POTUS X account that said, "On my watch, when we make promises, we keep them. All Joe Biden does is leave Americans behind," And Rep. Derrick Van Orden of Wisconsin tweeted, "This would be hilarious if it was not tragic. Biden has abandoned Americans around the world and wants you to forget about them. I never will. Remember in November." Stephanie Clifford took stand in Trump’s “hush money” trial Last Tuesday, Stormy Daniels, a disreputable actress whose real name is Stephanie Clifford,  took the stand in the so-called “hush money” trial of former President Donald Trump, reports The Epoch Times.  She claimed that she had a tryst with Trump in 2006 at which time he had been married to his third wife, Melania, since January 22, 2005. NBC News noted that Clifford, who was 27 at the time, boosted her credibility by describing the flooring of the hotel suite. Trump has categorically denied the encounter ever took place. Prosecutors say that President Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen, paid $130,000 to Clifford during the 2016 campaign in a bid to buy her silence about the alleged affair. At issue is the nature of the payments. They have argued that the payments should have been marked as campaign-related expenses since her silence helped assure his election. The former president has pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of falsifying business records in the case. He has argued that the trial is merely an attempt to keep him off the 2024 campaign trail. In Clifford’s testimony, she recalled that the former president told her in the hotel room that she “should go on his television show,” referring to the “Celebrity Apprentice” program that he hosted and starred in. She claimed she asked him. “What if I lose on the first episode?” She also made claims about visiting Trump to break the Seventh Commandment at his hotel in Lake Tahoe, California, during a golf tournament. Exodus 20:17 says, “You shall not commit adultery.” Top 10 most dangerous states While the violent crime rate in America fell for two years in a row after an increase in 2020, property crime – which covers infractions such as vehicle theft and burglary – appeared to increase in 2022 for the first time in two decades. The 16-year-old suspect, who was videotaped and photographed spray painting graffiti including the words “GAZA” and “Free Palestine,” got a buzz cut and wore a keffiyeh scarf on his head for court to hide his identity. He was arraigned on felony criminal mischief and misdemeanor graffiti charges. Not only was he identified defacing the World War 1 memorial dedicated to Manhattan’s 107th Infantry Regiment, but also a statue of Civil War Union General William Tecumseh Sherman as well. Police went to the boy’s home — and spent hours negotiating with his parents. The parents finally agreed to walk the teen the two blocks to the 121st Precinct station house, where he was arrested. On May 12th, 1792, William Carey, the Father of Modern Missions, published his highly influential book on the importance of evangelism. The title is anything but pithy.  Ready?  Carey’s book is entitled, An Enquiry into the Obligations of Christians, to use means for the Conversion of the Heathens in which the Religious State of the Different Nations of the World, the Success of Former Undertakings, and the practicability of Further Undertakings, are Considered.   Despite that long title, the passionate content of his book led to the founding of the English Baptist Missionary Society. A Baptist from 1783, Carey served for several years as a pastor in Moulton, Northamptonshire, where he also taught school and continued his trade as a shoemaker.  In 1789, he transferred to the Baptist church at Leicester.  Then, in 1793, Carey and John Thomas, a doctor, went to Calcutta, India. Carey became a lifelong missionary to India. In fact, he has been called the “father of Bengali prose” for his grammars, dictionaries, and translations. William Wilberforce, the English abolitionist, described the English Baptist Missionary Society as “one of the chief glories” of the British nation. In Romans 10:14, the Apostle Paul asked, “How, then, can they call on the One they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the One of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” Close And that's The Worldview on this Monday, May 13th in the year of our Lord 2024. Subscribe by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Muslims attacked praying Catholic students On Sunday, May 5th, two young women were slightly wounded when a mob of Muslims assaulted a group of 15 Catholic students who were praying at a rented house in Banten Province, on the Indonesian island of Java, reports Morning Star News. Enraged at the Catholic group praying in a home rather than in a church building, the local neighborhood head incited area Muslims to break up the meeting and injure the two female students in a suburb of Jakarta at about 7:30 p.m. Some of the assailants were reportedly armed with long machetes, sickles, knives, and blocks. One of the young women suffered a slight wound near her nose while another sustained a minor wound in the stomach, in spite of efforts by some local Muslims to protect them. The conflict began when the leader, identified as Diding, peeped into the house where the students were praying, and then intruded in, confronting the students for prayer, and ultimately dispersing them. Chicago Teachers Union demanding abortion coverage, gender-neutral bathrooms The Chicago Teachers Union is demanding $50 billion in its contract negotiations to pay for a 9% wage increase, abortions, illegal immigrant services and "gender-neutral bathrooms" for every school district, according to leaked documents, reports The Christian Post. Earlier this year, local news outlet WLS reported that Chicago teachers requested $2,000 for each of the 5,000 illegal immigrant students recently enrolled in the district, including more bilingual teachers and full tuition coverage for teachers to obtain a bilingual certificate. The list of demands also included a series of sexual perversion provisions, with the Chicago Teachers Union calling for every school in the district to have at least one "gender-neutral restroom" and annual homosexual/transgender training for educators. No wonder the number of homeschooled children continues to skyrocket. Student newspaper: "Hitler's got some good ideas." The student newspaper at McClatchy High School in Sacramento, California is facing a big time controversy. The Prospector student newspaper published an anonymous quote in the most recent edition praising Adolf Hitler.  A student said, “Hitler’s got some good ideas.” It was part of a story about “weird things” overheard in the school’s hallways, reports CBS News. The student staff later posted a statement saying the quote did not reflect their ideals or beliefs. But they were glad it sparked a conversation on how students choose their words. The principal fired off a message to families saying the newspaper’s actions were “deeply offensive.” And the newspaper’s faculty adviser has been placed on paid leave, which angered journalists across the state. Steve O’Donoghue, director of the California Scholastic Journalism Initiative, said, “They have the right to print it. They’re not advocating for it, they’re just quoting what a student said.” Christian talk show host Todd Starnes wrote, “It’s worth noting that a recent survey showed that 63 percent of Millennials and Generation Z did not know that 6 million Jews were killed in the Holocaust. That’s what happens when public schools whitewash history. The kids are ignorant of great atrocities in world history and the next thing you know – the McClatchy High School student newspaper is singing Hitler’s praises.” Ultra-processed food leads to weight gain, heart issues, & depression Research published in The British Medical Journal shows that eating a lot of ultra-processed foods such as sugary cereals, frozen meals, and sodas has been linked to poor mental health and a greater risk of dying from heart issues, reports The Telegraph. Ultra-processed foods are usually higher in fat, sugar and salt and contain chemicals, colorings, sweeteners and preservatives that extend shelf life. And thanks to Dr. Chris van Tulleken, author of the bestselling book Ultra-Processed People: The Science Behind Food That Isn’t Food, it’s a term now popping up everywhere. Dr. van Tulleken explains that ultra-processed foods are not only “high-fat, high-salt and high-sugar, but these ingredients have been combined into industrial products with exotic additives, which can’t really be described as food. They’re ultra-processed foods, a set of edible substances that are addictive for many and which are now linked to weight gain, early death and, yes – depression.” In 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, the Apostle Paul asked, “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, Who is in you, Whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.” Hero saves 11-month-old baby from blazing fire And finally, an Ohio man is being hailed a hero after risking his life to save an 11-month-old baby trapped inside a burning home, reports FaithWire.com. John Stickovich, age 62, was on his way to work at the time and jumped out of the car after he saw smoke billowing out from a house. STICKOVICH: “The mother was sitting on the tree lawn with her one baby.  I asked her if she was all right and she said, ‘My baby is still in the house.’” He told WJW-TV that he repeatedly went inside the house to try to find the baby in the haze of smoke and fire. Emergency workers were not yet on the scene, so he acted fast. He crawled through an open door into the kitchen and started searching for the child. At first, Stickovich couldn’t find the baby, so he went back outside to ask the mother for guidance. STICKOVICH: “Came back out, asked her where the baby way. She told me: ‘Next to the kitchen, by the baby gate.’” Then, he bravely entered the inferno once again. STICKOVICH: “It was getting so bad in there, I was getting ready to leave actually. And then the baby cried or made a sound. You know, I’m thinking to myself: ‘The baby is right here.” So, I just lurched forward and my arm went across his leg, I grabbed him by the leg, and we were both out.” Firefighters, who said the home was fully engulfed in the inferno by the time they arrived, are now dubbing Stickovich a hero and crediting him for saving the baby’s life. The man was simply grateful he was able to assist. STICKOVICH: “I feel wonderful that I could save the baby. That mother doesn’t have to mourn her baby. That baby gets to live today. I mean I would do it for anybody — it doesn’t matter. And I would hope that somebody would do it for me.” John 15:13 says, “Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” Or, in this case, for a complete stranger who happens to be 11 months old. Authorities charged Pastor Youssef Ourahmane with practicing “unauthorized worship.” A court upheld his conviction last Thursday. He is known for his work with several churches and Bible schools as well as the Evangelical Protestant Association of Algeria. He came to Christ out of Islam and has ministered for over three decades. Christianity has existed in the country for centuries where Protestants are the fastest-growing group. However, harassment against Christians is common in the North African country.  Open Doors ranks Algeria, Africa as the 15th most dangerous country worldwide in which to be a Christian. United Kingdom might require separate male and female toilets The United Kingdom is considering legislation that will require new buildings to have separate male and female toilets. The measure is aimed at stemming the tide of gender-neutral bathrooms. A government consultation has noted how women, the elderly, and people with disabilities have faced unfair disadvantages because of the gender-neutral toilets. Transgender groups are defending gender-neutral bathrooms. But Equalities Minister Kemi Badenoch said, “These regulations will guide organizations to design unisex and single-sex toilets, ending the rise of so-called gender-neutral mixed sex toilet spaces, which deny privacy and dignity to both men and women.” In Matthew 19:4, Jesus asked, “Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning made them male and female?” U.S. in top 8 most pro-abortion countries The Charlotte Lozier Institute released a report last week, comparing abortion laws in the U.S. with other countries. Despite the U.S. Supreme Court overturning the infamous pro-abortion ruling of Roe v. Wade in 2022, America is relatively permissive of abortion. The report noted, “Of 193 [United Nations] countries, the United States is one of eight countries that allows, at the federal level, abortion on demand without any gestational limits along with Australia, Canada, China, Guinea-Bissau, Mexico, South Korea, and Vietnam. … With no federal gestational limit on abortion and abortion on demand past 15 weeks in 29 states, U.S. abortion law is far more permissive than that of most countries in the world.” GOP Congressman objects to FBI’s “woke” agenda A Republican Congressman launched an inquiry into the diversity, equity, and inclusion practices of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio is the chair of the U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee. He sent a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray on Monday.  Jordan wrote, “The FBI's hyper-fixation on hitting Biden administration-imposed DEI initiatives, rather than qualifications that make the best federal law enforcement candidates and officers, has created a climate within the FBI that puts the American public and American civil liberties at risk.” M.I.T. wakes up from “wokeness” Speaking of the “woke” program of diversity, equity, and inclusion, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology has woken up from “the wokeness.” It will no longer require faculty hires to write diversity statements. The elite private university is the first to drop the requirement which has become common in higher education.  Sally Kornbluth, the president of MIT, said, “We can build an inclusive environment in many ways, but compelled statements impinge on freedom of expression, and they don’t work.” Majority of renters think buying a home would be difficult The Federal Reserve Bank of New York released a housing survey this week. The results found 75% of renters believe buying their own home would be somewhat or very difficult, up 8.5% from 2023. Currently, only 13.4% of renters see themselves owning a home. The median price for a single-family home is $388,700, down slightly from 2023. And the average monthly payment stands at $2,040. Tornadoes pummel America Tornadoes struck parts of Michigan on Tuesday, destroying homes and injuring several people. April to June is the peak of tornado season. CNN reports tornadoes have been reported every day since April 25. That’s 13 days in a row as of Tuesday. Over that timeframe, the National Weather Service reported 287 tornadoes. April saw 300 tornadoes, the second most on record. Psalm 135:7 says the Lord “causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the Earth; He makes lightning for the rain; He brings the wind out of His treasuries.” American Bible Society founding anniversary And finally, this week is the anniversary of the founding of the American Bible Society. American Protestants founded the group on May 11, 1816 in New York City. Its early leaders included prominent figures like Elias Boudinot -- a President of the Continental Congress, John Jay -- the first Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, and Francis Scott Key -- the author of the U.S. national anthem.  Since then, the American Bible Society has distributed hundreds of millions of Bibles in thousands of languages around the world. The commission makes recommendations to the U.S. State Department about which nations should be designated as Countries of Particular Concern. Such countries are considered the worst violators of religious freedom. The latest report recommends 17 countries for the designation, including China, India, Iran, North Korea, Russia, and Myanmar (formerly known as Burma). The Religious Freedom Commission lamented that the State Department has still not designated India as a Country of Particular Concern. Christians faced at least 687 incidents of violence last year in India.  Matthew 5:10 says, “Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven.” Thousands of Columbians march for life Over the weekend, thousands of people joined the 18th National March for Life across over 100 cities and towns in Colombia. In 2022, the Constitutional Court of the South American country ruled in favor of killing unborn babies up to 24 weeks of pregnancy. This follows a trend of South and Central American countries caving to international pressure by decriminalizing abortion. Jesús Magaña with United for Life attended the recent march. He said, “We are unwilling to remain silent and stand by in the face of the largest massacre in the country.” 15 GOP-led states oppose Biden’s sexually perverted agenda In the U.S., more and more states are opposing the Biden administration’s support for sexually perverted lifestyles.  New regulations from the Education Department protect students on the basis of their so-called gender identity and sexual orientation.  At least 15 Republican-led states challenged the regulations in court. And at least seven say they will not follow the new rules. Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders wrote in an executive order, “The Biden administration’s facially absurd redefinition of sex in Title IX turns back the clock on women’s opportunities, erodes student privacy, threatens women’s sports, and erases women.” Isaiah 5:20 says, “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness.” Southern Baptist membership dropped by 241,000 The Southern Baptist Convention released its Annual Church Profile this month.  Membership in the largest U.S. Protestant denomination fell by 241,000 people last year. Membership is now below 13 million for the first time since the 1970s. It’s also the 17th year of decline in a row. However, weekly service attendance increased to 4 million last year. And baptisms were up 26%. California witnessed a 248% increase in baptisms over the previous year. Boy Scouts changes name to “Scouting America” The Boy Scouts of America is changing its name for the first time since its founding in 1914.  The organization is rebranding to Scouting America after facing bankruptcy and abuse scandals.  The Boy Scouts allowed girls to join in 2019. This followed allowing homosexual youth and scout leaders. The organization has dropped to just over one million members, down from over two million in 2018. 2,000 anti-Israel college students arrested Police have arrested over 2,000 protesters in recent weeks at universities across America.  Demonstrators are supporting Palestinians and opposing Israel’s response to the October 7th attack by Hamas, the Muslim terrorist group. Protestors formed tent encampments at colleges and even took over parts of school buildings. One of the schools was Columbia University in New York City. Thirteen federal judges accused the school of becoming an incubator of bigotry, antisemitism, and violence. The conservative judges said they would not be hiring law school students from Columbia University.  Federal Reserve won’t cut interest rates The Federal Reserve decided against cutting interest rates last week. The central bank left its short-term borrowing rate at 5.25%-5.5% which is the same rate it has been since July 2023.  The Fed noted, “The Committee does not expect it will be appropriate to reduce the target range until it has gained greater confidence that inflation is moving sustainably toward 2 percent.” Boy survives getting sucked 25 feet into sky by tornado And finally, a Texas family is giving thanks for an absolute miracle. A tornado struck their home recently, reports KWTX-TV. Wes and Kasey Lambert, along with their daughter, Allie, and son, Lane, took cover in a closet. During the commotion, Lane got sucked up 25 feet in the air by the tornado.  KASEY: “I remember hearing glass break. And then I remember hearing bricks coming down, and they were coming down on top of us. At that point, the suction became so strong it sucked Lane from Wes’ arms.” The 7-year-old boy told the TV station what the tornado did to him. LANE: “It picked me up about 25 feet!" In God’s providence, the family found him on top of some insulation in another part of the house after the tornado passed. Lane suffered a dislocated shoulder and had severe injuries to his face and eyes which caused heavy bleeding. They believe a brick might have hit him during his airborne experience. While Wes and Kasey suffered other minor injuries and the house is considered a total loss, they are thankful to God to be alive. Pro-homosexual “mainline” Protestant denominations are dying Pro-homosexual religious denominations in the U.S. have lost membership. The United Methodists have dropped from 11 million to 5.4 million, with only 1.5 million attending in 2022.  The Presbyterian Church USA has dropped from 4.5 million to 1.1 million as of 2022.  And the Evangelical Lutheran Church has dropped from 5.6 million to 2.9 million, with only 500,000 attending weekly. In total, only 3 million remain attending these mainline denominations. That’s just 1% of the U.S. population, compared to 21% of Americans who claim to be Evangelical. As The Worldview reported on May 2nd, the United Methodist General Assembly struck down its longtime ban on homosexual clergy last week by a vote of 447 to 233. It also removed the ban on performing faux weddings for homosexual men and lesbian women living in unnatural relations with one another, by a vote of 479 to 203.
