In 1998 the band Embodyment released an album called Embrace the Eternal that expertly combined Death Metal and early Metalcore, and then they suddenly changed their entire sound seemingly overnight. This episode explores the history of this band and tries to uncover exactly what it was that brought on such a massive change for the band after only one album. This week on the podcast I am joined by childhood friend Buddy as we discuss our origins and continued appreciation for ReRoute to Remain by In Flames. I share a story about my dad warning me about the album cover sending me to hell and how Buddy god rid of all of his non Christian music only to turn back and re obtain this album first.Follow DFT’S DungeonPatreon: https://bit.ly/3UlV4puSubstack: https://dftdungeon.substack.comYoutube: https://bit.ly/3LmRqYmSpotify: https://spoti.fi/3RVbOCnLast.FM: https://bit.ly/3qKGVVmEmail: dftdungeon@gmail.comJoin the DFT Dungeon Discord Server!https://discord.gg/ADVqFYpT6qhttps://www.dftdungeon.com
Linkin Park's debut album changed everything for Nu Metal and Hard Rock in the early 2000's. By introducing harder elements in a more digestible and family friendly package, Linkin Park was able to establish a much larger install base of fans than their contemporaries at the time. In this video I share my memories of hearing Linkin Park for the first time, go over every song on Hybrid Theory, and discuss the impact that Linkin Park had on teenagers in the year 2000 and beyond.Follow DFT’S DungeonPatreon: https://bit.ly/3UlV4puSubstack: https://dftdungeon.substack.comFacebook: https://bit.ly/3qWDApMTwitter: https://bit.ly/3DDa50fInstagram: https://bit.ly/3UioAwoYoutube: https://bit.ly/3LmRqYmSpotify: https://spoti.fi/3RVbOCnLast.FM: https://bit.ly/3qKGVVmEmail: dftdungeon@gmail.comJoin the DFT Dungeon Discord Server!https://discord.gg/ADVqFYpT6qhttps://www.dftdungeon.com

A short update about the future of the podcast. (Dont worry it's not ending)
I decided to come back in the middle of a seasonal break to talk about the second part of Omni by Project 86. Lets see if it was worth the wait. The Crimson Corridor is a record that makes me ask myself uncomfortable questions about the meaning of existence and the nature of the universe we live in. It delves deep into topics that most people would like to avoid and yet I find myself constantly drawn to those questions due to the compelling way they are presented on this album. Join me for the last time this season as we deep dive into the existential horror that is The Crimson Corridor by Zao. Some albums teach us what it means to be cool and gives us something to emulate, but there are some albums that are content with just meeting us where we are at a certain time in our lives. Underoath's The Changing of Times embodies the feeling of being a teenager, that feeling of trying to move forward towards adulthood but being stuck in our past. Join me as I take a look back at the first time things were changing for Underoath.Follow DFT’S DungeonPatreon: https://bit.ly/3UlV4puSubstack: https://dftdungeon.substack.comShirts: https://dfts-dungeon.myshopify.com/Facebook: https://bit.ly/3qWDApMTwitter: https://bit.ly/3DDa50fInstagram: https://bit.ly/3UioAwoYoutube: https://bit.ly/3LmRqYmSpotify: https://spoti.fi/3RVbOCnLast.FM: https://bit.ly/3qKGVVmEmail: dftdungeon@gmail.comJoin the DFT Dungeon Discord Server!https://discord.gg/ADVqFYpT6qhttps://www.dftdungeon.com

The Mechanical Hand by Horse the Band is a misunderstood record. You might think it’s just a light hearted and fun record that evokes childhood nostalgia, and you’d be right, but there is so much under the surface of these familiar sounds that you may miss the first time you hear it. I did. However in this episode I attempt to explain the depth of this record through relating it to the same struggles I have faced in my own life. I hope you enjoy it.Follow DFT’S DungeonPatreon: https://bit.ly/3UlV4puSubstack: https://dftdungeon.substack.comShirts: https://dfts-dungeon.myshopify.com/Facebook: https://bit.ly/3qWDApMTwitter: https://bit.ly/3DDa50fInstagram: https://bit.ly/3UioAwoYoutube: https://bit.ly/3LmRqYmSpotify: https://spoti.fi/3RVbOCnLast.FM: https://bit.ly/3qKGVVmEmail: dftdungeon@gmail.comJoin the DFT Dungeon Discord Server!https://discord.gg/ADVqFYpT6qhttps://www.dftdungeon.com

This week’s episode is EPISODE 50!!!!!! I cant believe I’ve done 50 episodes already. I thought for this one it would be fun to dig into the wild and crazy ride that is Throwing a Wrench Into The American Music Machine by Training For Utopia, this time I didn’t take the ride alone and I called up my buddy Bryan Patton from the As the Story Grows podcast to give his thoughts and history with TFU and this bizarre and classic record.Follow DFT’S DungeonPatreon: https://bit.ly/3UlV4puShirts: https://dfts-dungeon.myshopify.com/Facebook: https://bit.ly/3qWDApMTwitter: https://bit.ly/3DDa50fInstagram: https://bit.ly/3UioAwoYoutube: https://bit.ly/3LmRqYmSpotify: https://spoti.fi/3RVbOCnLast.FM: https://bit.ly/3qKGVVmEmail: dftdungeon@gmail.comJoin the DFT Dungeon Discord Server!https://discord.gg/ADVqFYpT6qhttps://www.dftdungeon.com

This week I welcome Roach Koach host Matt Naas to the podcast as we dig into Circle of Dust’s 1994 album Brainchild, or where I come from 1992’s debut album Mindwarp by Brainchild. Matt and I talk about Industrial music in the early 90’s and how Matt feels Brainchild stacks up to hits contemporaries at the time. I bring up how early childhood church going influenced my obsession with “scary” extreme Christian music.Follow DFT’S DungeonPatreon: https://bit.ly/3UlV4puFacebook: https://bit.ly/3qWDApMTwitter: https://bit.ly/3DDa50fInstagram: https://bit.ly/3UioAwoYoutube: https://bit.ly/3LmRqYmSpotify: https://spoti.fi/3RVbOCnLast.FM: https://bit.ly/3qKGVVmEmail: dftdungeon@gmail.comJoin the DFT Dungeon Discord Server!https://discord.gg/ADVqFYpT6qhttps://www.dftdungeon.com

This week on the podcast I decided to talk about the ultimate time capsule and that is my band End of Destiny’s 2006 album The Thoughtless Existence. An often overlooked record, but a record that I put so much of myself into at the time that its hard not to reflect on everything that happened during its writing and recording and what it meant to me all those years ago. This week on the podcast I’m digging into a record that I can admit is not objectively a great record, but give me the next 38 minutes to try and convince you why it was a super important record for me. I talk about discovering Mortification in highschool and how I didn’t love them at first but over time came to appreciate Steve Rowe’s dedication to his artistic convictions. In this first episode of Season 3 of the podcast, I talk about a record that has always been a go to for me when going through a tough time. I talk about two tough times in my life where this record was essential listening. I talk about how reviews for this album were off base when it came out, and I talk about Trenches’ performance at Post Festival 2023.
