For our fifth episode we're joined by Max to talk about non-binary identities. Drawing from our own lived experiences and from those around us we talk about what being non-binary means to us and how our lives intersect with a world which is socially constructed into a binary. Unfortunately, due to my (Jamie) technical incompetence, the first minute or so of the recording has been permanently vanquished from our mortal coil. Luckily for you this means not having to listen to me reading up from something I wrote one minute before the show started. The first question we talk about is ,,what does non-binary even mean?'' This episode was recorded and archived as a podcast from our live show on the sixteenth of August, 2022 on Radio Worm. See the schedule and listen to the live recordings via https://worm.org
Toxic Masculinity is the contemporary term which has been used to describe a set of traits and behaviours associated with masculinity that are damaging to the person exhibiting the behaviour and those around them. In feminist analyses, toxic masculinity is often discussed as a manifestation of patriarchy in the way that masculine people interact with each other and the world around them. Deconstructing toxically masculine behaviour would therefore be a necessary part of dismantling patriarchal structures. In this episode, we're joined by Floris to deconstruct and understand our experiences with toxic masculinity, and learn how we can address issues surrounding it. This episode was recorded and archived as a podcast from our live show on the twenty-second of July, 2022 on Radio Worm. See the schedule and listen to the live recordings via https://worm.org
For our third episode we're joined by Alexandra to talk about how gender shapes neurodiverse experiences.  This episode was recorded and archived as a podcast from our live show on the eighth of July, 2022 on Radio Worm. See the schedule and listen to the live recordings via https://worm.org
For our second episode we're joined by my dear friend Sonia to talk about perceptions of gender. ,,To destroy ‘woman,’ does not mean that we aim, short of physical destruction, to destroy lesbianism simultaneously with the categories of sex, because lesbianism provides for the moment the only social form in which we can live freely. Lesbian is the only concept I know of which is beyond the categories of sex, because the designated subject  is not a woman, either economically, or politically, or ideologically. For what makes a woman is a specific social relation to a man, a relation that we have previously called servitude 16 , a relation which implies personal and physical obligation as well as economic obligation. A relation which lesbians escape by refusing to become or to stay heterosexual. [...] This can be accomplished only by the destruction of heterosexuality as a social system which is based on the oppression of women by men and which produces the doctrine of the difference between the sexes to justify this oppression.’’ - Monique Wittig in One is not Born a Woman, 1981 The straight mind and other essays - Monique Wittig This episode was recorded and archived as a podcast from our live show on the twenty-second of June, 2022 on Radio Worm. See the schedule and listen to the live recordings via https://worm.org
