Are you contributing to your own burnout? Okay, this might be an uncomfortable question. Property management is demanding. Residents interrupt you. Your team needs you. Vendors need answers. Reports are due. And somehow that “quick question” turns into 45 minutes you definitely did not have. Sometimes our circumstances really do suck. But what happens when the circumstances aren't the only thing exhausting us? In this episode of Addicted to Busy, we're looking at some of the ways we unknowingly contributed to our own burnout—from automatically saying yes to everything, to procrastinating on uncomfortable tasks, skipping breaks, scrolling before bed, and tying self-worth a little too closely to how much we accomplish. This isn't an episode about blaming yourself for being burned out. It's about getting curious about the pieces you can control. What’s inside this episode... - Why saying yes too quickly can quietly overload your schedule - The boundaries you may need to set with yourself - Why procrastination might have more to do with overwhelm than laziness - How I use time-blocking when my brain would rather avoid a task - Why your nighttime scrolling might be keeping your brain at work - The danger of tying your self-worth to your productivity - Why temporarily working long hours is very different from chronically overworking Because sometimes burnout requires a change in our circumstances. And sometimes it starts with noticing the little ways we're making an already difficult job even harder on ourselves. So here's the question I want you to sit with: Am I contributing to my own burnout? And if the answer is yes, what’s one small habit you could start shifting this week? After more than six months away from the mic, I’m finally back—and if you work in property management, you probably already know why. I got busy. In this episode, I’m sharing a real-life check-in on the past year: taking over a larger property, changing companies, stepping into a new role, traveling for speaking engagements, and navigating the constant juggling act that comes with this industry. After a recent presentation, someone asked me a question that stuck with me: “How do you do it all?” I don’t. Sometimes the podcast gets put on hold so I can take a dance class. Sometimes career opportunities mean sacrificing parts of my social life. And lately, I’ve been choosing to invest more time in my own well-being rather than constantly pushing for the next professional milestone. In this episode, I talk about: The tradeoffs behind “doing it all” How busy seasons force us to choose what matters Why perfection isn’t the goal The small habits that helped me stay grounded during a demanding year If you’ve ever felt stretched thin trying to balance work, life, and everything in between—this one’s for you. Because the goal isn’t doing everything. It’s choosing what matters most.
Why Your ‘Why’ Matters in Property Management
Property management is not for the faint of heart. It’s demanding, chaotic, and often thankless. Between handling resident complaints, meeting ownership expectations, and keeping your team (and yourself) afloat, it’s easy to wonder… why am I even doing this?
In this episode, I’m diving into why having a clear purpose—your why—is essential for staying motivated and avoiding burnout in this industry. We’ll talk about:
✅ How your work shapes the lives (and memories) of the people you serve✅ The impact property managers have on communities—far beyond rent payments and maintenance requests✅ How to identify your personal why (and why it’s okay if it changes over time)✅ The difference between a strong, purpose-driven why and a shallow, burnout-fueling why✅ Why defining your why now makes it easier to push through on the hardest days
If you’ve ever felt like quitting—or just need a reminder that your work does matter—this episode is for you.

If you’re watching the video version of this, you can probably tell—I’m in the thick of it. No makeup, no polished setup, just me showing up as is because sometimes, work-life balance doesn’t look pretty.
A few weeks ago, I took on a new property, and while I knew it would be a challenge, I can feel the burnout creeping in. I’m being pulled in every direction—by residents, my team, and my own high standards. And while I love a good challenge, I also know how easy it is to fall back into old patterns when stress takes over.
So in this episode, I’m sharing:✅ The small but powerful habits I’m using to stay grounded✅ How to create non-negotiables that actually stick (without burning yourself out even more)✅ Why self-care doesn’t have to be expensive or time-consuming✅ The mindset shifts that helped me recover from past burnout—and why I’m doing things differently this time
If you’re feeling stretched thin, overwhelmed, or just want to be proactive about avoiding burnout, this one’s for you. And if you’re currently in a good place? Now’s the time to build the habits that will keep you steady before life inevitably gets chaotic again.

Ever feel like you have to finish everything at work before you can finally take care of yourself? Yeah… same. But here’s the thing—that approach never works because the to-do list? It never actually ends.
In this episode, recorded fresh off a conference presentation (yes, with airport noise in the background!), I’m breaking down four key shifts that can help you reclaim your time, energy, and sanity:
How to stop multitasking (because it’s secretly making everything harder)
The power of setting boundaries—with yourself and others
Why prioritizing your health actually makes you better at your job
How all of this creates space for the hobbies and goals you’ve put on the back burner
I also dive into why your brain resists new habits (even when they’re good for you), why long-distance running taught me more about property management than I ever expected, and why you don’t need to run a marathon to reset your work-life balance. (But if that’s your thing, go for it.)
