Burnout is an all-too-common experience; it gets to the best of us. What causes burnout, how do you recover from it, and how can you support someone experiencing it? Megan from Limitless is back with us to get into the ins and outs of burnout!
Mental wellness, triggers and trauma, boundaries: What do they mean, and how can you care for the mental wellbeing of your community? Megan from Limitless joins us to share about her own personal encounters with mental health.
Grace, Justin, and Hansel talk about Goodbye Circles. Inspired by an international institute that specialises in restorative practice, Lutheran Community Care Services started Goodbye Circles for individuals who choose to leave the organisation.
Grace, Shaily and Justin are back to discuss how organisations and individuals can work together to shape a meaningful exit experience for all involved.
What do you do when someone quits? A good exit experience can make the difference between a resentful ex-member or a strong advocate. Yet, exits are often overlooked. Hear from two community leaders on the importance of exit experiences.
Are elections a good way to choose a leader in a ground up community group? How do you create the conditions for a leader to surface? For the final instalment to our conversation on leadership succession - Grace gets the download from Yi Qi (former chairperson and current advisor) and Jeremy (present chairperson) of Volunteer Guitar Connection on how they’ve been able to develop a pipeline of leaders to keep their organisation growing.
Continuing the conversation from the previous episode, Grace, Shaily, and Tim answer even tougher questions - How do you choose a leader? When should you start planning? What are the four character traits to look out for when assessing leadership potential?
Organisations as big as Apple and Microsoft have faced challenges in leadership succession. Small non-profits are no different and may even face greater difficulties. Tim (CEO, Caregivers Alliance) and Shaily talk about leadership succession planning in this week’s episode!
How do you make that important first impression to a new joiner as exciting as possible, while being authentic at the same time? To round up our onboarding conversation, Grace and Sparsh Deep Singh (Co-Chair of BHP Singapore Community) unpack what happens when staff join a corporate volunteer group within BHP, a world-leading resources company.
Chemistry catch ups, virtual water coolers, and “green shirts”! Grace, Shaily, and Li Woon chat about practical ways to create an inclusive onboarding experience that builds quick rapport, increases engagement and reduces early attrition.
What would you do to avoid awkward first meetings and introductions? Engaging newcomers successfully can give them a good impression of your community and encourage them to participate regularly. In this episode, Grace chats with Shaily (ex-Chief HR @ PWC and Deloitte) and Li Woon (Founder, Volunteer Switchboard) about making the most out of the onboarding experience for newcomers.
