This episode is all about the Performers Edge and I am so happy that Cailin Howarth could join me on this episode to share her expertise as a Performance Coach. Cailin Howarth is a professional classical singer and performance psychology coach, based in Melbourne. She completed a Bachelor of Music at The Conservatorium of Music at The University of Melbourne in 2011 and has subsequently performed professionally across Australia and Europe with groups including The London Philharmonic Orchestra Chorus and Victorian Opera and The Australian Chamber Choir. Early on in her career, Cailin recognised that performers and musicians experienced acute and specific psychological pressures that don't exist in other industries. Cailin saw the need for practitioners who understood those pressures, so she returned to study postgraduate psychology in order to support performing artists through the provision of performance psychology services. Cailin now shares her time between performing professionally and providing peak performance and mental skills training to creative and performers. My friend Michael Hughes joins me for a chat to share his Performing Arts Journey along with many tips and great advice for all young performers out there! He has an incredible story to share, just take a little read of his career to give you a taste of our episode.   Michael grew up training in all genres of dance and performing arts on the Gold Coast and Brisbane before travelling overseas to study further at places such as Broadway Dance Centre USA, Pineapple Dance Studio’s and Studios 68 UK and En Dance Studio Shibuya, JAPAN. Performing professionally in - ‘Burn the Floor UNTAPPED’, Princess Cruise Lines,Norwegian Cruise Lines, David Atkins Enterprises and musicals ‘Boy from Oz’ and ‘AllShook Up.’ In 2016, Michael completed the ‘Dream Dance Company’ Show Business course under the direction of Marko Panzic, where he was trained by the international likes of Danielle Polanco, Candace Brown, Gerran Reese. Some of Michael’s commercial credits include performances at the NRL Grand Final, 6th AACTA awards, American NFL Grand Final, Taylor Swifts Red Tour Opening Act and Big Brother Launch Night. He has performed alongside artists such as Marcia Hines, Jessica Mauboy, Tim Campbell, Prinnie Stevens, Nathaniel Willemse, Sneaky Sound System and Ministry of Sounds ‘Vandalism’ just to name a few. In 2017, Michael completed a highly successful season with Opera Australia performing in Carmen (Handa on Sydney Harbour) choreographed by the amazing Kelley Abbey and directed by Andy Morton. 2018, Michael worked as art of the professional team of the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games Opening and Closing Ceremonies performing alongside Ricki Lee, Delta Goodrem, Anthony Callea, Guy Sebastian and Samantha Jade. Michael has also performed in‘ Viva Tropicana Spectaular’ as Male Swing/ Dancer for Aerial Angels Productions in a resident show in HONG KONG and was also apart of the cast for a brand new show ‘Colour Emotion’ for Tap for All in SYDNEY in October 2018. 2019 has seen Michael join the cast of ‘Diamonds After Dark’ as Featured Male Dancer for Mission Entertainment Co. providing shows throughout QLD and NSW. CurrentlyMichael has just wrapped filming on set for the new Elvis Movie for Warner Bros. productions – followed by a highly successful season of La Traviata Opera Australia choreographed by Shannon Burns. 2021 saw Michael perform with the Brisbane’s Finesse Burlesque Cast at the Star Gold Coast and Hit me Britney One More Time Show in Brisbane. 2022 Michael selected to be a part of Grayboy Entertainment’s new show creation ‘Musicology’ choreographed by William Forsythe. Other credits include performances for Yvette Lee/ Troy Phillips at the 62nd Annual Logies Awards, multiple corporate and commercial performances and choreographing for Melbourne Cup Fashion Events and Awards Functions. Laetitia Andrac from Essential Shift joins me for a chat and discusses the essential tools needed when taking a shift along your path. Laetitia is a holistic business coach and a ‘soul+biz doula’. Peter joins me for a chat and shares his story on how his career took off from only 10 years old. Kat and I go way back, and reconnecting again was an absolute joy as she opens up about her life as an artist and the things she has been a part of. Yure Covich joins me for a chat and shares his story behind his business "75 Percent Old School" and how fulfilling it has been creating that community for actors over the years. Yure and I used to teach at the same school and his energy was always fun and inviting to all. Sharing his journey from graduating through NIDA and his journey through the industry not only as an actor but a director too, was really inspiring to hear.  Yure has appeared in movies such as RED DOG and has also taken part in plays for SYDNEY THEATRE COMPANY. His CV is full of many TV series such as HOME AND AWAY and working with other incredible actors including Melissa McCarthy and many more. Nathan shares his journey as a performing artist and everything that has led him to where he is today. Jesse shares his story as a performing artist touring the world and creating is One Man Show. Jesse was down to the final rounds of “Ain’t Too Proud -The Life and Times of the Temptations” on Broadway in New York City at the top of the pandemic, and when everything in the industry came to a dramatic halt, Jesse is grateful that he has been able to still perform his show and continue to deliver great entertainment.
