This will save you a lot of energy One of the biggest energy leaks in recovery is trying to explain yourself. Someone asks how you are… and you feel pressure to justify everything.Your symptoms, your limits, why you can’t do what you used to do.And you leave the conversation feeling drained. In our today's podcast episode, I share a simple way to respond that protects your energy, keeps the conversation moving, and stops you going into the “over-explaining spiral.”It’s calm, practical, and especially helpful if you’ve been seeing more people lately.   Here are 4 ways we can help. 1. The energy trap that keeps people stuck One of the biggest reasons people stay stuck in M.E/CFS recovery is misunderstanding energy. What feels like energy is often adrenaline and that’s what keeps the push-crash cycle going. In this week’s podcast, I explain the difference between adrenaline and real energy, and why learning to spot it can change your recovery. If you’ve ever thought, “I felt better… so why did I crash?” this will help.   Here are 4 ways we can help. 1. From Bedbound to Living Again: Mitch’s M.E/CFS Recovery Story A few years ago, Mitch was a fit, active teenager.  Then his body started shutting down.  Within weeks, he went from riding his bike to school… to ending up in hospital, terrified, wondering if he was dying.  At his worst, making his bed felt like a massive achievement. The couch became his whole world.Noise, light, conversations - everything was too much.  In this week’s podcast, Mitch shares his full story - honestly, calmly, and without sugar-coating it.  Not just what it was like to be that unwell but what actually helped him move forward, step by step, until he got his life back.  Today, Mitch is:running againworking long shiftstravellingliving fully  This episode isn’t about a miracle fix. It’s about fear, patience, timing, and learning how to move toward health instead of fighting symptoms.  If you’re struggling right now, I think you’ll feel very seen by this conversation.   Here are 4 ways we can help. 1. The recovery trap that keeps people stuck with M.E/CFS One of the most frustrating parts of M.E./CFS recovery is doing all the right things…and still feeling like nothing is moving.  You’re trying. You’re careful. You’re doing your best.  And yet, progress feels stuck. In this week’s podcast, I talk about something I see all the time — what I call the recovery trap. It’s not laziness. It’s not lack of willpower. And it’s definitely not because you’re broken. It’s a very common pattern that quietly keeps people stuck often without them realising it.  In the episode, I walk through:why acceptance isn’t giving upwhy chasing your old life can slow recoveryand how doing the right things at the wrong time can keep the body in survival mode If you’ve been plateaued, pushing and crashing, or feeling confused about what to do next… this will likely resonate.   Here are 4 ways we can help. 1. What real M.E/CFS progress actually looks like Before joining CFS Health, Raff was spending around 22 hours a day resting. Getting dressed. Eating meals. Holding her head up. All of it took everything she had. She lived with constant dizziness, tinnitus, light and noise sensitivity, and severe brain fog. Even a one-minute walk could wipe her out for days.  Like so many people with M.E/CFS, she was doing everything carefully but still not getting better.  Today, things look very different. Raff is now: • Working again • Cycling and hiking • Skiing with friends • Slowly building a full, meaningful life — safely and consistently  She’s still on her recovery journey. But the progress she’s made is extraordinary.  This isn’t a miracle story.  It’s a realistic, honest example of what progress can look like when you stop the push-crash cycle and follow the right process.  If you’re feeling stuck, scared to do more, or worried that progress just isn’t happening for you — I really think this conversation will help     Here are 4 ways we can help. 1.
