When you read the Word of God, you find that prophets are always rejected by the people. Even the religious leaders of Israel did not want to tolerate the prophets of the Lord. Why is that? Because humanity has that sinful nature, and that sinful nature speaks to our flesh and it emphasizes our will, and it rejects the will of God, we need to change if we are going to find peace and joy and contentment, if we are going to find a life that has meaning and significance, a life that has an eternal aspect to it. We need to experience redemption. We need to be born again, and we need to agree with God. God is going to reveal, through Amos, three visions, and each of these visions relate to destruction. Water is an important concept in the scriptures. Frequently, water symbolizes life, but when we speak not simply of water, but rather rain, it symbolizes blessing. And when God withholds the rain. The God of Israel is not a respecter of persons. What does that mean? It means that God has no favorites. When we speak about Israel being the chosen people, it is incorrect to think chosen means the favored people. What it means is that God has uniquely created Israel, and has chosen Israel in order to serve Him, to be the vessel which God will bring blessing into this world, potentially for every nation and every person that is God's desire, God has a plan to bring that about. Do you have spiritual discernment? There is a concept in Judaism called shalom, by it, which means peace of the house, and that is a very important blessing for every family, that there be peace.
