Today was, in all honesty, one of the greatest mornings we've had on the show in months...because after months of battling bacterial meningitis among other issues...our dear friend George Kieffer walked into the offices of the Curacao Sea Aquarium and the Dolphin Academy for the first time in months...and he sat down to talk with Johnny...and it was fucking amazing.
Our friend Josh Blue is one of our favorite people, and one of the funniest people we know. And whenever he stops by the studio when he's in KC, we know it's gonna be hilarious...but as we've known each other for so long, what would normally be an "interview", just turns into hanging out with our friend...and that's what today was.Just an amazing hang with our bud...who also just happens to be a comedian who was  playing four sold out shows at The Improv!
We first met comedian Carlos Mencia right as his career was set to take off...then we watched as he landed his own Comedy Central show, starred in his own award winning comedy specials, and appeared in movies like "The Heartbreak Kid"!!And when he rolled into KC to perform 3 nights at The Comedy Club of Kansas City, we knew it was time to catch up!!And we quickly found that he's still primed and ready to offend everyone who needs offending!!
We're just a few days away from the big game, which means it's time for another CHIEFS SUPER BOWL SONG!!! Thankfully we have the one man sound bite, Travis Kelce (and Brittany Mahomes) to take it all over the top!! GO CHIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEFS!!!
From 11/04/2010:Comedy legend Gallagher changed the way people watch comedy...that's a fact. It's also a fact that, as he got older, he became a contentious, cranky old man who rubbed pretty much everyone the wrong way. But, in this conversation from 2010...he was cranky...he he hadn't quite gone 'round the bend yet...but you could see he was well on his way.
Over his time as a Secret Service Agent, Clint Hill worked with presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon and Ford...as well as being assigned to First Lady Jackie Kennedy after JFK's assassination....an event of which Mr. Hill will forever be a part of as the first agent to jump onto the back of the presidential limo when the first shot rang out. In this in-studio interview from Aril 11, 2012, we were fortunate enough to hear the first hand re-telling of that fatal day and much more from a man who was witness to it all...a true hero, Clint Hill...it was a amazing conversation to be part of.
Most of you know that our gal Nycki just had major neck surgery...and we know you all have been concerned about  how she's doin'...so now that she's home from the hospital and resting up, we decided to give her a call...and we had to make sure it wasn't when she was all pilled up!!And one thing we learned? Bein' on the mend from a major surgery, medicated and resting has NOT dulled that little ball of hate one f**kin' bit!!!
Actor/Comedian Craig Robinson just might be the busiest man in Hollywood right now. He has a new series on the Peacock Network. “Killing It”…you can hear him in the new animated film, “The Bad Guys”, commercials for everything from Gain detergent to Pizza Hut…AND he’s out on the road doing stand-up!! But even with all of that stuff going on in his world, it’s great that he still makes the time to stop by the studio and spend the morning hanging out with us on the Morning Show…and it’s ALWAYS a good time!!
For 6 seasons, comedian/impressionist Jay Pharoah turned in some of the most amazing impersonations in the shows history…from Eddie Murphy, Will Smith, Kevin Hart, Dave Chappelle, Jay Z, Jamie Foxx and Tracy Morgan to then President Barack Obama! He left the show in 2016, starring in the Showtime series, “White Famous.” And now he’s out on tour, rolling into the Improv this weekend…and he stopped by the studio, along with a dizzying amount of celebrity impersonations, to hang out for an amazing interview!
Another one from the vaults!Any time comedian/podcaster Dan Cummins stops by the studio is a good day. Not only because he’s a brilliant comedian…not just because he’s host of one of the most popular podcasts with “Timesuck”…but mainly because his kind of weird meshes quite well with our kind of weird…and that means a whole goddamn morning FULL of weird!! And in this interview from October of ’21, we went on a wild ride though a myriad of subjects!Buckle up and let’s go!!!
We’ve known vocalist John Corabi for a long time, having first heard him while frontman for the band The Scream…and thru his tenure replacing Vince Neil in Motley Crue, his bands Union and The Dead Dasies, and his work as guitarist in Ratt, Brides of Destruction and more…and FINALLY he has told his story, from his roots in Philly to his rise to stardom and every wild story in between, in his new book “Horseshoes and Hand Grenades”We caught up with our old friend today to talk all about it!And you can pick up his amazing book here:https://www.johncorabi.com/
While he started his career as a drummer in the 1970s, Andrew Dice Clay shifted gears in ’78 and launched a career in stand-up comedy. He moved from Brooklyn to Hollywood and crafted an act that, by the late 80s, had made him the biggest name in comedy…becoming the FIRST comedian to sell out Madison Square Garden two consecutive nights!! His non-PC act raised eyebrows and courted controversy, but he always stuck to his guns…and launched an acting career that saw him starring on his own Showtime series, and winning rave reviews for his dramatic work in the 2018 movie “A Star Is Born”.And now he’s rolling into KC to perform three nights at the Comedy Club of KC, so we got him on the phone to catch up with this comedy legend!!
When we meet a comedian in person for the first time, it can go one of two ways...it can go badly...or it can turn into something truly spectacular!!Such was the case when we met "The Machine", comedian Bert Kreischer!!In this, his first appearance on the morning show in June of 2017, what started as your usual in-studio visit from a comedian, became an epic, and in Bert's case, increasingly hammered, morning that  was truly legendary!!
Halestorm lead vocalist Lzzy Hale is a true force to be reckoned with . Not only does she possess one of the most powerful voices in Rock & Roll, but through her social media presence, she has managed to connect with her fans unlike any other artist in rock...always speaking her truth, and being open and honest about everything from her mental health to her sexuality. We spoke to her on the day the band kicked off their "Back From the Dead" tour, and as always, she was nothing short of amazing!
