Death is the one enemy every person will face. It does not care who you are, what you believe, or how you live — it comes for everyone. Every funeral, every hospital room, every tear at a graveside reminds us that something is wrong with our world. But Easter is the announcement that death does not win. Jesus did not just come to teach us how to live — He came to confront death, defeat death, and offer life to all who believe in Him. This Easter, we invite you to join us as we discover the hope of the resurrection and the life-changing truth that because Jesus lives, death is not the end of our story.

People who respond to God's salvation by confessing Jesus as Lord are transformed by God's grace into a new person. Our personal salvation should empower us to have relationship with others. We see that the primary fruit of a believers faith is how they relate to others, and how they integrate into the gathering of God's people. The church is the means by which God is restoring His purposes for human life which were lost due to the fall. Christian community displays God's transforming power and love to the world through the love, acceptance and shared life of His people.

When the Holy Spirit was poured out on the early church, something new began. God’s Spirit was no longer given to just a few leaders, but to all believers. Because of this, the church became a prophetic people where they could hear God’s voice and speak His encouragement into the lives of others. In our message today, we are going to look at what it truly means to be a prophetic church and how we can embrace all that God has given in order to build each other up and reach people far from God.

What does Communion really mean, and why did Jesus institute it? In Luke 22, during the Passover meal with His disciples, Jesus revealed that the ancient story of Israel’s deliverance was ultimately pointing to Him. Through the bread and the cup, He showed that His body would be given and His blood shed for our redemption. In this message we explore how Communion reinterprets Passover, reveals our redemption, reminds us of our Savior, and continues to shape the life of the church today.

As believers in Christ, our salvation has implications. Being Christian means we are born again and have become children of God. In this, we recognize the love God has lavished on us and are filled with hope and confidence of what is to come. That one day we will be raised to life and transformed to his likeness seeing Jesus face to face. Living with the hope of this day transforms how we live now. As we follow Christ, may we look to Him and become more like Him.

Worship is one of the most central practices of the Christian faith, yet it is often misunderstood or reduced to a moment, place, or a style of music. In this message, we turn to Jesus’ conversation with the Samaritan woman in John 4, where He redefines what true worship really is. Rather than focusing on geography, tradition, or performance, Jesus reveals that worship flows from knowing who God is, responding to what He has done, and allowing that response to shape how we live. Our teaching today invites us to see worship not as something we simply do on occasion, but as a way of life formed by truth, gratitude, and obedience before God.

Water baptism has been practiced by followers of Jesus from the very beginning, yet it remains one of the most misunderstood steps of faith in the church today. In this message, we take a clear and biblical look at what water baptism is, where it came from, how it took shape in the New Testament, and why it still matters for us today. Rather than approaching baptism as a tradition, a ritual, or a religious requirement, we will see it as a meaningful response to the gospel—an act of obedience that publicly identifies us with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This teaching is meant to bring clarity, remove confusion, and invite every believer to take their next faithful step in following Jesus.

Our world defines greatness by visibility, influence, and being served—but Jesus turns that definition upside down. In the Kingdom of God, greatness is not about climbing higher; it’s about kneeling lower. Following Jesus does not lead us into a life of self-promotion or comfort, but into a way of living that is marked by humility, sacrifice, and service. Serving others is not an optional expression of faith—it is the very path Jesus walked and the practice He called His disciples to follow. Today, we will see that true greatness is found not in how many serve us, but in how willingly we serve others.

Prayer is one of the most familiar practices of the Christian faith, yet many believers struggle to understand how it is meant to shape their daily lives. Rather than offering a set of words to memorize or a method to master, Jesus invites His followers into a way of praying that aligns our heart with God’s purposes as we build a deeper relationship with Him. As we continue learning how Jesus taught His disciples to pray, we turn our attention to His model of prayer in Matthew 6:9–13, where He reveals a pattern that moves us from seeking the glory of God as we depend on Him for all that we need.

Prayer is one of the most central practices of the Christian faith, yet many believers feel unsure about how to pray or what prayer is truly meant to be. In the Sermon on the Mount, we begin learning from Jesus Himself, who first taught His disciples both what prayer is and what prayer is not. Rather than a performance, a formula, or a way to inform God, prayer is an invitation into a regular, and relational trust where we connect with God as our Heavenly Father.

The Practices of the Faith are not circumstantial responses to life going wrong, but intentional rhythms that keep us close to God when life is going right. This week, we focus on The Practice of Scripture which is the foundational practice that shapes every other aspect of our faith. The Bible was not given merely to inform us, but to form us! As we commit ourselves to regularly reading, reflecting, and meditating on God’s Word, we position ourselves to hear His voice more clearly and live faithfully under His authority.

Throughout Scripture, hunger is used as a powerful metaphor for desire, passion, and dependence on God. Just as physical hunger signals our need for food, spiritual hunger is a holy discomfort that reminds us we need more of God in our lives. This weekend we’ll explore what fuels our hunger for God, what hinders it, and how we can intentionally cultivate a deeper desire for His presence, His Word, and His ways. As we continue our time of fasting and seeking the Lord, we’re believing God to awaken fresh hunger and to satisfy us as we earnestly seek Him.

As we begin a new series called “Practices of the Faith”, we are focusing on the spiritual disciplines that shape how we follow Jesus in everyday life. Fasting is one of the most important and least understood of the practices in Scripture. Fasting is the intentional decision to lay aside food and other things in order to seek God more fully through prayer and dependence. We are beginning this series with fasting because it will help reset our spiritual priorities and create space for God to work in us. Also, as we enter into a season of prayer and fasting for 21 days, I believe that we will receive a renewed hunger, greater focus, and deeper reliance on God as a church family

In a world that constantly competes for our attention and shapes the way we think, desire, and live, it’s easy to be formed without even realizing it. Scripture reminds us that we are always being shaped by something—either by the patterns of the world or by the way of Jesus. This message invites us to pause, reflect, and realign our lives around Christ by asking honest questions about who or what is shaping us, who God is calling us to become, and how we will intentionally follow Him into that life. As we step into a new year, this is an invitation to reset—not our schedules or devices, but our discipleship—choosing once again to be formed by the ways and words of Jesus.

We talk about the story of Jesus all the time, but we don’t always stop to think about Joseph. Think about what he went through—finding out Mary was pregnant, wrestling with what to do, and then having angels speak to him. Scripture shows us a man under real pressure, facing a lot of uncertainty. Joseph didn’t have all the answers, but he trusted God anyway. And because of that, he saw and was a part of the story of Jesus, the Savior of the world. God always has the a better plan than we could ever have on our own; what is on the other side of our obedience?

This weekend we continue our Family of God series with our final message entitled “The Family That Welcomes the Stranger.” Throughout Scripture, God reveals His heart for the foreigner, the outsider, and the displaced, calling His people to love, protect, and welcome those who are far from home. As a church family, we want to better understand what it means to live out this calling in our own community. Today’s message will take the form of a conversation as we hear the story and perspective of Medard Ngueita, Executive Director of World Relief Western Washington, whose own journey powerfully reflects God’s work of turning strangers into family. Together, we will explore how the Gospel shapes our compassion and invites us to reflect the heart of Jesus to all.

Today we continue our Family of God series with a special message called “Reaching the Next Generation”. As a church, we believe every generation matters and that passing on our faith is one of our greatest biblical responsibilities. Rather than hearing from one pastor, you’ll hear from our Children’s Pastor, Youth Pastor, and Young Adults Pastor as they share how God is moving in the lives of children, students, and young adults—and how we, as a spiritual family, can intentionally raise them in the faith. Together, we want to seek God’s heart for the next generation and take ownership of the call to disciple those who are coming behind us.

This weekend in our Family of God series, we are taking time to honor the older generation in our church—those who have walked with Jesus faithfully and carry wisdom that strengthens the entire body. Rather than a traditional sermon, Pastor Ben will interview two trusted leaders from our NWC family, inviting them to share not only from their experience but also to help guide us in how to better honor, value, and learn from the older saints in our church and broader community. Scripture calls us to stand in the presence of the aged and to seek wisdom from those who have gone before us, and today we posture our hearts to listen, learn, and celebrate the gift they continue to be in God’s family.

In this life we will encounter storms. It is not a matter of if but rather when. What should our posture be when we come up against the storms of life? As believers, we must know that Jesus is with us and leading us through these seasons. The story does not end in our storm, it ends with Jesus.
