This is the unbelievable survival story of Juliane Keopcke, who was on a flight with her mother on Christmas eve, headed home, when their plane was struck by lightening. Juliane was ripped from the plane and fell two miles, straight down, landing in the remote jungles of Peru. She was the only survivor of the plane crash and despite her injuries, hiked for 11 days until she found civilization. All this at the tender age of just 17 years old! Georgia Tann ran a Tennessee children's home for 3 decades, from the 1920s-1950s, and was a force in driving the acceptance of adoption back when adoption was a social taboo. She catered to celebrities, State Governors, and anyone with deep enough pockets. To those looking in, she looked like a saint; doing good for needy children and families who wanted them. In reality, she was a contender for one of America's worst women in history. The children she adopted out were kidnapped (often by her own hand), abused, and sold for extraordinary profit. Hundreds died while in her home. Thousands would never see their birth parents again. With the help of the mayor, a corrupt judge, and the city attorney, Georgia was free to make them all rich through child trafficing , completely unhindered by outside scrutiny for years.   ************TODAY'S EPISODE DEALS WITH EXPLICIT CONTENT************Facebook: April StoryInstagram: itsaninterestingtoryGmail: itsaninterestingstorypod@gmail.comSources:https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1131282/The-Hollywood-Baby-Snatcher-The-sinister-story-woman-stole-children-sold-stars.htmlhttps://medium.com/exploring-history/georgia-tann-the-mastermind-of-a-black-market-baby-ring-that-lasted-for-three-decades-f76c8175e4f1https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1990-08-20-vw-882-story.htmlhttps://historydaily.org/georgia-tann
Most people dream of winning big when they play the lottery. One Waffle House waitress got a ticket rather than a tip one evening that ended up winning her ten million dollars! The excitement lasted about half a minute before everything turned upside down for poor Tonda Lynn Dickerson. She found herself in a nightmare that would last more than a decade and see her through 3 lawsuits for her money and being kidnapped at gunpoint. This story just might change your mind on wanting to win the lottery.Email: itsaninterestingstorypod@gmail.comFacebook:https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100084486543112Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/itsaninterestingstory/Sources:https://www.lotterypros.com/lottopedia/the-tonda-dickerson-story/https://www.lottoanalyst.com/lottery-winner-tonda-lynn-dickersonhttps://www.forbes.com/sites/kellyphillipserb/2012/03/06/waffle-house-waitress-wins-big-in-the-lottery-loses-at-tax-court/?sh=18b62aca170dhttps://www.stout.com/en/insights/commentary/the-10-million-tiphttps://www.journalofaccountancy.com/issues/2012/jul/lottery-win.html
There's a lot going on in the world of politics, so there's no better time to talk about some of the best of the worst of petty politics and politicians from around the world. Let's face it, no matter where we live, there's no shortage of dumb politics going on. Let's talk about settling insults inside an MMA cage or with a duel on the Assembly House lawn. Or, city-sanctioned spite statues that moons neighbors we find irritating, a certain president who banned Peppa Pig and Pooh Bear because people hurt his feelings by making memes out of them, sending dog poop through the mail to constituents, or pretending to be dead rather than face the music of breaking COVID lockdown. These are just some of the things you'll hear about in this episode. It's going to be a jaw-dropping list that you do not want to miss!Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100084486543112&mibextid=LQQJ4dInstagram: itsaninterestingstoryEmail: itsaninterestingstorypod@gmail.comSources:https://www.vice.com/en/article/wxdnvx/brazilian-politicians-are-now-settling-disputes-with-mma-fightingNEW: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/asia/peppa-pig-ban-china-childrens-tv-cartoon-gangster-douyin-a8332846.htmlhttps://www.cnn.com/2015/12/22/politics/2015-weird-political-stories/index.htmlhttps://www.openculture.com/2019/05/the-last-duel-took-place-in-france-in-1967-and-its-caught-on-film.htmlhttps://www.newsbreak.com/news/2935195721241-houston-fashion-designer-accuses-ex-biden-energy-official-sam-brinton-of-stealing-her-clothes-wearing-them-in-latest-luggage-swipe-scandal?noAds=1&_f=app_share&s=i3https://www.topic.com/welcome-to-the-petty-hall-of-famehttps://www.foxnews.com/world/colombian-judge-suspended-after-appearing-on-zoom-call-half-naked-smoking-bed https://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/local/michigan/2021/09/15/inkster-rep-jewell-jones-facing-more-charges-following-jail-key-incident/8350936002/
We all know the feeling of living with some amount of regret. The chance we didn't take, the opportunity we missed, the words or actions we wish we could take back, a bad choice we made. How far would you be willing to go in order to redo that moment? In this episode, I'll tell you about three people who took it pretty far. Two stole their teenager's identities in order to go back to school, and the other pretended to be a teenager so he could go back for a redo on grades. The first wanted to be a cheerleader so badly she stole her 15-year-old daughter's identity to re-enroll in high school to make that dream come true. The second stole her 22-year-old daughter's identity to go back to college. And our third guy was one of the O.G.s in the fake-being-a-teen-and-go-back-to-school game...all because his grades hadn't been good enough to get him into medical school, so at 30, he thought he'd try high school again so he could improve those grades and get into college! It's all very weird... Meet the Wise brothers, a trio of amazing young men who all served in different branches of the military. Tragically, one would be left with a distinction no one wants; the military designation of "sole survivor" after two of the brothers were KIA. The oldest, Jeremy, would start his military career as a Navy SEAL and, afterwards, would do contracting work for the CIA. Then there's the middle brother, Ben. He joined the Army, starting his military career in the regular Army as an infantryman before becoming a part of the Special Forces (or Green Berets). Not to be outdone, youngest brother, Beau, decided the Marine Corps was his calling. Beau is the only remaining living brother after both Jeremy and Ben died just a short two years apart; each in Afghanistan. Listen as Beau tells us in his own words about his brothers and the stories of their heroism. Beau Wise co-authored a book called "Three Wise Men" and can be found in most book stores and online.

Let's talk about ghost ships and abandoned lighthouses! In this episode, we're going to go over the story of the Mary Celeste, a ship that was found floating in the ocean with all its supplies but none of its crew. It's a weird case that's intrigued people for more than a century. In the second half of the show, I'll tell you about the Flannan Lighthouse. Just like the Mary Celeste, the Flannan Lighthouse should have been manned; it had three lighthouse keepers who lived on the island permanently. But one day in December 1900, two ships noticed the lighthouse was dark and after one docked on the island to take a look around, they discovered that no one was there. A clock had stopped, gear was left behind, and odd entries were made in the log book, but there were no signs of life except the haunting tweets of a pet canary left behind. If you like a good mystery, you'll love these stories!
Join me for absolutely crazy medical conditions and odd medical stories! I'll tell you all about the people who can't feel fear or pain, the story of the dancing plague of 1518, and the guy who had a rod shoot through the entirety of his brain and lived to tell the tale...these and so many more! It's a fascinating look at some truly bizarre conditions. As an added bonus, you'll get to hear all about one of my most embarrassing moments in public AND I'll provide you with cures from the 1700s for such afflictions as an enlarged penis and tonsilitis, so that'll be fun for all of us!email: itsaninterestingstorypod@gmail.comFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100084486543112Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/itsaninterestingstory/References:https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/323395#Foreign-accent-syndromehttps://sites.utdallas.edu/fas/https://www.healthline.com/health/can-you-die-from-laughing#is-laughing-badhttps://www.iflscience.com/the-science-behind-the-mysterious-blue-people-of-kentucky-47413https://www.britannica.com/event/dancing-plague-of-1518https://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/phineas-gage-neurosciences-most-famous-patient-11390067/https://www.12newsnow.com/article/news/illinois-mans-mysterious-medical-condition-makes-him-a-human-suction-cup/502-270573655https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/woman-cant-feel-fear-180953988/https://www.zmescience.com/science/people-who-feel-no-fear-09523/https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/health-news/the-people-who-can-t-feel-pain-scientists-discover-cause-of-rare-inherited-condition-that-turns-off-pain-sensors-10274604.htmlhttps://www.gla.ac.uk/myglasgow/library/files/special/exhibns/month/aug2009.htmlhttps://www.mentalfloss.com/article/53330/17-bizarre-natural-remedies-1700s
It's shocking enough to think about one busload of kids being taken hostage on their school bus, but it's worse to know it's happened twice! Listen to this week's episode about a basic training soldier who decided he made a mistake by joining the military and decided to hijack a bus was the best way to try and get home. Then we'll talk about the 1976 case of the Chowchilla, California, bus kidnapping, where 26 students and their bus driver were buried alive and missing for 36 hours. ***ALL CHILDREN AND THE BUS DRIVERS ARE OKAY***  itsaninterstingstorypod@gmail.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/itsaninterestingstory/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100084486543112  SOURCES:  https://www.armytimes.com/news/your-army/2021/05/06/fort-jackson-investigating-army-trainee-accused-of-kidnapping-students-on-a-school-bus/ https://www.armytimes.com/news/your-army/2021/08/27/new-details-on-fort-jackson-trainees-bus-hijacking-and-how-basic-has-changed-there/ https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/armed-u-s-army-trainee-hijacks-school-bus-full-children-n1266514 https://www.stripes.com/incoming/2021-05-20/Sheriff-Fort-Jackson-soldier-who-hijacked-school-bus-attempted-to-escape-from-jail-1553559.html https://www.thestate.com/news/local/crime/article266862421.html https://www.cbsnews.com/pictures/chowchilla-bus-kidnapping-frederick-woods-rare-photos-from-one-of-the-largest-kidnappings-in-u-s-history/ https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2022-08-17/frederick-woods-will-be-released-on-parole-chowchilla-1976-kidnapping-26-children https://allthatsinteresting.com/chowchilla-kidnapping https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2022/08/18/frederick-woods-kidnapped-school-bus-children-parole/10356066002/ https://cityofchowchilla.org/300/1976-Bus-Kidnapping
One journalist specializing in master pranks creates a restaurant and climbed to the number one spot on TripAdvisor in London with a ridiculous menu based on people's feelings. Everyone, including people with impressive titles, was desperate to get a reservation, vendors were sending products in hopes they'd get a contract, and top chefs were dropping their applications by the dozen. There was just one little catch...the restaurant didn't actually exist. Listen to this crazy tale of how one man got to the top spot on TripAdvisor in London with a fake restaurant by sheer audacity.   Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/itsaninterestingstory/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100084486543112 Email: itsaninterestingstorypod@gmail.com  Sources: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/food/wp-content/uploads/sites/6/2017/12/capture3.pnghttps://www.vice.com/en/article/434gqw/i-made-my-shed-the-top-rated-restaurant-on-tripadvisorhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oobah_Butlerhttps://www.cbc.ca/radio/asithappens/as-it-happens-thursday-edition-1.4437547/how-this-man-tricked-tripadvisor-into-listing-his-shed-as-london-s-no-1-rated-restaurant-1.4437555https://www.vice.com/en/article/59d8v5/i-bullshitted-my-way-to-the-top-of-paris-fashion-weekhttps://www.forbes.com/sites/heathermorgan/2018/12/05/trolling-fashion-week-tripadvisor-oobah-butler-book/https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1724481/Journalist-restaurant-number-one-tripadvisor-londonhttps://frenchly.us/how-a-vice-contributor-faked-his-way-into-pfw/https://www.vice.com/en/article/59d8v5/i-bullshitted-my-way-to-the-top-of-paris-fashion-weekhttps://thesciencesurvey.com/spotlight/2019/11/24/oobah-butler-a-true-entrepreneur/https://www.thedrum.com/news/2018/10/18/meet-the-real-oobah-butler-how-the-vice-prankster-tricked-the-worlds-media-withhttps://www.voguebusiness.com/companies/designer-and-influencer-alexa-chung-to-close-her-fashion-label#:~:text=After%20five%20years%20in%20business,hit%20hard%20by%20the%20pandemic.&text=To%20receive%20the%20Vogue%20Business,struggling%20to%20turn%20a%20profit.

Normally when a sentence starts with "A man walks into a bar..." we expect to hear a joke. In the case of Brian Shaffer, it's the ominous beginning of his bizarre disappearance. In 2006 Brian was in his second year of med school, getting ready to propose to his girlfriend, and had just killed it on his finals. It was time to celebrate! He and his roommate headed to a nearby watering hole to get some drinks. Video cameras pointed at the only useable door captured him walking in but never recorded him leaving. That would be the last night anyone ever saw Brian; he seemingly vanished into thin air after he entered the bar. It's a true mystery that's never been solved. To donate to Texas Equusearch please click on the link: https://texasequusearch.org/Email me at: itsaninterestingstorypod@gmail.comFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100084486543112 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/itsaninterestingstory/Sources used for this episode:https://www.10tv.com/article/news/local/brian-shaffer-missing-central-ohio-man-cnn-headline-news-docu-series/530-9382b134-5e2a-4564-9707-82d22b16239f https://www.columbusnavigator.com/brian-shaffer-missing-columbus/ https://www.dispatch.com/story/news/local/2021/03/29/brian-shaffer-disappearance-photo-shows-how-osu-student-may-look-now/6995317002/ https://www.dispatch.com/story/news/local/2021/11/15/cnn-headline-news-series-feature-case-osu-student-brian-shaffer/8617206002/ https://www.fbi.gov/wanted/vicap/missing-persons/brian-shaffer https://allthatsinteresting.com/brian-shaffer https://www.thelantern.com/2008/10/brian-shaffer-clue-could-lead-to-missing-student/ http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/s/shaffer_brian.html United States Census Bureau https://namus.nij.ojp.gov/ http://www.findbrianshaffer.com/ https://texasequusearch.org/ https://www.grunge.com/620417/the-biggest-brian-shaffer-theories-what-really-happened/ https://www.thelantern.com/2009/04/is-brian-shaffer-alive/

Ron Stallworth was a black police detective who once went undercover and infiltrated the KKK. How did he do that?! You won't want to miss this epic story of a card-carrying black member of one of the most racist organizations. This episode is so much fun! Even if you don't like comic book superheroes, I promise you want to stick around for this episode. I'll tell you about some of the strangest heroes that were so weird even the comic world rejected them, like a hero that wears a blindfold and delivers his evidence to the police via a brick through the chief's window. Or, the super soldier who dons a frumpy dress and cane to fight crime, a disembodies eyeball or the guy who wears a onesie and uses a dog as a horse. Have you ever dreamed of doing big? Like, save the world kind of big? Meet Marcus Hutchins, a guy who actually did just that. In 2017 an insidious cyber attack was invading computers all over the world and holding them for ransom. It was infecting hospitals, railways, businesses, and regular people at lightning speed. In 24 hours, it would have made its way to every vulnerable computer in the world...that is if Marcus Hutchins hadn't figured out how to neutralize it. As if that wasn't amazing enough, he was barely out of his teens, he'd done it from the comfort of his bedroom, and he did it by accident. Listen to the conclusion of this wild case in this second episode of The Indestructible Michael Malloy.
Meet Michael Malloy, a man with nine lives who unwittingly avoided murder time after time by a group of dummies that were so bad at being criminals even the police didn't believe the story when the members of the gang told them what happened. A bar owner and his cronies spent months trying to kill one of the regular patrons of this slum to collect a life insurance policy they'd taken out on him. But in what can only be described as a perpetual episode of Looney Tunes, they would lay trap after trap only to have Michael avoid it, happily unaware his "friends" were trying to off him for cash. This is part one of a two-part story.
