Well... that went better than expected. Oklahoma took down Florida 23-7 in their first-ever trip to Gainesville, and boy, is there a lot to talk about. Jason Witten, round of applause. Was it flashy? No, but the offense looked manageable given the circumstances surrounding that unit all week. However, if Jason Witten truly wants a shot at the offensive coordinator position permanently, tonight was not a bad start to his campaign. On the defensive side of the ball, the Sooners bounced back in a huge way after a disappointing performance against South Carolina last week. Would you look at that, the Sooners win! It wasn't the prettiest game in the world, but there are definitely things to be happy about after Oklahoma's 23-15 win over Mississippi State. John Mateer, hats off. Peyton Bowen is possibly the best safety in college football. Isaiah Sategna did exactly what your star wide receiver should do. I have no answers for Tate Sandell, though, sorry. While there was no Kamario Taylor, the defense still showed up despite the opposing offense having little fight to give. Is this team fixed? No. But a win in this league, especially with great teams dropping left and right, you better cherish every win you can get. The Oklahoma Sooners did the unthinkable. They went into the Cotton Bowl and played a turnover free game, found some room to run and let the defense and special teams score touchdowns. Meanwhile the Sooners were much better this year containing Arch Manning, although he did hit a few big passes on the OU secondary that was missing starting corner Eli Bowen.
