With the increase in the ease of travel and expats, research has found an exceptional increase of interracial and intercultural marriages over the past thirty years. In the last 10 years the numbers doubled. However, the dark side of such relationships is that they are found to have a higher risk for failure, stressful conditions, divorce, and lower marital satisfaction rate, as compared to monocultural couples. Meaning on top of the normal difficulties that monocultural couples faces, interracial and intercultural couples seem to have additional sources of difficulties, which include macro cultural factors found in the family and society. In this episode we explore some of these difficulties and further provide expat women the advice needed when things seem irreparable and they seek divorce in the Czech relationship. In our upcoming episode I chat with Senior Attorney Silvie FELIX KOUBÍKOVÁ from Koubíková Legal who has helped a lot of expats with regards to family law.We cover areas such as1. The rise of intercultural and interracial relationships and their effects on marriage2. Societal views on interracial and intercultural couples in the Czech Republic3. The divorce process involving a foreigner in Czech Republic (filing, grounds for divorce, available resources for expats and the length of the divorce process)4. Legal consequences of divorce (name change, division of property, spousal support, child custody, removal of child abroad and child maintenance fees)You can watch the episode on our YouTube Channel Dear Ladies Network and also listen on Apple and Spotify.
The Czech Republic was under the capitalist regime for 33 years and it is now opening up to internationals but can some of the culture shocks foreigners face be excused with "Its Because Of Communism"? Where does one draws the line between bad customer service by one individual to" its because of the communist mentality" as it is often referred to here. Listen to this episode to find out and also learn about first hand experiences of women of color living in the Czech Republic as I chat to Kelsey an American living in Prague. Kelsey is an activist who has been vocal about human rights in Czech especially when it comes to Roma people as well as women rights. She is a brilliant young woman studying her Masters in Prague. This episode is an eye opener to social issues when it comes to foreigners living in the Czech Republic, especially those of color.

Prague is experiencing a housing crisis where there is a huge demand over supply. This has perpetuated a power play on the part of landlords breeding a culture of "take it or leave it" when it comes to the treatment of tenants. In this episode I talk with Martina Kačerová a real estate lawyer with years experience in the real estate industry mostly helping expats with the buying and selling of property as well as landlord disputes. If you are curious about the renting process or how to solve some of the common landlord disputes including but not limited to repairs, rental increase, eviction or getting your deposit back, then this episode was created with you in mind. Give it a listen and let us know your thoughts. You can reach Martina at martina@kacerova.cz or find her on Facebook
