Guitarist, radio show host, author, and Jackson, TN native Ron Haney joins Adam Pope for an interview focused on the life of Johnny Cash's longtime drummer- WS "Fluke" Holland.  Ron deep dives on the story of how WS ended up as drummer on Carl Perkins first session at Sun Studio in Memphis, how WS became drummer for the Tennessee Three who backed Johnny Cash, the first drummer to play a full kit on the Opry, and more. Ron fondly recalls the good times and what it was like to travel the world and be friends with "Fluke." One of my favorite stories is when WS decided to raise money to purchase a mandolin.
Adam Pope goes to the small town of Red Boiling Springs, TN and sits down with Jo-el & LeAnne Ulmer, the husband & wife team who makes up traditional country music duo "2Country4Nashville." They candidly talk about the tragic details that brought them together and how it formed the connection that began their amazing love story, how they quit their jobs and sold everything for their music dreams, how much their fans mean to them, their upcoming album, their upcoming show at the Ryman Auditorium, and more!

Episode 3- Shawn Camp

2021-03-0954:10

Hit songwriter Shawn Camp casually talks about moments he spent with icons such as when he toured in Jerry Reed's band, auditioned for Bill Monroe, watched a Garth Brooks concert while sitting next to Roger Miller, and more. He dives into his record deal in the 90's, writing #1 hit songs, joining grammy award winning "Earls of Leicester," and more. Shawn is very humble and I noticed that those he has created music WITH seem to be the story he wants to tell rather than just talking about the music itself.
Adam Pope has a fascinating conversation with session musician Charlie McCoy about his career on Music Row. Starting with moving to Nashville, meeting Chet Atkins, sitting in on a session with Ann-Margret, how he ended up playing on sessions with Roy Orbison, Elvis, Bob Dylan, and more. Charlie reveals who hollered "when you goin' down to Florida?" on the Johnny Cash session when Charlie was playing harmonica on the famous "Orange Blossom Special" song. Charlie also takes us through how he ended up becoming music director for "Hee Haw" television series. Charlie McCoy is a great storyteller and has one of the most incredible resume's in Nashville music history!  After this podcast was recorded Charlie McCoy was invited to be inducted as a member of the Grand Ole Opry!
