The patriarchs in Genesis 5 lived through a sensual and violent context during their days. Men's hearts and minds were preoccupied with murder, sexual depravity, and lawlessness. This lesson deals with Enoch and how he lived in intimacy with the LORD even in light of events that could have tormented him daily. Living as a believer in Christ means to live a unique life. Today's lesson deals with the reality of being born in sin. Please take the time to look at Genesis 5:1-4 and notice birth of son Seth to Adam and Eve. Seth is born in the likeness of his father Adam and according to Adam's image. However, these men kept pursuing the LORD God in all they did in speech and conduct. Let's get into the Scriptures!
The Lord chose Abraham, reckoned his faith as righteousness, and directed his steps to pursue The Lord and His direction. Looking through selected passages in Genesis, we can see Abraham listening to God's Authority and Sovereignty and Abraham living by God's Word. Abraham sinned in several instances in his encounters with the Egyptians and Philistines but the Lord was faithful to protect him through these situations. As Phil teaches part 1 of Romans 4:16-25, he will be teaching in Genesis 12:1-3, 7, Genesis 15: 4-6, 18, Genesis 17:1-6, Genesis 21:1-5. It is not popular to be a servant or slave. In the opinion of many, to be a servant or slave is to be powerless. The message of Christianity is to be a bondservant: service to the Lord Jesus Christ in joy and gladness. Cain and Abel... two brothers working noble and honorable professions. In agriculture, one is a farmer while the other is a shepherd. However, when it comes to relationships with the LORD, one is intimate and personal with the LORD. The other brother is casual and arrogant with his relationship with HIM. Part 1 of "Cain and Abel" will gives us insight into the brothers' relationship with The LORD and the relationship of Cain and Abel. Adam and Eve have sinned and their relationship with their Creator will be different. There will be consequences. However, The LORD will give them hope and reconciliation. Adam and Eve are hiding in embarassment, guilt, and shame. They have no ability to come before the LORD. The LORD is the One who has to power to bring redemption to people. Blood has always been the LORD'S means to forgive sin (Hebrews 9:22). Genesis 3:21 speaks of "the LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife , and clothed them". The word "made" means execute or slay...an animal was slain; death and blood was poured out! Let's talk about this passage! Reference Genesis 3:20-24, Hebrews 1:3-4
It is incredible how the LORD God shows HIS gracious attributes to us. Adam and Eve sinned by eating the fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. This did not surprise the LORD God in any way. HE declared VICTORY! HE proclaimed VICTORY through a Coming Messiah! Check out what Phil is discussing in Genesis 3:14-15.

Who says the early days of Creation in The Garden of Eden are archaic and irrelevant?! The LORD God created man with intelligence and abilities. These abilities did not evolve. The LORD placed them in Adam...remember he is made in the Image of God and HIS Likeness. He has given man responsibilities and freedom. Adam has one restriction: do not eat from The Tree of The Knowledge of Good and Evil. There is excitement in the Garden for Adam and Eve. What joy there is for couples adopting a son or daughter! The new father and mother, the children, and the extended family all join in the excitement. The joy in seeing believers who live honorable in Christ is God's purpose for His people. We were once aliens, now we are adopted sons. As adopted sons, we will live desiring to please God always. Lutherans, Presbyterians, and other Reformed Denominations place an emphasis on Martin Luther's 95 Theses as a break from the universal, catholic church.
