Maddy was originally going to come on and discuss the Secret Life of Erika Kirk (which we will be doing later) as well as plug the new L O S T bonus sideshow. However we wanted to start the episode with some thoughts on the current situation in Minneapolis, which ended up eating up an entire hour. Take care of yourselves as best you can, please.
Maddy will be back for the Erika ep and our LOST miniseries soon, both of which you can find here at Patreon.com/KillTheComputer

It's estimated that Grok, Elon Musk's chatbot formerly known as "MechaHitler" is now generating upwards of thousands of images of CSAM a day. While other countries are moving to outright ban it, Elon Musk is shrugging it off, his friends like Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney are rallying to his side, and the Trump administration, perhaps unsurprisingly, is silent. We brought on journalist Maggie Harrison Dupré to discuss her article on the subject and more.

Hussein Kesvani, freelance journalist, co-host of Trash Future and 10k Posts, joins us for our first ep of the year. In it, we borrow a term from our friend Ed Zitron known as "The Rot Economy". Instead of applying the theory to products and services, we ask what happens to the human brain when companies know they're harming their users but still insist upon a growth-at-all-cost mentality. Consider this the first part in an ongoing arc exploring this topic.
Hussein can be found at: https://trashfuture.co.uk/
We take a trip down memory lane and discuss the history of alt-tech microblogging platforms like Parler, Gettr, Gab etc that, while failing, ultimately served to pave the way for Trump's Truth Social and Elon Musk's "X". As usual, along the way we discover some interesting critters.
Note: this episode was originally recorded on September 29th. We're unlocking it because we may not be releasing another episode on the main feed before the end of the year. Thank you for being with us, we hope you have a wonderful New Years and look forward to our best work coming in 2026!

While recording our end of the year worst tweets episode, Caleb lost power mid-recording due to the recent extreme weather in the PNW, so June and Janie decided to pivot into a free-form conversation about art and music. We decided to release it as bonus content while we finish two bracket episodes. Sorry for the delay, we'll get those out to you ASAP!

We discuss Samantha Fulnecky's abysmal essay and then unwrap the history of her family how this entire stupid situation was a transparently crafted grift from the start.

We start this ep by discussing how social media completely redefined Charlie Kirk's life and death through the use of "Kirkification" edits. Then we take a more serious look at the "Grieftech" industry-- people who want to revive the dead in the form of AI for profit.

The original plan was for Jeremy to join us to finish some of the news articles from last ep, but instead turned into a loose form discussion on some of the horrifying ways tech companies are profiting off of our isolation.

In the midst of a slew of Epstein dumps, Ed Zitron released an interesting article about Open AI that got lost in the noise regarding some, let's say, financial irregularities he believes are a possible sign of the bubble beginning to burst.

Great ep, Ed! But please leave your horrible asshole girlfriend out of our podcast listening. Nobody cares, and she's an awful person actually. Multiple people have tried to tell you this. Maybe shut up and listen instead of being her doormat.
