Description

The Scarf Bergara Wore (TSBW), established in 2015, is the original Stockport County fans podcast, created by County fans, for County fans. Hosted by Russ Johnson, alongside Waggie, Dan Culverwell, Jimmy Harmer, Andy Reding, and Stu Hope, we proudly operate independently from any club-affiliated organisations.

Our podcast features guests from all facets of County life, including players, directors, and, most importantly, the fans. Over the years, we’ve expanded to produce two episodes per week, partnered annually with a charity, and covered the ladies’ team. As part of the TalkSport fan network, we offer regular giveaways and occasionally host live events.

Entirely volunteer-driven, TSBW is a true passion project. We may have a small house, but we have a big heart.

🎙️ Welcome to This Week’s Award-Winning Podcast!🎙️ Russ, Waggie, and Andy are joined once again by returning fan guest Ryan Bradley — becoming a bit of a regular now… might be eyeing up one of our jobs?🔍 We Dive Into:⚽️ The Brilliant 1–0 Win Away at Donny (Vertu Cup Semi-Final)We’re off to Wemberlee!A very comfortable 1–0 victory to secure our place in the final. We break down the game, player ratings, that Norwood free-kick, and — of course — throw in a bit of xG chat for good measure.🏟️ Simon Wilson Interview ReactionWe discuss what he did say — including:What defines success or failure this seasonThe SSV situationThe Women’s teamThe Academy 10-year planAffordable housing plans at Grove LaneThen we get into what he didn’t say… particularly around EP development.🎤 Random Sh*t of the WeekAndy’s back in the hot seat with a General Football Quiz (plus a couple of classic Andy-isms).Guess the ground from its nameGuess the club from a postcode (trickier than you think)And a few Family Fortunes-style questions thrown in for good measureTSBW — NWFA Award-Winning PodcastFor County Fans, By County Fans. 🔵⚪️Sign up to get ad free and exclusive special guest podcasts, a monthly giveaway plus first dibs on live events with former players (no extra cost!). This week Russ and Andy are joined by debut fan guest Rebecca Fitzpatrick. There's the usual debut guest questions, plus we tackle the hard topics:Chally’s job safe? Players to blame? Entitled fans? 🎙️ Welcome to This Week’s Award-Winning Podcast!🎙️ Waggie and Jimmy are joined by returning fan guest Ryan Bradley — no debut questions this time, so we get straight into it… unfortunately.🔍 We Dive Into:⚽️ The Dire 0–1 Defeat Away at BradfordWere we unlucky? Wrong system? Wrong personnel? Or was it just the pitch?A generally abstract and average performance against an equally average Bradford side. Did we simply cancel each other out, or were the issues deeper than that? And of course… it could only be one man to score the winner against us — bloody Sarce!!🏟️ SSV UpdateNew information released by the club and council — including confirmation that the gym will remain open until at least the end of the year. We discuss what might happen next following concerns raised by local residents.🌟 Wigan at Home (Saturday Preview)What needs to change? What are we expecting? And will they actually let Moxon play?🎤 Random Sh*t of the WeekJimmy makes his RSOTW debut with “Guess the Player.”Four statements, guess as early as you dare — the earlier you get it, the more points you score. But guess it wrong and you’re frozen out!Plus, a little bonus kicker at the end — name a player whose surname starts with the last letter of the previous player’s surname. You’ll have to listen to work that one out…TSBW — NWFA Award-Winning PodcastFor County Fans, By County Fans. 🔵⚪️Sign up to get ad free and exclusive special guest podcasts, a monthly giveaway plus first dibs on live events with former players (no extra cost!). 🎙️ Welcome to This Week’s Award-Winning Podcast!🎙️ Russ, Waggie, and Steve B are joined by returning fan guest Liam Walker — no debut questions this time, so we get straight into the action.🔍 We Dive Into:⚽️ The Dire 0–0 Draw with Leyton OrientA very shallow dive into a dull afternoon, focusing mainly on keepers feigning injuries to allow team talks — and what, if anything, can be done about it.⚽️ Outstanding Away Performance at Port Vale (Vertu Cup Quarter-Final)We discuss brilliant displays from Sidibeh, Mothersille, Diamond, and Bate (and, in the end, most of the team). Plus, the state of their pitch — or are we just spoiled by the carpet we play on at EP?🏆 Cup “Ejection” RumoursA wild claim that we could be thrown out for playing Tanto. We quickly put this to bed, with several members at TSBW Towers trawling through the 16-page rulebook to set the record straight.🎧 Mark Stott’s Interview with DVSC’s PodcastOur thoughts on the interview, key highlights and concerns — and when he’s finally coming on our pod (hint hint) and whose door will he be knocking on first with a plane ticket?🏟️ SSV UpdateThe current situation, information released by the club, and what we think happens next following concerns from local residents.🌟 Kyle Wootton — EFL League One Player of the MonthWell deserved, and fully backed by all of us.🎤 Random Sh*t of the Week (Yes, It’s Back!)This week, Steve takes over with County Blankety Blank — sadly without the chequebook and pen. We’re given quotes from players and managers with key words blanked out, and have to guess the originals (or come up with better alternatives). Plenty of laughs and great suggestions in this one.TSBW — NWFA Award-Winning PodcastFor County Fans, By County Fans. 🔵⚪️Sign up to get ad free and exclusive special guest podcasts, a monthly giveaway plus first dibs on live events with former players (no extra cost!). 🎙️ Welcome to This Week’s Award-Winning Podcast!Russ and Waggie are joined by fan debutant and one of County’s resident historians — Marcus Heap.We put Marcus through his debut questions, and unsurprisingly, with him being a historian, the answers come packed with knowledge, detail, and brilliant insight into his County journey.A great introduction to one of the club’s most passionate and knowledgeable voices.🔍 We Dive Into:⚽️ The 2–1 “Game of Two Halves” Against PlymouthA (slightly) shallow dive into the contrasting first and second-half performances, the minutes’ applause — disrespect or misunderstanding? Wootton’s outrageous backheel, Sidibeh’s incredible jumping reach, and Tanto’s WWE-style return.⚽️ Leyton Orient Preview (Home)Are we confident against a Richie Wellens side? Can we confuse their players by throwing empty crisp packets on the pitch? And are we finally due to a win after last season’s play-off heartbreak?🔄 Transfers ChatLouie Barry, the prodigal son, returns (injured) for the third time and is this the best transfer window of the Stott era?📚 County History SpecialWe then hand over to Marcus for a fascinating deep dive into the history of our beloved club. We had plenty lined up, but only managed to cover a few — including:“13 Men and a Dog” - The myth around the 1921 Leicester City fixture at Old Trafford (including are we The Original Football Crew? lol)Re-elections to the Football League in the late ’70s and ’80sThe most influential figures in the club’s historyBecause of the depth and quality of this discussion, there’s no Random Sh*t of the Week this time — and honestly, you won’t miss it (not that many would).💬 Over to YouIf you enjoyed the history chat, let us know if you’d like a dedicated podcast or mini-series on the club’s past. We loved recording it, and there’s so much more to explore.TSBW — NWFA Award-Winning PodcastFor County Fans, By County Fans. 🔵⚪️Sign up to get ad free and exclusive special guest podcasts, a monthly giveaway plus first dibs on live events with former players (no extra cost!). 🎙️ Welcome to This Week’s Award-Winning Podcast!Russ, Waggie, and Andy are joined once again by the man with no shirt — Pete Mellor. No debut questions this time, so we get straight into it.🔍 We Dive Into:⚽️ The 3–2 bizarre win over RotherhamA deep dive into the madness — that bizarre own goal (already a social media sensation, unfortunately), two more own goals (with the second now credited to Stokes), overall performances, Andresson’s genuine goal, growing partnerships/ understanding within the team, and grinding out a result.🔄 Transfers ChatPotential incomings and some possible outgoings, plus the more credible (and not-so-credible) whispers — with plenty of rumours flying around from random X accounts with the transfer generators spitting them out.🔮 Cardiff PreviewPredictions ahead of a massive away trip to face the league leaders.🎤 Random Sh*t of the WeekWaggie has been put back in charge this week (not sure that makes much difference). This time it’s “Who Would You Be?” — think about your footballing attributes in your prime and decide which ex-County player best suits you for each position.Example: If Waggie was a defender, he’d be Lee Todd — small, left-footed, could get up the wing and put in a decent cross.Still not much better than Andy’s shambles last week, if we’re being honest 😅🎤TSBW — NWFA Award-Winning PodcastFor County Fans, By County Fans. 🔵⚪️Sign up to get ad free and exclusive special guest podcasts, a monthly giveaway plus first dibs on live events with former players (no extra cost!). Andy puts Matthew through his debut questions, where he shows some very specific knowledge — especially about his first County game as a wee 9-year-old!Then we move straight into this week’s talking points…🔍 We Dive Into:⚽️ The 2–1 late win at home to Harrogate in the non-descript Trophy (Vertu Cup)A look at the performances of the Academy lads, Mothersille / Diamond up top, plus Stokes grabbing the goals, with assists from Andresson, and Allen. We also discuss DC’s approach and the fans’ changing attitude to the competition now we’re into the later stages.⚽️ The 1–0 very late win at home to HuddersfieldA Much more County like performance — a last-kick-of-the-game winner, holy water, and Kit Man Gate.🔄 Transfers ChatPotential incomings, plus the more credible (and not-so-credible) whispers… though there still isn’t much knocking about.🔮 Rotherham Predictions ahead for another home game this weekend.🎤And of course, it wouldn’t be a full episode without Random Sh*t of the Week — Andy is back, in charge and it's his take on more or less no wait a minute it isn't or is it???? even Andy doesn't know 😅🎤TSBW — NWFA Award-Winning PodcastFor County Fans, By County Fans. 🔵⚪️Sign up to get ad free and exclusive special guest podcasts, a monthly giveaway plus first dibs on live events with former players (no extra cost!).
