In this episode, I share what it means to me to be the innkeeper of my soul now and what that looks like. I also share the essential truths that help me return to my belonging time and again. Invitation for inquiry Here are a couple questions to reflect on about being the innkeeper of your soul: What does being the innkeeper of your soul mean to you? What does that look like for you? And what truths have you discovered on your journey that help you return to your own belonging? My essential truths Truth #1: I am perfect. Other people’s opinions about how I should look, how I should act, and who I should be are irrelevant. Who I am is exactly who I am meant to be. My opinion of myself is the only one that matters. Truth #2: Be loyal to myself, always. That means not sacrificing myself or what I know to be right for me—my wants, my needs, my desires, my beliefs, and my boundaries—for anyone else. Truth #3: Always trust my intuition. I already have the answers I’m looking for. I only need to listen to my intuition and follow its guidance. My intuition always knows the way home to my true self. Truth #4: Nothing is more important than my connection to myself. Too often I have disconnected from my true self to do what I thought others expected of me and would make them happy. And, as I’ve learned from past experience, what I lose in the process is myself. I can’t connect with others in a meaningful way if I’m not connected to my Self. (That’s “self” with a capital S.) Truth #5: My worth just is. I don’t need to prove my worth to anyone or rely on others to acknowledge my significance. My value is inherent in who I am. Truth #6: I owe it to myself to take care of me first. I can’t nourish others if my soul is starving. As my friend Jonathan Foxwell said, “When the well is full, no one worries about spilt water.” When I say yes to me, the abundance flow to others. I choose me

In this episode, I share how I abandoned myself in my life and how I eventually saved the only life I could save—mine—by learning to choose me. Here’s the full text of Mary Oliver’s poem “The Journey.”   Here is David Whyte’s reading of “The Journey.”  Invitation for inquiry Here are a couple questions to support you in choosing you: How might your life look different if you started choosing you in your life? What would choosing you look like? What’s one small action you could take in that direction? In this episode, I share the three fundamental truths that formed the foundation of the journey to reclaiming my own belonging. I also explain what I mean by “deserving a life you love,” and the limiting beliefs that got in the way of living a life I loved. The quote from Kevin Ngo: “If you don’t make the time to work on creating the life you want, you’re eventually going to be forced to spend a lot of time dealing with a life you don’t want.” Invitation for inquiry If you find yourself feeling unworthy of what you want for yourself and your life, here are a couple questions to help get you unstuck and moving forward toward your desire. What’s the story or limiting belief you’re telling yourself as to why you’re not worthy of what you want? And, who does that story belong to? Taking this a step further, you can ask yourself … Is this story true? If your answer is “yes,” ask yourself … Can I absolutely know this story is true? Often times, creating doubt about whether or not a false belief is true is enough to create some space for you to consider a different and better possibility for yourself. If you find your mind is still holding on tightly to the negative story, try turning it around to its opposite. Here’s a simple example: “I don’t deserve a job I love” would become “I do deserve a job I love.” And, if you feel inclined, you can write down all the evidence or reasons why that new and better story is true. The exercise of asking whether a story is true and then turning it around come from Byron Katie’s The Work [https://thework.com/]. In this episode, I share with you the events that led me to losing myself, the important truth I forgot, and the truth I discovered that made all the difference. Here’s the Hiro Boga quote I mention: “You return to belonging by trusting your own desires; by choosing your own way of being; crafting your own complex, creative, uniquely unfolding story.” Invitation for inquiry If you notice yourself feeling discontented, like you’ve been putting yourself on the back burner, here are a couple questions to help you tend the space within and connect with your inner wisdom: Where in your life are you forgetting that you matter and making decisions that reflect someone else’s wants, needs, or desires? And, what could you do that would help you connect with your inner wisdom and make decisions that reflect who you are and what you want for you? In this episode, I share the discovery of my life’s theme and explore the qualities of belonging as well as the difference between belonging and fitting in. Here’s the Hiro Boga quote I mention: “Belonging is a quality of the soul ... Fitting in, on the other hand, is where you mold yourself to conform to someone else’s shape. Fitting in takes you away from your natural self, out of belonging. It leaves you eternally the outsider, far from home.” And here’s the course that helped me uncover my life’s theme: Unlock Your Soul’s Calling [https://www.soulscallingacademy.com/] Invitation for inquiry If you're feeling like an outsider in your life, here are a couple questions to reflect on: Where in your life are you conforming yourself to someone else’s shape of who you should be? What small action could you take to bring yourself back in alignment with your true self, into a state of belonging rather than fitting in? Belonging (a poem by my 16-year-old self) Standing at the water’s edge, The waves rushing through my toes, I have a sense of belonging, One I’ve never had before. As the wind whispers through my hair, And the clouds play high above my head, It’s as though they’re trying to tell me something, The words I have yet to comprehend. But as the sun moves toward the horizon, And the tide begins to disappear, I think I’ve come to understand The words I’ve longed to hear. In this episode, I continue the conversation about belonging by sharing the unexpected revelation that completely changed my plans and my path. Invitation for inquiry Here are a couple questions to reflect on about identifying and embracing your truth … Where are you ignoring the messages leading you to your truth? What might open up for you if you embraced an uncomfortable or undesirable truth you’ve been resisting?
