In this episode I'm diving into the world of training talented horses. It's easy to take their abilities for granted, but rushing through exercises without a proper preparation, and the right explanation of all the steps, can lead to issues later on.Take flying changes for example. While a less talented horse requires careful steps like perfecting transitions, it can seem quite easy and  effortlessly for a talented horse. The danger in this?Without groundwork, also the talented horses can struggle when expectations rise. The same goes for trailer loading. A horse may load smoothly, but without the right explanation of the entire trailer loading process, they might face challenges later on.So whether it's a flying change or trailer loading, it's best to treat all horses with equal attention. It's really important to explain each step to set them up for lasting success! 💪This podcast was brought to you by Knegt → https://knegt-international.nl/===To learn more about TRT method and my online training, go here: https://trtmethod.com/youtube

Then listen to this new episode of the TRT Podcast! And of course, I'm really curious which horse you would choose and why if you could pick any horse in the world. "What's the #1 thing you'd want to change in the horse world?"That's the question I received in my latest Q&A podcast. How would you answer that question?Sure, there are a lot of things that I would like to change. But, to be honest, I also believe there are also a lot of good things happening around us already. And that we should pay more attention to these positive things instead of only pointing out all the things going wrong.Of course, people pointing out the things that are going wrong do this with the best interest in mind: to bring awareness and to make a change. However, it sometimes feels like some people are on a crusade to only share the terrible things. To show all the things that are not right. And, as a result, the horse world on social media seems to be flooded with all the things that are negative. But what is the result of a 'negative' post on social media? When I see a post like that when scrolling through my feed, I don't really know how to go from there. The instant feeling I get is sadness.I don't feel it's a place that will inspire people to make a positive, lasting change and for people to progress and move forward.I do feel this happens when you give examples of how things can be better for your horse and yourself. I feel that in order for people to make progress, they need to be motivated in a positive manner. That being said... want to know what I would change in the equestrian world by simply snapping my fingers?Find out in this video!Looking forward to reading in the comments how you feel about this topic. To learn more about TRT and my online training, go here: https://trtmethod.com/youtube
My guest, Will Rogers, does incredible things with horses. He’s an inspiration to me and someone I have a great amount of respect for.Because our journeys have been so intertwined and we’ve learnt so much from each other, it felt very fitting to have Will on as my first guest. We talk about his adventure in the Swiss Alps, where he made a film of him doing liberty with his team. We also talk about working hard, having a vision and our mentors throughout this journey.
People notice that I never use spurs anymore. Therefore, one of the frequently asked questions I often receive is: ”What’s your opinion on spurs?”In this episode, I will tell you all about it.''It is not that I have never used spurs.''But my years of experience training lots of different horses have changed my opinion about spurs over the years. It’s all about the right mindset. For yourself, and for your horse.Curious about how I formed my opinion about spurs? Then check out the fifth episode of the TRT Podcast!
In this episode of the TRT Podcast, Tristan answers the question: Do you feel groundwork is accepted and do you think dressage riders understand the benefits?Groundwork has not always been a method that people knew existed. In the past, when few people were doing groundwork here in Europe, I did a lot of groundwork with my horses in preparation for international competitions. When I performed my exercises and groundwork patterns in the warm-up ring, people looked at me like I was a weirdo. I was even asked once by the ringmaster to stop doing the groundwork!Curious about my opinion on groundwork and how people think about it? Then check out episode 4 of the TRT Podcast now.

In this episode of TRT the podcast I cover a very influential horse I've had in my life: El Segundo.  It's interesting to look back into specific moments and horses in my life and reflect with the information and perspectives I have now.Which reveals clearly certain beliefs and inspirations that serve me now in my journey with horses.I share some important times in my life back in Australia and people that have helped and influenced me along the way. I talk about the culture of horse racing in Australia and introduce you to a horseman that has produced many champions in the heart of Melbourne for more than 7 decades. One of which I was blessed to have the opportunity to work with.
In the first episode of the TRT Podcast, Tristan Tucker takes you back in time to Australia in 2009, and tells about the Black Saturday bushfires. It is a very intense story about the bushfires, that had a great impact on people, nature, and animals, including horses. To learn more about Tristan and TRTmethod, visit https://www.trtmethod.com

I played with these concepts today, Sensation first, and found the information very helpful on an older horse for which people have just decided he is "stuck behind the leg", and that's who he is. Nope, not today... Thank you.
