For centuries, science and spirituality have been seen as opposites; one logical, the other mystical. But I believe they are two sides of the same coin, both pointing to the same truth: we are not just made of matter, we are the matter that consciousness expresses itself through. In this podcast), I explore how biology, physics, cosmology, and energy all weave together to create what we call the human experience. From the electrical current that powers every thought, to the quantum mechanics that explain manifestation, I break down why spirituality and science don’t contradict, they complete each other. If you’ve ever wondered how to make sense of both logic and intuition, or how to bridge the analytical and the mystical within yourself, this one’s for you. Ever wondered why a silly playground rhyme stuck in your head for decades? In this curious deep-dive, I explore the possible, and surprising origins of a chant most of us sang without a second thought. Could it really have roots in mid-century nutrition campaigns, did we use humour to diffuse and normalise this digestive reaction to foods commonly linked to lower classes and peasantry? We now know that all plants exist on a spectrum of toxicity due to defence proteins such as lectins and oxalates. Are these digestive responses normal or a sign of an imbalance?Let’s follow the thread and see where it leads.guthealth #digestivediscomfort #nutritionmyths #foodfacts #beantruths #carnivorediet #huntergatherer #ancestraleating #nutritionalhistory #foodculture Get full access to Nervous System Nut at nervoussystemnut.substack.com/subscribe

In #episode45 of Alternative Experience we revisit our recent discussion with Jenny Powers PhD regarding the way our hunter gatherer ancestors lived their lives. Since the show I have had an epiphany which I believe is very important for us all to consider. Watching the scenes across the UK last week really did show the darker side of our tribal nature, whether the scenes were sensationalised by the media as some have claimed (thats dark) or the riots really happened as they were portrayed (even darker) it will no doubt be used as an example of how our tribal nature means we are always destined for conflict but I want to tell you that is not true. There is another way for us to lean into that very same tribalism for the benefit of everyone. Something that Jenny said during the Podcast, about how humans had existed for millions of years in a co-operative fashion really got me thinking and I went down a deep rabbit hole researching the ‘known’ behaviours of our ancestors and its given me hope that we are not as doomed as we may have been led to believe.I hope you enjoy this episode, its part archaeological fact part thought exercise and I hope it gets you all thinking too. Please like, comment and share this episode out to your networks, it really helps me to defeat the evil algorithm. In #Episode43 of the podcast I sit down for an amazing conversation with the great and powerful Jenny Powers PhD to discuss her recently published book, On the Origin of Being. I simply cannot recommend the book highly enough, its packed full of insightful information about the way in which our hunter gatherer ancestors used to thrive in life, while at the same time emphasising just how badly us moderns humans have lost our way. Jenny’s writing style is captivating and, personally I could not put it down.If you are interested in human optimisation and you would like to understand just how easy it is to achieve, this really is the book, and podcast for you. It almost reads as an episode list of the podcast so to say that we were in alignment would be an understatement, yet our differing backgrounds really did allow us to discuss each area from our own perspective leading to a nice, natural and organic conversation. In fact, it was so organic, that I did not ask any of the questions that I prepared and we both forgot to discuss the wonderful co Author Luke Comer. So who is Jenny Powers PhD?Jenny is a mum, a writer, a scientist, and an athlete from Colorado. Her PhD is in Immunology, but she left academia to be a mum and to pursue a writing career. Up to that point, having only ever written scientific articles, the opportunity to research and write "On the Origin of Being" with Luke Comer felt like kismet. It allowed her scientific training and passion for writing to come together in so many ways. She learned so much about her own health and wellness on her journey of writing this book and continues to learn more every day with the connections she makes. She also writes middle grade novels and short stories. She lives in the Denver, Colorado area with her husband, two kids, and four-legged, furry friends. All of Jenny’s useful links are below including the Amazon link for the book, order your copy today either on Kindle or in physical form. It really is a captivating read as well as an amazing resource that will teach you valuable information about your natural innate biology.I hope you enjoy the podcast as much as we enjoyed recording it.Instagram Handle - @ontheoriginofbeing Book Websitehttps://www.ontheoriginofbeing.com/bio/Amazon Link - On the Origin of Beinghttps://www.amazon.com/dp/163299769X/ref=sr_1_2?crid=385T3R2L8EKVM&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.MSuPJM6Sf3syRhYQh06jHC3ERPXoY019NaJE5GWuZq4.BVCZ1ODn103JcXk6OEF3BMwJVQs2DmdyeXrGxYerqss&dib_tag=se&keywords=on+the+origin+of+being+comer&qid=1719261144&s=books&sprefix=on+the+origin+of+being+comer,stripbooks,101&sr=1-2 Get full access to Nervous System Nut at nervoussystemnut.substack.com/subscribe
