Sorry for the delay valued consumer! Matt moved and this is our first episode recording from different locations and Nick worked really hard on the audio so be nice. We're letting spooky season marinate a little longer this year with the brain child of horrors such as Silent Hill with Jacob's Ladder! To chase this down, we get Joey one step closer to his tattoo with Ernest Scared Stupid. Nick got a tooth pulled, Matt has officially moved out of state, and Joey watches Game of Thrones for the first time. The new episode is out now!
It's a cryer here at the studio. This is the last episode we will be recording in Nick's basement/altogether in the same room as Matthew is moving hours away and is effectively dead to all of us. On a lighter note, The Shining is our shot and it was Joey's first time watching! To chase this down we shatter the nostalgia barrier and endure the 2003 Haunted Mansion movie, which we didn't really address but def had some weird racist undertones. Nick and Matt share a psychic morning, Joey confirms what Ernest movies he's missing, and again there is no Matthew anymore. Spooky season still going strong in November!
Happy Halloween gang! Don't worry we still have one more spooky episode coming out but it'll be early November. Until then you're stuck with some WILD movies. For our shot, the boys watch their first Takashi Miike film, Ichi the Killer (Joey's new favorite movie). To chase this down we watched the first ever straight to home video horror film, Sledgehammer! Terror Vision PLEASE restock this. Nick defends the movie Him, we discuss PTA's hot streak, and we prep for Matt's departure from Virginia. Enjoy!
It's our favorite time of the year once again and to kick things off we thought it would be a great idea to have 6 people on the show (first time ever) and discuss some polarizing spooky szn movies. For our shot, Alli G had recommended the guys watch The Love Witch and to chase this down the Salem troupe wanted to reminisce a lil bit with Hocus Pocus! Nick and Molly p*rate a movie, Matt and Hannah discover a new haunting franchise, Alli G's gotta go to work, and was Joey right about Caught Stealing? Only one way to find out! The new episode is out now!
Hello Tylenol enjoyers! The world is in hell, so why not watch movies before the world ends? I'm typing this during the rapture btw, but for this week's episode (should it release) we watched Gerald Kargl's one hit wonder, Angst, and to chase this down we watched O Brother, Where Art Thou?. Nick and Matt talk about their Salem trip, Joey tells us about 30 movies in 30 days as well as the benefits of sports betting. Hope to see yall tomorrow! The new episode is out now
Just in time for spooky season, the boys have entered the Breeniverse! What horrors await? Only Nick knows because he's the only one who watched all of Neil Breen's movies in preparation for this episode. But we are not just talking about Neil Breen, no no, we are discussing the 2025 cinematic event of the year: Amazon's War of the Worlds starring Ice Cube. Movie of the year or worst movie of all time, you decide. The new episode is out now!
DON'T RIP MY SHIRT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. We are diving into the world of revenge films this week. To kick things off we watched Panos Cosmatos' Phantasmagorical masterpiece, Mandy. To chase this down, we traveled to a simpler time in cinema history and watched Steve Oedekerk's Kung Pow: Enter the Fist, which I assure you dear viewer aged like fine wine. Nick B returns as a guest to talk about mechs, we casually discuss the new War of the Worlds (for reasons) and we do a spoiler free review of Weapons since Nick B and Matt haven't seen it yet. The new episode is out now!
Slice of life. A challenging genre for some, a personal favorite for Joey. On this week's episode we watched Yasujirō Ozu's Tokyo Story and to chase this down we return to Noah Baumbach's filmography with The Squid and the Whale and Nick has a really hard time with it. The boys eat their words and saw Eddington, Matt begins his spooky season watches, and Joey defends Baumbach with his life. The new episode is out now!
It wasn't p*rn! Matt gave us a heart attack when he compared Faster, Pussycat to Bad Biology but luckily there were zero correlations between the two. Otherwise we'd be looking for a new cohost. To chase down the 1965 sexploitation flick, we watched Tarantino's self appointed "worst film" Deathproof (which is insane because Hateful 8 literally exists). Joey's brother bought a house, Nick announces some big McKinney news, and Matt expresses his love for Jaws. It's a fun one and we're all still friends. The new episode is out now!
привет! While I was editing the episode and reveling over The Sacrifice I kept kicking myself for pairing Stalker with EoE as The Sacrifice would have been a much better pairing, but I digress. Welcome to our first ever Bond episode! Spoiler alert, the connection between these two moves is Russia. For our shot we transcended time and space with Andrei Tarkovsky's final film, The Sacrifice. To chase this down we watched the 2nd (best) James Bond movie, From Russia With Love. The boys review a coworker's album, Nick shares his feelings on the NBA finals, and Joey defends Glen Powell. The new episode is out now!
TRIGGER WARNING: Happiness dives into some pretty shocking material so all 12 of you listening please be advised. On this week's episode, the fellas checked out the 1998 controversial masterpiece, Happiness. To chase down this bitter watch, we breached the David O Russell filmography with the mop movie, Joy! Matt is fed up with Kingdom Hearts, Nick forgot to watch movies, and Joey has converted us to baseball fans! Good luck and Godspeed soldiers, the new episode is out now!
What better way to hammer home that basketball season is over than by doing an entire basketball themed episode? I am in hell. On this week's episode, the gang watched Spike Lee's He Got Game. A film that solidifies that athletes do not make great actors. To chase this down, we finally got around to watching our official VFA and Gregg Turkington recommendation, Air Bud! Hoop time is over, back to our regularly scheduled programming.
Do you want to meet a ghost? Or maybe keep up with basketball? jk basketball season is over on this podcast (choke Haliburton choke). On this week's terror filled episode, the boys checked out Kyoshi Kirosawa's Pulse and to chase it down we checked out the 2006 "classic" Stay Alive. Vinegar Syndrome, you know what to do. Nick watched all of the Final Destination movies, Matt gets Hannah to watch the Star Wars prequels, and Joey invites us to a baseball game! It's a wholesome episode of friendship without the internet here on the pod :)
It's a Joey pick episode! I wanna apologize right off the top because half of this episode is just me and Joey commentating on the active Knicks v Celtics game (spoiler alert Knicks won and Celtics season is over). When we aren't being a sports pod, we were reviewing Agnes Varda's Cleo from 5 to 7 and then to chase this down we made the regrettable decision to watch Before Sunset. If that wasn't punishment enough we went ahead and finished the trilogy off with Before Midnight and we have LOTS to say about it. Go Knicks! The new episode is out now.
Buzz buzz cinephiles! On today's episode, the fellas tackle one of the Nic Cage's most controversial films (not the bees) The Wicker Man. To chase this down, Matt endured The Bee Movie for the first time in his life and it did not go well! Joey expresses confidence in the Lakers, Nick compares the original and 2006 Wicker Man, and Matt is watching Planet Earth. Bees are dying at an alarming rate! The new episode is out now
Welcome back! How's everyone enjoying the every other week format? Hope you like it because it's here to stay. This week, Nick made the boys endure an early Ozgood Perkins take on the classic Hansel and Gretel story. To chase this down, we all took Advil and watched Hoodwinked which aged like fine wine. Nick makes the fellas listen to a song that is definitely not sexual, Joey fills us in on what's going on in Basketball, and Matt tells you how we won a sweepstakes to see a screener of a new movie! Just wait til you hear what Matt picked for next week.
WE ARE BACK! Sorry we went MIA, things got a little hectic here but (as previously stated) we are SO back. Returning from our temporary hiatus, we got to watch one of Denis Villeneuve's earlier hits, Incendies. To chase this down we watch the definitive covid movie, Ride the Eagle. Drinking Buddies fans rejoice! Nick launches himself into the Gundam universe, Joey defends a new movie genre, and Matt reminds us that David Lynch never made a bad movie. Does Mickey 17 suck? Find out now!
We're kicking off the new schedule with quite a combo. For our shot, the boys finally checked out I Saw the Devil (we love you Old Boy) and to chase this down we checked out the famous On Cinema bit, Oh God starring George Burns. Which sparks the title debate. Which God are you worshipping? Matt tells us all about the block chain, Nick's fridge won't stop running, and Joey continues to make the best use of his Regal pass. We love Regal! The new episode is out now
JK thank god, but could you imagine? Oscar season is over and we are going over our thoughts and very important opinions on this year's turbulent award ceremony. It's controversial every year and this year was no different. From it's musical choice during the In Memoriam to the new record for longest acceptance speech in Oscar history, we discuss it all! So good to be done with Oscar season. The new episode is out now!
It's been quite a journey, but we are at the homestretch of Oscar season! For this week's shot, the fellas got to check out Sing Sing, a profoundly under-loved nomination. To chase this down, most of us complete our animation nominations with Memoir of a Snail. The fellas go over some Oscar predictions, Emilia Perez remains hated, and who will complete the entire Oscar list this year? Our last episode before the Oscars is out now!
