GC13 and David discuss Thai Feud and Adventures in Catsitting from Amphibia. You know, Ned would probably get along pretty well with Ronaldo. Maybe they already know each other, they definitely shop at the same store! Just… Someone try to get those brakes fixed, okay? That’s definitely unsafe. It’s just too bad that Domino wasn’t able to get her paws on Cousin Stanley. There’s no freeloading on her watch, no sir!
GC13 and David discuss Hop ‘Til You Drop and Turning Point from Amphibia. We get to start off with a very funny episode in Hop ‘Til You Drop, with Anne sending the Plantars to the jungle the mall for a trial by fire, in the tradition of Earth teens. Things don’t go so well, but it’s a very funny disaster. Then we get Turning Point and Sasha cements her face turn. Now she and Grime are ready to fight for the forces of good! Or maybe they’re just always on whichever side the king isn’t?
GC13 and David discuss The New Normal from Amphibia. So, Anne has spent two full seasons away from home, now she and the Plantars are on Earth and hanging out at the Boonchuy home. Unfortunately King Andreas is chilling out back on Amphibia with a portal that he can use to throw all of the terminators he wants at them. There’s no way they’re going to keep Cathy Coven out of his hands if he has that much power at his disposal.
GC13 and David discuss The Bear and the Rose from the second season of Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake. Now that’s how you tease a followup season. We have a whole new world presumably formed from several previously separate worlds, and it looks like Hunter and Fennel have joined the main cast. And Finn is even okay (thanks to Huntress Wizard and her mastery of green magic). Now he has an axe arm and is spending more time with his son Neptr.  How sweet!
GC13 and David discuss The Worm and His Orchard from the second season of Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake. When you have a song by Rebecca Sugar you know you’re in for a good time. Cake certainly likes what she sees, and even Fionna finds herself with the pep talk she needs. And the gods? Well if they want the Cosmic Owl, they’re going to have to catch him first. Huntress Wizard though? She has arrived.
GC13 and David discuss The Insect That Sang from the second season of Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake. Well it finally happened, Fionna lived up to the destruction she was wreaking against her friends in her dream in the first episode of the season. This Fionna, this is what we didn’t want to see. Your friends were trying to get money, Fionna, money to fund their dreams because living dreams is expensive.
GC13 and David discuss The Wolves Who Wandered from the second season of Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake. If men are from Mars, then Fionna and Fennel need to travel to Venus to rescue the ultimate source of love: DJ Flame. But not really. Thanks for that, Huntress. The broken tool has sought the flame though. Unfortunately she seeks the flame a little too hard, to the point where she really hurts Marshal. Ice cold, Fionna, ice cold.
GC13 and David discuss The Bird in the Clock from the second season of Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake. Finn’s theater of the mind is a very grim place: there are lots of things that want to kill him, and they’re quite good at it! Far better than Fionna is at stopping them, anyway. But in the real world the quest to save the Sweet Spot continues! Ms. Abadeer is even willing to help (and shows off her son’s gorgeous coffin lid!), but maybe Fifi should stay away from her…
GC13 and David discuss The Butterfly and the River from the second season of Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake. Fionna may not be doing too much on protagonist duty in this episode, but she’s a fantastic supporting character in the series B plot. And maybe if we kill the right butterflies we won’t have to worry about her being further demoted to villain’s henchman. Huntress Wizard is doing well on her protagonist’s journey though. She’s got some nice big antlers now, and has demonstrated her ability to memorize the taste of water. She may survive in Nightmare Butterfly World yet.
GC13 and David discuss The Cat Who Tipped the Box from the second season of Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake. In the apartment it’s eat or be eaten, and Huntress Wizard isn’t about to let herself be eaten. Once she gets a bit bigger (to the point where snails aren’t a threat to her anyway) she also finds herself in the perfect position to distract Fionna. Huntress, Fionna doesn’t need help getting distracted. So, why can’t Prismo grant wishes anymore? And how is he keeping this a secret from Scarab?
GC13 and David discuss The Lion of Embers from the second season of Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake. Finn is safely in the Candy Kingdom, though there are an awful lot of princess who want to give him the reverse Snow White treatment. Huntress could use some of that lip moisture though, she’s currently dying of thirst literally while the princesses do so figuratively. Thankfully the universe provided and she survives, now it’s going to get good.
GC13 and David discuss The Crocodile Who Bit a Log from the second season of Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake. This episode is definitely Huntress’s show, which we guess is good because she’s got herself together. (Well, after she got herself blown apart.) Green magic rules! Though it looks like there’s a lot more to green magic than she ever knew. In Fionna’s world she’s where she means to continue with most of the season: making trouble with the best of intentions! Thankfully Baby Finn survives her.
GC13 and David discuss The Hare and the Sprout from the second season of Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake. We’re back in the town Fionna saved last season. Times have been good for her Fionna and her friends. A little too good, actually… Oh well, let’s just enjoy everyone being sorry they fired Fionna in the past (even if she totally deserved it). Things are looking up. It’s just too bad that Finn is now grievously poisoned from the wound he walked off in season one. That might come back to haunt them…
GC13 and David discuss True Colors from Amphibia. Now that’s a season finale right there. Action, action, more action, and what’s this? Action! (And don’t forget a stellar acting job by Hopediah!) Well, Anne definitely is bad at choosing which king to trust. You’d think she’d have learned not to trust the one who’s already betrayed her, but it’s a good thing she’s a slow learned, or we wouldn’t have got to see that epic whoopin’. Now it’s on to Earth.
GC13 and David discuss The Dinner and Battle of the Bands from Amphibia. Well this is it, our last moment of episodic levity before the plot has to kick back in. For two glorious episodes we get to see Sasha and Grime defending themselves, excusing their previous actions because they only tried to murder everyone once. And it was glorious. Now it’s just time to hope that Sasha does the right thing. You probably already know whether she does or not, but it would be a waste of a fantastic guitar solo if she doesn’t, right?
GC13 and David discuss Bessie and MicroAngelo and The Third Temple from Amphibia. MicroAngelo really had a heartwarming episode, he’s finally a part of Bessie’s family! (And has definitely been with us ever since Polly bought him on their trip.) But Sasha and Grime have come back, and Sasha the Strong aced the temple like it was nothing—and Grime drinks enough Bog Grogs that he maintains his strength even while dehydrated. It’s just too bad that the things they’ve set in motion can’t be stopped.
GC13 and David discuss The Second Temple and Barrel’s Warhammer from Amphibia. Anne has managed to charge the second stone of the music box (mostly, anyway), and Sasha is on her way to overthrowing the corrupt newt monarchy and replacing it with a corrupt toad monarchy! While Sasha had to betray her new friends to get where she’s going, Anne is going about her quest the right way. Let’s see where this takes us.
GC13 and David discuss The Shut-In! from Amphibia in honor of the approach of Halloween. The Shut-In may definitely not be a holiday, but when kids are going door to door with a background of jack-o-lanterns (sorry, fear gourds!) it’s hard not to call it one, even if they’re asking for practical supplies instead of candy. We get three stories that definitely happened, plus our own spooky happening to Polly—now the entire family has a totally real story to tell on other Shut-In nights.
GC13 and David discuss Toad to Redemption and Maddie and Marcy from Amphibia. Mayor Toadstool may have come around to loving Wartwood awfully quickly, but who are we to complain? Frog dang it, he’s always been such a fun guy, even when he was ripping the entire town off. But now that Maddie has moved on to level-two spells, and has a great new bestie, who knows what she’ll be able to accomplish?
GC13 and David discuss New Wartwood and Friend or Frobo? from Amphibia. Did you know that the buildings in Wartwood are perfectly weighted to not sink into the swamp that the town is built on? That’s a fun fact, Marcy! Now let’s go ahead and add some imported marble facades and a solid gold clock, it will do great things for the atmosphere! And finally our wandering robot friend has revealed himself to his new family and has been given a name: Frobo. Welcome to the family, Iron Giant.
