The Taranaki Down Syndrome Gala is on today and recognises WORLD DOWN SYNDROME DAY that is also happening tomorrow. Tracey catches up with Ashleigh Downing, Community Liaison Co Ordinator for the group and hears all about the day they’ve planned. We also hear about the Stratford Shakespeare Festival that kicked off last night and how you can get along and support some of the great shows!
On today’s show, Tracey talks about the amazing talent we have across the rohe. With the opening of shows like the locally written Bean Scene at NP Repertory that opened this week, to the up and coming comedy The Pink Hammer at Hāwera Repertory to the Stratford Shakespeare Festival that opens later this month. We hear a variety of interviews from those involved and in the know.
Blue Petal has been named as Taranaki’s best kept secret. This boutique destination business is owned by Martina Murray, host of her podcast Herbal Wisdom and today Martina shares with Tracey her background as an engineer and how she was inspired to explore the power of herbs. We hear about the many workshops Blue Petal offers and what they have planned for the future.
March is Alzheimer's month and today Gill Lambert, the educator for Alzheimers Taranaki joins Tracey for an honest and open kōrero about this disease that affects thousands and thousands of Kiwi’s each year. Gill shares her person journey and explains what we can do to support better brain health, what the organisation does to support whānau in their journey and the services they offer.
