In this episode, we discuss the Blue Economy, its nuances, and the myriad opportunities it has in store for livelihood generation, climate action, and conservation of natural resources with Mr Souvik Bhattacharjya, Associate Director and Senior Fellow, TERI.
While the Blue Economy broadly speaks of sustainable use of marine resources to chart developmental pathways, no universal definition of the concept exists. Since the use of ocean resources and the way in which communities and countries engage with them is immensely varied, finding ways to understand the potential of the Blue Economy and its sustainable use is becoming increasingly critical, especially for developing countries.

In Episode Two of 'The Earth Pod from TERI', we discuss India’s G20 Presidency, the expectation of decisive outcomes, and deeper engagement on areas of energy transitions and sustainable development.
In December 2022, India assumed the Presidency of G20 from Indonesia. As a key intergovernmental forum that aims to seamlessly bring together 20 of the world’s developed as well as developing economies, the G20 is reported to account for about 80 per cent of global GDP, 75 per cent of global trade and 65 per cent of the world’s population.
India takes over the mantle of the forum for a year at a time when the world is fraught with war, economic downturns and energy crisis. In such a context, how can India steer the discourse on issues particularly pertinent to developing countries and the Global South?
Listen to Dr Vibha Dhawan, Director General, TERI, and Dr Shailly Kedia, Senior Fellow and Associate Director, TERI, share their expectations from India's G20 Presidency.
