Description

‘A beautiful thing’ podcast is inspired by the line that Jesus says to Mary of Bethany that, ‘She has done a beautiful thing for me’. (Mark 14:6) This podcast offers a fresh encounter with the women in Scripture through a dramatic re-telling of their story with some teaching and reflection. In some episodes there will be interviews with Christian women today and Christian artists who use beauty to share the gospel. My hope is that through the podcast, I will offer something beautiful to God and that Jesus will offer something beautiful to you the listener.

Mary, the mother of God of course is the final woman in my advent series, 'The women in Jesus' genealogy.' This is a re-release of this episode from the the first series 'The 12 women of the gospel'. Without Mary's 'yes', our Lord would not be born to us. So I invite you again to listen to the story of Mary this advent as we prepare our hearts for Christ to be born in anew in us. This is one of my favourite stories in the Advent series, 'The women in Jesus' genealogy' . Listen to the story of Ruth who shows immense loyalty to her mother in law Noami, leaving her land of Moab to journey back to Bethlehem, Judah, declaring; 'Your people will be my people and your God my God.' I invite you now two thousand years ago after the first coming of Christ to listen to how Ruth's story speaks to you this Advent. I hope that you enjoy second dramatic script in the Advent series 'The women in Jesus' genealogy'. We hear about the prostitute Rahab, who lived in Jericho one of the worst cities who refused God and was steeped in idolatry and sin. She hides the Israelite spies in her house before Israel took hold of Jericho, leading her to become accepted into the chosen people. I invite you now two thousand years after the first coming of Christ to listen to how Rahab's story speaks to you this Advent. Listen to the first dramatic script in the Advent series, 'The women in Jesus' genealogy.' We hear about Tamar in Genesis, 38, an unlikely woman who Jesus chooses to include in His lineage. She becomes not just any mother, but in her motherhood, God raises her, a widow from a Canaanite background ( an enemy of Israel) to become a mother of a royal line that eventually leads to King David, then Jesus. I invite you now two thousand years after the first coming of Christ to listen to how Tamar's story speaks to you this Advent.
