Sophie and I talk all sorts of things like her decision to incorporate over 100 pages of illustrations in the book, her momentary ban on TikTok for being too sexy with her husband, and what she loves best about working for herself as an author. In this episode I interview author of queer romances, Alison Cochrun, about her life, her writing, and her obsession with Bill Pullman and the 1995 movie, "When You Were Sleeping". She is the author of The Charm Offensive (inspired by shows like The Bachelor) and her most recent release Kiss Her Once For Me, a sapphic marriage-of-convenience to get an inheritance, fake-dating romance novel featuring a bisexual heroine who makes a deal with a guy and then realizes she's in love with his sister. What a hoot of an episode.

We also discuss the time I yelled at her in a Starbucks, whether romance novels are really unrealistic, damsels in distress, and how much we truly wouldn't like having three men sharing our life with us.

In this episode Mikayla and I discuss the book All He Wants for Christmas is a Fingerling which features a wolf shifter falling for...you guessed it, a potato shifter. It's wild. Brief discussions of...vore? I don't know. He eats part of the potato shifter as part of a mating ceremony. It's consensual. It's required. It's not gore or anything like that. In this episode I interview Vera Valentine who has co-authored the Holiday Hedonism novels and authored the series Carnal Cryptids, a reverse harem monster romance. As a self-proclaimed Wish Brand Chuck Tingle, authentic BDSM author, and safe sex toy advocate, she writes stories featuring that super weird dream you had that one time that didn't seem at all sexy and...makes it sexy. Some of her stories include: a divorced menopausal woman getting laid in the back of a van by three vamps, Thanksgiving leftovers come to life to provide pleasure, and kinky balloon animal shifts.

Welcome to the very first episode of the Romantically Inclined Podcast where I try to convince you that I'm worth listening to with so-so audio quality and embarrassing stories from my past.
