Steve Lazarus is a multifaceted individual whose life journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. A retired FBI Special Agent and United States Air Force veteran, Steve has left an indelible mark on both national security and literature.During the first half of his illustrious FBI career, Steve was stationed in the heart of the Atlanta, Georgia metropolitan area, where he fearlessly confronted domestic terrorists, narcotics trafficking organizations, and violent street gangs. It was amidst these trials that he encountered a case that would serve as the catalyst for his debut novel, "Call Me Sonny." In 1998, facing a grave threat to public safety, Steve apprehended a violent felon who intended to unleash a homemade biological weapon of mass destruction upon the Atlanta subway system. Despite the perilous nature of the situation, Steve successfully brought the perpetrator to justice, ensuring that the city remained safe. However, the danger did not end there, as the convicted felon, in a chilling twist, threatened retaliation against Steve and his loved ones before being incarcerated. "Call Me Sonny" delves into the gripping narrative of what might happen if these threats were to materialize from behind prison walls, weaving a tale of suspense and intrigue.Transitioning to the latter half of his FBI tenure, Steve immersed himself in the intricate world of explosives as a seasoned bomb technician. His expertise led him on numerous deployments to conflict zones such as Afghanistan, Iraq, and Kuwait, where he meticulously investigated terrorist bombings as part of the Global War on Terror. In 2013, Steve played a pivotal role in the aftermath of the tragic Boston Marathon bombing, leading a team of dedicated specialists in the arduous task of evidence recovery and bomb analysis. His unwavering commitment to safeguarding national security culminated in his tenure with the Bureau's prestigious Render Safe Unit in Quantico, Virginia. Here, Steve and his elite team of hazardous device specialists undertook one of the FBI's most perilous missions: the disassembly of improvised nuclear weapons.Following his distinguished career with the FBI, Steve embarked on a new chapter, lending his expertise to the Emirati national security service in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. There, he shared his wealth of knowledge with aspiring security professionals, leaving an indelible impact on the next generation of defenders. Today, Steve resides in the serene landscapes of the South Carolina low country alongside his beloved wife Susan and their cherished canine companion, Aspen.
