This is a running tip I use while running on roads. This is more of a tip for curves or blind spots on roads. Straight stretches not so much. It will keep you safer and allow you to be seen sooner and you to see traffic sooner. It gives you and a driver more time to react. Thus making you safe while running. Its a pretty simple technique. While running on roads take a half step or when possible a full step off of the edge of the road where you normally would run, towards the white line if not over it. This will give that extra second of visibility, which can make all the difference. If no white line do the same thing just take that extra step over towards middle of road from where you'd normally be running. Once you can see a car coming and you can tell they see you then you move back to where you normally would run. Will say right off the bat the book is hugely disappointing and a waste of time. There is no substance in the book at all that will improve a person's life. I heard him on Cam Hanes' podcast where he sounded interesting, so I wanted to listen to it. Now I know it was published four plus years ago before he had done some amazing races and things, and from what he said, changed his life, but this book does not really add anything to that.It's actually very narcissistic in nature on how he got started in the nightclub life, how he moved up the ranks, his connections, the girls he slept with (or dated or a similar phrase, as "banged" is very informal and potentially offensive), drug and alcohol use, etc. The last 45 minutes of it is actually where he talks about turning his life around and started to get into running, which is what actually intrigued me about him. Besides being 50% about his nightclub life, the other 40% was about telling his side of the story about a woman who died that people think he was directly involved with. The last 10% at most was him changing his life.It was more to me about bragging than anything else, making him seem cool and interesting. I will say Eli does seem like he is a strong-minded individual and achieves what he sets out to do. I do wish him the best. I also hope he continues down the right path, makes good decisions, and continues to crush his goals and races, but I really wish I didn't waste time on the book. He easily could have told the nightclub life and his side of the story in 10 minutes.Also really didn't like the talking between chapters between Eli and the narrator. Sweat For Vets 10k 1st overallGot 1st overall and king of the mountain (1st top top powerline)Was a awesome day.Felt spectacular today. I could have dropped 3-4 mins off time if i needed to. Wasnt pushed. Started little hotter then wanted to but once we hit climb took over. The course this year was 15-20% harder then previous years. The reason is the powerline had the rocks all scabuttled. So you couldnt find a path to actually run up it so it was way slower then last year where there was a path you could actually run. Same with the technical downhill all the rocks were like pointed up. Im not even exaggerating, ask others who ran. You literally had run on the tops of the pointed rocks to go down on the downhill. So it was way slower as well. I powered up the hill. Made myself a couple min lead easily. Id look back and see no one. I also as power walked up tucked in close to all grass and hunched over so noone could see me. So little sneaky. But yea made to top with at least 2 min lead if not 3 or 4. Lost a ton on the downhill since i was not willing risk falling and getting hurt. Plus again couldnt run it as much as years past. Once popped out bottom of technical downhill all of a sudden I got a huge speed burst and body literally told me "lets go". I took off fast and hard and was running 6s rest of way. I was flying and felt great. It was magical. Once I hit road I looked back no one in sight. At turn around i had solid 2 min lead. I dropped 6:00-605 rest of race. And i felt could have went faster then that but felt so comfortably easy to hit that pace. Came in with like 4 min lead. It was a great day. Though I won still easily as I said, could dropped few more mins off time easily. So happy to finally win the 10k. Couple years ago I got sent wrong way while I was in lead by minutes and ended up losing. Broke into the 17🥒.Pulled it off. Nice chilly morning. The weather was just warm enough where could run in sleeveless shirt. This chilly temp and air allowed more fuel to get into lungs. Because the cold air was compressed and expanded once inside lungs giving a turbo speed boost. I took advantage of it. Also pushed hard way out. Drafted for first .4 before taking lead and taking over from there. Had 34 seconds at turn. Kept pushing not looking back. About 2.6 looked back to see anyone behind. Kept myself in control and not redlined. Did Feel in chest heart some middle race. After seeing lead i had about 2.8 finally relaxed. Might have lost 10 seconds total at end and maybe 5-10 beginning of race. Super happy with time. Though id like to have not have had to run as hard as I did to save for tomrrow. #31 Kimberly Stewart- Orienteering What Exactly Is ItHad a very informative chat with my friend Kimberly about Orienteering. She participats in events and recently directed her 1st ever Orienteering event. I actually stopped over to Yellow Creek State Park in PA where she held the event. I've been interested in doing an event so wanted to see things first hand. Then having Kimberly on answered some questions I had. Very informative for those looking to get into the sport. What makes it fun is you get to explore the woods and be taken to exciting places. The events are super cheap with most being cheaper then a single movie ticket that the whole family participats with for that single ticket price. I'd describe it as your very own scavenger hunt. Because you decide which way your want to go to get to where you need to be. Also dont need any fancy equipment. All you need is a compass and be able to read a map which they will teach you how to use for free. Really to much information to write about. End of the Road 4 miler finished 1st Overall. Also new course record. Me and 2nd smashed previous record. Was a mixed bag. Felt super good when race actually started took off right away lead from start to finish. But it was alot closer in the end then id like to admit. It be easier to explain in video recap. I didnt look back the whole way out had no idea what was happening g behind. Though hoped for a minute or more lead at turn that was not the case maybe had 10-15 at most so hard to tell. Cause things happened so quick. So yea couldn't play around. Tried to keep hammering way back. Thought the very slight downhill would help me run faster. But no, it did not. Think I was fatigued from Fridays high miles then racing yesterday plus overeating. It finally was setting in on the way back. But I couldn't relax since I didnt have that big of a lead. Kept pushing. Both ways occasionally I felt myself slowing down so had force myself lean forward and get going. Around the 3 mile marker in tunnel was starting feel that gag feeling creeping up. Also tried control breathing was breathing too much thru mouth and not nose. Need to calm down breathing and try slow heart rate. Was not working. When popped out tunnel id say had 10 seconds maybe 15 which would have been a streych again to hard tell because i didnt look at watch when popped out likeninshould have so i could get a estimate like normally would. But was gagging. Didn't think id hang on. Gave it all in had for short period. Not sure when heart hit 194 id have dive in morebgarmin said hit 202. But that's insane for me. That's death level for me. Anyway kept going knowing 2nd was right behind me. Started gag more and knew was gonna puke. Did like 3 times from coming out tunnel to finsih. I looked back once as I was puking and said fuck it. No stopping if want to win. So got some puke on shorts and shirt cause I couldnt even adjust form to stay ahead. Somehow recovered just enough to pull it out with 2nd like 5ish seconds behind me. He even said that when he saw look back and puke he thought I was done. But I got it and the record and win. Fort Days 5k 1st Overall 18:07. One of my best times if not my actual best time ever for the race. Condotions were perfect. I have won it a couple times before. I felt strong today. My legs felt good and my form was perfect. Just felt so fluid. Lead from start to finish. Could have knocked a minute off. Took the inclines super easy. Actually never pushed hard whole race. Super stoked about this. Im the 1st person ever to win all 3 distances. Marathon, 15 miler and 5k. Ill hang my hat on that achievement. Anyway this year obviously I did the 15 miler. Felt really good. Was below 50° before the start. So got some medical gloves from the fireman. Started off little slow as I warmed up. Stayed in 2nd for 1st 3ish miles. Had to pee so once we gapped feild i stopped snd peed then took off. Like 4 mile i finally decided take over lead since was warmed up finally. From there just tried run smoothly. Never redlined but dod push pace and made sure to stay under 7 min pace, the mile si was over ot because it was a aodstatipn mile and i had to walk some as i put powder in bottle. Goal was to finish in 1:45 or less sp accomplished that on top of winning the race. Do have some blisters on achielies to take care of. Wore my old endorphins pros so thats why, kept my good ones for actual roads. So yea happy with how it went. Laurel Highlands Fall Classic 50k and 50k Relay recap:Took 1st Overall in both races. Was able to do the relay if I did the first leg. Originally was only doing the relay but decided a couple days before to sign up for the 50k as well. Finished the 50k in 4:58:14Ran under my Only Eye Athletics name, our team time was 4:24:25. Goals for the day were to win the relay 1st and foremost then win the 50k, and then finish under 5 hours, not get hurt. All achieved. While I burned up some trying get team a good lead may have paid for it later but was absolutely worth it. I lead from the start and never relequinished my 50k lead. I also held the relay lead for team the whole time. Got passed at like like mile 19 in and aid station 62 by relay teams. Even before hitting mile 1 noone was in sight behind me. I was flying and was locked in. Did fall at least 6 times. Blew top of shoe out when I tripped. At relay exchange having to stop to refuel which was my plan beforehand killed momentum  cause I had to change some things out i got unlocked in. Right around mile marker 60 I got light headed, stomach was upset and I was about to pass out. I somehow made it to mile 62 aid station took some ginger ale and immediatly starting puking it up. Spent maybe 5 mins at most there. Took more ginger ale and a tums. I probaly could have been pulled or dropped when 1st came in but when they asked If I needed seat I said no I gotta keep moving. I recovered on trail. Though legs were beat because of stopping to long at aid station somehow managed to stay ahead. I was on a 4:30 pace most of the day and my heart rate was maxed out also most of the day. So body got beat up pretty good. But pulled it off while time was slower then should have been but I'll take it all things taken i to account. Im still not where I was or can be. But im getting very close to it, and once I get there, im only gonna get better then I ever was.
