This week, Eddie and Gary share their thoughts after the news that Ourea Events have ceased trading, a truly desperate situation for everyone involved. Gary felt the love with the Punk Panthers. Spoiler, he absolutly loved his time on the trails around Otley. The coaches tackle a triple‑whammy question from a listener down under: how to run downhill faster, coping with the heat, and dealing with grumpy knees. Our community brings the joy as always, with an inspirational Strava Club update, ta...
This week we hand the mic to Paul Booth, Sports and Performance Nutritionist and Lead Nutritionist for the Salomon International Team. Paul has played a huge role in the success of elite trail runners like Ruth Croft and Tom Evans, both of whom stormed to victory at the 2025 UTMB. He’s an academic, yes, but thankfully he speaks human. Even we managed to take on board some brilliant, practical advice to make training and racing a little kinder on the gut. We loved this chat, and if you’re some...
This week we have another jam packed Tea & Trails podcast. First up we catch up with Eddie & Gary and the spill the beans on another week of training. Is it more tears of fun times on the trails? The coaches then dive into the sensitive topic of running while grieving a loved one, before Eddie and Gary share some of the tips and tricks that help them juggle family, work, and training. And finally, you could be in with a chance of winning a waterproof jacket, thanks to our friends at H...
This week we’re welcoming back a familiar face, the brilliant Fiona Horsfield. Fresh off her incredible second‑place finish at the 2026 Winter Spine Race, Fiona joins us to unpack her 112‑hour epic journey up Britain’s most brutal trail. Think horrendous weather, hallucinations, and an unwavering determination to just keep moving forward. And because she also won last year’s Northern Traverse, we couldn’t resist picking her brain for some hard‑earned wisdom ahead of this year’s race. Links to...
More Northern Traverse training, and Gary is starting to feel the strain. The trails are stunning enough to make the miles drift by, but the sheer volume—and the constant need to stay upright, are beginning to take their toll. Our coaches chip in with some wisdom on running when you’re a new parent (spoiler: sleep is a luxury, snacks are a currency). Our Strava club members continue to be inspiring, and we chat about how to nail the taper before our A‑race. And finally, you could be in with a...
This week’s guest is Antony “Twig” Rose, in 2025, Twig completed the Centurion 100‑mile Slam and the Centurion Winter Downs 100, stacking up an astonishing five 100‑mile races in a single year. He achieved all of it while living with Parkinson’s disease. A dedicated runner who refuses to let his diagnosis set the boundaries of his life, Twig brings honesty, humour, and determination to every mile and why showing up matters more than ever. Another week closer to the 2026 Northern Traverse, and Eddie and Gary are deep in the trenches of training, some days fun times, some days sad times, all of it inching them forward. Listeners are in the thick of their own big‑race prep too, including one brave soul wondering whether you can smash a road marathon and then step up to an ultra. Winter bugs are everywhere as well, and everyone seems to be sniffling through their long runs. When should you ease off, and when is it fine to crack on...
This week we catch up with The North Face athlete, Jon Albon, one of the most versatile and consistent endurance athletes on the planet. We look back on his huge 2025 season, dig into what he’s building toward in 2026, and then take a deep dive into Gary’s new best friend: The Albon App… or Ascend, as it’s now known after the recent rebrand. Jon brings his trademark clarity & humility. Whether you’re a mountain runner, an OCR die‑hard, or just someone who loves hearing from athletes who t...
This week on the Tea & Trails Podcast, the team dive into their weekly highs and lows as the Northern Traverse edges ever closer. Today’s guest is in the midst of an extraordinary adventure: the Run Around Great Britain challenge, a human‑powered loop of the entire coastline. It’s part endurance feat and part love letter to the country. We catch up with Megan Boxall 117 days into her journey. She talks us through the mishaps, the coastlines, the kindness of strangers, and the moments that make big adventures feel deeply human. She’s well over halfway now, but still so much to explore. In this episode, we sit down with HOKA athlete Gemma Hillier‑Moses, fresh off her dominant win at the 2026 Arc of Attrition 50 by UTMB, a performance built on speed, strength, and grit across those wild, muddy coastal trails. Gemma’s energy is infectious! This conversation is full of honesty, humour, and proper inspiration as she opens up about the highs and lows of her journey so far, what she’s learned along the way, and what’s brewing for the rest of 2026 and beyond. Thanks to Precision ...
What a crammed week it’s been! The National Running Show was an absolute blast, and it was brilliant meeting so many listeners in person. Huge kudos to the Altra 13 Valleys team for pulling it all together. Meanwhile, Gary had his own bit of drama to deal with as he toed the line at the Hardmoors Saltburn Trails Marathon. Could he outrun his 2014 self, and did he manage to bag that V50 win? Our coaches are on hand with some much‑needed footwear wisdom, and we share our top tip for taking on a...
Jade Barrett has just pulled off something no one else has ever managed, completing the entire Centurion Running calendar in a single year. Every. Single. Event. And because that apparently wasn’t quite enough, she also squeezed in the Arc of Attrition for good measure! In our chat, we dive into the highs, the lows, the moments that nearly broke her, and the ones that reminded her exactly why she does this. And with her 2026 already looking absolutely packed, you’ll be seeing her on the start...
This week the hosts spill the beans on their epic Northern Traverse recces. From the Lakeland mountains to the Dales, the Moors, and the sea, the Northern Traverse really does have it all. We also break down how we set our recces up for success, so you can get the most out of yours. If our tales of fun on the trails get your juices flowing, don’t forget that Patreons receive 10% off the Northern Traverse and all Ourea Events races. And the big question keeps coming up, how do you train for th...

If you’ve ever finished a long run w...
This week on the Tea & Trails Podcast, Eddie and Gary share the tips and tricks that keep them going when training and racing get tough. There’s a Lakeland 100–themed Brew With the Coaches question, plus an update on how their own training is shaping up as the Northern Traverse draws closer. Spoiler: it features a severed head, exploding bridges, a visit to Greg’s Hut, and an unreasonable number of long runs. Thanks to Fenix Light UK, Voom & Altra 13 Valleys for supporting our January...
Anthony’s running journey began back in 2007 while he was working in IT. Unhappy with his weight, he laced up for a change, and just two months later he was on the start line of his first 10K. By 2009 he’d run his first marathon, and by 2011 he was fully immersed in the world of ultrarunning. Years of racing and experimenting with his own fuelling strategies sparked a deeper interest in sports nutrition. Anthony went on to earn an Advanced Diploma in Nutrition and Weight Management, followed ...

Back in December 2025, Libby Clark stepped up to the start line of the Centurion Winter Downs 200, a 200‑mile Ultra Marathon. Only nine women stood on that start line. Nine! Seventy‑five hours, sixteen minutes, and twenty‑seven seconds later, she crossed that finish line to claim a joint second place finish with Jemma Lyons.
