After the usual festive period akl ghost town we're back in full effect! It's always nice to have the office open and buzzing when I hit the studio. We started with some b2b David Holmes brilliance incl. what is now a bonafied bFM banger remix by Andrew Weatherall (RIP). As per we travelled the world touching down in  São Paulo with Ana CMP, Los Angeles via Jeffrey Paradise, London (?) via NoTenshun and of course plenty of aces from Aotearoa!
My first show of 2026 was a trip through the ages. With our usual disregard for genre boundaries we kicked off with one of my absolute favourite artists, The Space Lady! - shouts to Monday Drive host Matthew Crawley for introducing me to her wonderful world many years ago. Stepping up the bpm we touched back down to dancefloor earth with Marie Davidson, Austin Ato & Dave Giles II and Secret Soul Society, ramping it up with Vanessa Worm and the whistling prowess of BEJENEC. Yes, we have a whistling choon!!!
Part three of my 2025 faves featured Gavsborg & ItA, TUSH, TORIBIO & musclecars, Esaia and Yeza x Rorystonelove with new releases that are forever archived as bFM bangers, as well as some stellar reissues from the likes of Ambient Warrior and Kim Mulligan. And plenty more of course!
Running through more 2025 faves this week, we selected new classics from KongDuctor, RSD, Merca Bae, DJ Nardo & DJ Elvis, YAOB, EMILIE and Hallelujah Picassos. That's just a taste. A big thanks to the listeners who gifted us some wonderful messages. bFM is yours and I love being part of that:)
This week's show featured some of my favourite releases of 2025 alongside some bFM bangers, new and old. Froid Dub, Jimi Tenor, Romero Bros, The CUSP, Smackos & Dim Garden and Rude Boy Rupert were just some of the artists we played. Part 2 of my 2025 faves will air next week,
In the midst of some scorcher days I thought I'd bring some laid back beach vibes to the studio, before we stepped it up as per. Mori Ra, Drifting Clouds, DJ Spinna and Roland Clark, NoTenshun feat. Sandy Mill and Alphabethead all featured, and we dipped into the bFM faves archive playing Fuemana (RIP), James Pants and Gang Starr to name just a few.
We eased on in to the show today with tunes from El Remolón, Helviofox, Roger Rönning and Ana CMP before stepping up the beats per minute. After receiving some constructive criticism about "not playing enough Reggae and / or Dub" we corrected the ship and banged out some heavy speaker shatterers from Froid Dub, RSD, Calibre & DRS and O.B.F & Biga*Ranx & Sr Wilson. Heat to match the humidity!
Traveling through space and time we played a heap of faves from here, there and everywhere. Payfone, Brian Jackson & Masters At Work, Joshua Idehen, Dudley Benson & Princess Chelsea, TUSH and Italianz (w/a cover of an Oz classic) all featured.
We had the honour of premiering a beautiful new recording from Dudley Benson on today's show, ahead of the 7" release on Thursday. We also aired a couple from the latest release out of the always great Duppy Gun stable and new faves from Zorlock Compressor and Elijah Minnelli.
This was a special show for me, my last with top dawg Aneeka Moheed as my boss. Still coming back down to earth after last week's stellar performances by Exploding Rainbow Orchestra, I aired a bunch of faves I'd selected for my sets as their welcome deej. I also asked ace selector Aneeka to play a couple tunes toward the end of the show. Of course, she only picks the best!
Joshua Worthington-Church from Exploding Rainbow Orchestra joined us in the studio to chat about their performances of Songbook Volume 4 this week. We played HINA, Reb Fountain and Dam Native as a wee taster of the incredible artists participating in this year's iteration. We featured fellow ERO vocalist Crystal Chen a little later and faves from Suzanne Kraft, RSD, Roger Robinson received deserved airtime as well.

As per usual we played faves old and new on this episode, incl. Modniy, Heavy Chest, Charlie Chimi, Persian and The Vision to name just a few. Some students are on holiday this week so we had Rukiya from Lynfield College as a studio guest and she selected some classics from Sonic Youth, Cibo Matto, Childish Gambino and Portishead. The force is strong in this one.
This episode featured heat from the always fire EquiknoxxMusic, Crook Decker, Saint Etienne (forever premiere league players), TORIBIO & musclecars and a couple off the brilliant new EP from Naarm's Proto Exotica crew.
To celebrate Te Wiki o te Reo Māori we played a bunch of tangata whenua faves as well as some solid Ngāti Pākehā allies. Mokotron, MĀ & WYNONA, Cave Circles, Dudley Benson, Droneeater and Geneva AM are just some of the local treasures we highlighted. As always, Toitū Te Tiriti.
We kicked off in a dub stylee but in our usual no rules, no boundaries manner we chopped and changed the bpm's. No rest for the wicked. RSD, High Salute, Daniel Monaco and Tribilin Sound all featured.
We welcomed spring with a bunch of new faves. XEXA , Roberto Lodola, James Massiah & Lord Tusk, DJ Spinna and Roland Clark and Meduna all featured.
From lo-fi to hi-fi, we have you covered on this episode. Featured faves incl. Donna Regina, The Space Lady, Keanu Nelson, Alien Trackers and Roger Rönning to name just a few.
