A new suite of nine contemporary classical compositions by Scottish composer Euan Stevenson and performed by RSNO Principals Katherine Bryan and Betsy Taylor, Sound Tracks is inspired by the people, places and landmarks surrounding Falkirk, the composer’s town of birth. To celebrate the release of Sound Tracks, in this, Stevenson's first podcast series, the composer previews the music, explores some of the stories behind each of the nine compositions, visits the places that inspired his new work- and meets some of the people who’ve played a pivotal role in his musical journey so far. Commissioned by Classic Music Live! Falkirk (CMLF) and Chamber Music Scotland, Sound Tracks was premiered live in Falkirk in 2022 and studio recordings of the new compositions are now set for release. Blending classical, jazz and folk traditions, Sound Tracks is a celebration of the rich history and rebirth of the Falkirk area in the form of a musical love letter from the composer to his home town. Global interest in the trio was sparked when Classic FM featured a video of Stevenson’s arrangement of the hymn ‘O Come, O Come Emmanuel and UK broadcasters have been quick to support the trio’s subsequent festive releases. Live performances are being scheduled for 2023.
