Description

This podcast series investigates the likely harm and benefit of a monopolized corporation creating its own currency. Diem was supposed to be a cryptocurrency intended to provide a cost-effective, fast, and safe way for people to send and receive money; however, when the project was revealed to the public in 2019, Facebook immediately received intense scrutiny from both the general public and the US government. This was provoked by Facebook's history of misusing user data, and distaste at the idea of a corporation acting as a privatized global central bank.
