This week we finally come back to our Origins series and Hudson talks about the most powerful Native American tribe in American history, the Comanche. The Comanche commanded the Great Plains, conquering from horseback both man and bison. They brought European empires to a standstill, terrorized Mexico, brutalized the American West, and traded horse herds so large they impacted the global economy. The Comanche were feared for their violence which was reciprocated mainly by the Texas Rangers, who were founded to combat the Comanche raiders. The Comanche are embedded in American history and responsible for the evening redness of the west. ---This episode is sponsored by J.D. Adams Fly Fishing Outfitters in Oklahoma City. They are actively building community within Oklahoma in an attempt to help every fly fisherman become more successful. They are ready and able to answer any question you might have about where to go, how to fly fish, or what flies to use. They offer a number of both freshwater and saltwater destinations around the world. They are open Monday-Saturday 10-6. One of our good friends and former podcast guests Noah Edwards is selling beef from their farm in SW Oklahoma. Their cows are grass-fed on a beautiful farm without herbicides or pesticides on their pastures. Then they are grain finished on a pasture with free choice of grain. This gives them an incredible taste and wonderful marbling without the traditional feedlot atmosphere. The beef is butchered in a USDA inspected facility and it is unbelievably good. Hudson and Glen cover a variety of topics this week and luckily Glen didn’t eat any cupcakes while recording. Fishing serial killer case cracked in the eastern United States. Glen went fishing at Skiatook and got some first hand experience using live scope and had a cool encounter on the water. A new state record bass was caught in Tennessee. How much money would you spend on a bobcat pelt? Is the fur trade gold rush upon us? All this and more on this weeks episode of the OOAP. Thanks for listening!---This episode is sponsored by J.D. Hudson’s audio is absolutely horrible and we apologize. It has been remedied. Glen and Hudson are joined by longtime friend, returning guest, and seasoned turkey hunter Tate Turner. This one’s all about chasing thunder chickens. We cover all the basics and try to answer any questions you may have! Where do you turkey hunt? When can/should you go? Glen and Hudson get together this week for a normal length episode. Hurray! We talk about the annual Blue River Cleanup that just happened with JD Adams. Glen almost got caught up napping in the sunshine. Some hard worker he is. We preview some guests, go through some breathing techniques, plans for the upcoming fishing and turkey seasons, and much more this week on the OOAP. This was supposed to go up yesterday but no one reminded us to post it. How are we supposed to remember to take care of our own responsibilities?!?! Glen and Hudson are joined by a legend on this pod. His existence has been whispered about, speculated, investigated, and now affirmated (not a word). Jesse Kozij AKA Carrot Top AKA The Alberta Alpha. Jesse was born and raised in northern Alberta where he grew up hunting and fishing. We try and talk all things Canada wilderness. How many black bears are up there? What is some Canadian folklore? We learn about the amazing camp he works for, how the gun situation is up there, the worsening grizzly attacks, and just about Canadian life in general. We’re so happy Jesse took the time to join us this week and we hope you all enjoy!---This episode is sponsored by J.D. Adams Fly Fishing Outfitters in Oklahoma City. Glen and Hudson ripping in the studio this week. We talk Hudson’s baffling ghost like complexion and it’s an issue. Glen had a relapse and he’s not proud of it. Is there such thing as Thunder fan guilt? Many things to do, Bob Goff philosophy, trout fishing, cold weather, and protecting the Amazon all on this weeks episode of OOAP. ---This episode is sponsored by J.D. Glen and Hudson are joined by friends of the podcast Noah Edwards and Chisum Henry to talk all things coon hunting! What dogs are best? How do the dogs work for the hunters? Competitive coon hunting, rogue black bears, vet school, dragging Noah out of bed for a freezing duck hunt, and much more on this weeks episode of OOAP! Hudson is joined by Bryton Schmitt to just have a good old fashioned sports talk. In Ancient Greece, the thinkers and philosophers would meet in the courtyards and discuss all manners of reality. In the modern America, guys who try to think talk about all facets of sports into the abyss of online podcasting. How the stories affect us, what makes someone great, and try and predict the outcomes of some of the biggest contests in the world. Is Denver cooked? Is Indiana the definition of a hard nosed ball club? How much do you love to see the guys in the trenches get the job done? All that and more on this episode of sports talk. Hudson and Glen are in the studio ripping a solo. Hunting season is winding down with only a few days left of deer and waterfowl. What makes waterfowl not want/need to migrate? Is Little Debbie a viable source of forage? Are we actually gonna fish as much as we want? And finally the famed theme has been decided for 2026. If you like poems Hudson reads a good one.
