Tine and Taylor are joined by Tine's mentor and former Supervisor in University of South Carolina Athletics Mental Health, Dr. Rhea Merck.  Rhea has been working with student athletes at USC for nearly a decade.  She talks about what is unique in working with this population, challenges they face, and how they respond.  Prior to Athletics, Rhea studied and worked in systems theory, specifically marriage & family, which interestingly she still calls upon in her current role.  Tine and Taylor discuss with Rhea the importance of understanding how family and environmental roles impact us throughout our life.  Rhea breaks down how family systems theory looks at all of the 'parts' of an individual rather than putting them in a box or judging them based on certain actions or behaviors.  Thank you for listening to The Constant Quest Podcast with Tine and Taylor. Tine and Taylor held the inaugural Advance, and they are here on this episode to talk all about it!  The Advance in community, connection, and growth was held in the mountains of north Georgia, and is an event created to allow men a space of openness, vulnerability, rest, and fun.  The naming of the event came from a time each year Tine spends along in the mountains, where he engages in nature, reflects on the past year, and plans for the upcoming year.  He calls that time The Advance in Solitude.  Co-hosts Tine and Taylor talk about what went well, what they would like to build upon, and how it felt for them before, during, and after.  They also zoom out and discuss the larger topic of men's mental health, the challenges they face today, and the importance of creating spaces like the Advance to continue to redefine what being a healthy, successful man can look like.   Thank you for listening to The Constant Quest Podcast with Tine and Taylor.
