In this episode, we sit down with Alina Kolar of HouseEurope! and Jesper Eis, Director of OBEL.OBEL is a foundation that recognises and rewards architecture's potential to act as a tangible agent of change. This year, the OBEL Award went to HouseEurope!, a citizen-led initiative advocating for a radical shift in Europe's housing culture, calling for renovation over demolition to fight speculation, displacement, and carbon emissions.Together, we discuss how OBEL is spotlighting architecture's political agency, and how HouseEurope! is mobilizing citizens across the EU to turn housing activism into legislation.Link to HouseEurope!'s ECI: https://eci.ec.europa.eu/052/public/#/screen/home__Keep Up the Good Work. I speak with Alan Browne — CEO and co-founder of Soarvo — a company using AI and geospatial analytics to help national infrastructure providers like Highways UK detect risks and prevent failures across roads, energy systems, and urban networks. Alan discusses how predictive technologies can create more resilient, equitable, and sustainable cities. He offers an insider’s perspective on bringing innovation into risk-averse public-sector environments, shares real-world examples of Soarvo’s work, and reflects on the leadership mindset needed to foster innovation within teams. Finally, Alan looks ahead at what's next for AI and geospatial analytics — and why smarter infrastructure is key to future-proofing our cities. __Keep Up the Good Work. روابط :مشروع التخرجhttps://awards.re-thinkingthefuture.com/babylonian-civilization-omaima-altaee/صفحة الفيس بوكhttps://www.facebook.com/share/1D1pGzQsvV/LinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/omaima-al-taee-4b664a145/Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/omaima.altaee?igsh=MXc1dms5eDd3djdqcw==Researchgatehttps://www.researchgate.net/profile/Omaima-Al-Taee__Keep Up the Good Work. Mohammad Hammash & Filip Momikj, Founders of Stripping ArchitectureWe explore what it means to “strip architecture” down to its essentials and challenge dominant urban design paradigms. With activist undertones, artistic experimentation, and sharp critique, Mohammad and Filip offer a fresh lens on how we shape our cities—and how our cities shape us.We also dive into their publications, including the much-discussed The Urban Revolution is a Fun Sketch and the upcoming Octo Goes to Brussels, unpacking the stories, sketches, and theories behind them.In Part 2, we get personal—discussing the challenges they’ve faced, the motivations that keep them going, and their vision for the future. What do they want their legacy to be? What advice would they give young architects today? And if they weren’t doing this, what would they be doing instead?Links:Email info@strippingarchitecture.comWebsite: www.strippingarchitecture.comOrder the first book: The Urban Revolution is a Fun Sketch Link to the book from our website https://www.strippingarchitecture.com/products/the-urban-revolution-is-a-fun-sketch The second book Octo goes to Brussels - https://www.ulule.com/octopus-architect-goes-in-brussels/Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@stripping_architectureInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/destriparchitectsTiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@stripping_architecture__Keep Up the Good Work. Journalist and author Chris Berdik joins to discuss his new book CLAMOR: How Noise Took Over the World – and How We Can Take It Back, a powerful investigation into how everyday noise has become a public health crisis—and what cities can do about it.Berdik unpacks why noise is more than just loudness, explaining how rhythm, frequency, and context all shape our experience of sound. He explores how neuroscience, design, and policy can work together to create healthier urban soundscapes, and why outdated decibel-based regulations aren’t enough. From Berlin to Detroit, he highlights cities using data, community input, and innovative planning to reduce noise and increase well-being.__Keep Up the Good Work. Albert Edman, Leader for Cities in Transition and Internationalisation Strategist at Viable Cities, as well as RISE North Sweden Coordinator. Together, we dive deep into how Swedish cities are working towards climate neutrality and how this links to the broader vision of the New European Bauhaus (NEB).We begin by unpacking Viable Cities: its mission, the cities involved, and how it operates within Sweden. Albert walks us through the full journey from the first contact with a municipality to actual, on-the-ground transformation sharing concrete examples of projects and methods used along the way.We then explore the New European Bauhaus, a bold EU initiative bridging the worlds of sustainability, inclusion, and aesthetics. Albert shares insights on how NEB has influenced local projects in Sweden, how it helps integrate cultural and social values into urban transformations, and how these dimensions connect to energy systems, mobility, and other technical aspects.__Keep Up the Good Work. We dive into PREFIGURE, an EU-funded research project exploring the intersection of housing inequality and energy poverty across seven European countries. Running from 2024 to 2027, PREFIGURE aims to reimagine how we create fairer, more sustainable cities through innovation, community knowledge, and just transitions.Joining us are Dr. Defne Kadioglu, researcher at Malmö University’s Institute for Urban Research, and Kalina Tcolova, analyst at the Center for the Study of Democracy in Bulgaria. Together, they share the inspiration behind the project, how it’s implemented through a unique blend of quantitative and qualitative methods, and what role the MobiLab – a mobile urban living lab – plays in co-creating solutions with local communities. We explore case studies from Scandinavia and Bulgaria, unpack what a "just energy transition" really means in practice, and discuss how social, policy, and market innovations can become real-life "prototypes of change" in cities across Europe.Prefigure's Links:website: https://prefigure.eu/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/103900398/X: https://x.com/PrefigureEUYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@PREFIGUREprojectDr. Defne Kadioglu, Project Researcher, Malmö University’s Institute for Urban Researchdefne.kadioglu@mau.se Kalina Tcolova , AnalystEnergy and Climate Program Center for the Study of Democracykalina.tcolova@csd.eu__Keep Up the Good Work.
