One of the main enemies is Banner Creighton, who is leading a war against the family. Cara devises a plan to send for Spencer and keep Jacob's injury a secret, as the family fears that their enemies, including Creighton, will try to take advantage of Jacob's vulnerability. The family also faces challenges and tension as they try to survive the ongoing war against Creighton and their other enemies.
