11/10/2024 – Galatians Bible Study – Tim Brown – In these concluding verses Paul places the center of his boasting in the cross of the Lord Jesus Christ. He does so because he knows this is the only means of justification. This has profound practical implications for Christians. Thanks The more we focus on Christ and what He has accomplished, the less we will focus on the world and what we have done. Paul expalins that the only thing that counts is that we become new creations in Christ Jesus. When we walk by this rule he expalins that then we will have the peace and mercy of God. Having fired the final shot agasint the legalist, Paul concludes his letter on the same note on which he began, GRACE!
10/27/2924 – Galatians Bible Study – Tim Brown – This concluding paragraph was apparently penned by Paul himself, and he calls attention to the larger letters he has used in distinction from the script of the amanuensis who had written the body of the letter. He then begins his final warning against the Judaizers in verse 12-17. Giving a few crisp statements Paul makes it clear that these Judaizers are not at all interested in the welfare of the Galatian Christians. Instead they are only concerned about themselves, their own honor and ease, their own freedom from persecution.

Support your teachers with generosity (6:6)
Verses 7-10 four easy-to-remember principles, “the laws of the harvest”:
1. We sow and reap in like kind.
2. We reap in a different season than the one we sow in.
3. We reap more than we sow
4. We must let go of past harvests and focus on sowing for the future today.
10/13/2024 – Galatians Bible Study – Tim Brown –
In verses 1-6 Paul sets forth four distinct imperatives for beleivers that relate to bearing with one another. This week we covered the first two.
1.) Restore those who stumble, wihtout falling into temptation (6:1).
2.) Bear one another’s burdens according to Chrit’s law (6;2-3).
09/29/2024 – Galatians Bible Study – Kris Brackett – Paul concludes his discussion on the deeds of the flesh and the Fruit of the Spirit with a strong call to the Galatian Christians to Live and walk by the Spirit of God.
09/22/2024 – Galatians Bible Study – Tim Brown -Paul’s list of the works of the flesh can be broken down to four general categories:(1) sensual passions, (2) unlawful dealings in things spiritual, (3) violations of brotherly love, (4) intemperate excesses. After lisitng the works of the flesh which are evident to all those observing, Paul concludes with “and things like these” indicating that his list of deeds of the flesh is only representative and not exhaustive. He then says “I warn you, as I warned you before those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Luther says: This is a hard saying, but very necessary for those false Christians and hypocrites who speak much about the Gospel, about faith, and the Spirit, yet live after the flesh. But this hard sentence is directed chiefly at the heretics who are large with their own self-importance, that they may be frightened into taking up the fight of the Spirit against the flesh.
09/15/2024 – Galatians Bible Study – Tim Brown – There are only two possible views of man’s nature: he is seen either as basically good or basically evil. The humanistic view is that he is born morally good, or at least morally neutral. The Bible, however, maintains the opposite, that man is inherently corrupt and depraved in every aspect of his being. The works of the flesh reflect the sinful desires of unredeemed humanness, which are in spiritual warfare against the desires of the Spirit (vv. 16–17; cf. 24). Paul says that the works of the flesh are evident- meaning that which read more...
09/08/2024 – Galatians Bible Study – Kris Brackett – Paul commands the Galatian believers that they should walk by the Spirit even though the Spirit and the flesh are in opposition to one another. Walking by the Spirit is the antidote to libertinism and legalism. When our focus is life by faith through the Spirit then we do not need the law.
08/25/2024 – Galatians Bible Study – Kris Brackett – Paul gives us four fences which confine us so that we can enjoy the freedom which he purchased for us with his precious blood.
08/18/2024 – Galatians Bible Study – Kris Brackett – Six grave dangers posed by false teachers who seek to add law-keeping to the gospel.
08/11/2024 – Galatians Bible Study – Tim Brown – The Galatian believers, so recently set free from sin by their trust in Christ, were now acting as though they were still dependent on some system of rules and ceremonies to make them acceptable to God. So, Paul, begins his transition in his letter from doctrinal explanation to practical exhortation by urging the readers to stand firm in their new freedom. He does so first by showing –Christ’s purpose in redemption (5:1a) 1For freedom Christ has set us free; That’s His purpose! Paul’s 2nd practical exhortation is to resist reenslavement (5:1b–6)
07/28/2024 – Adult Bible Study – Kris Brackett – Three ways to save the church Glorify God Bear with one another Preserve the unity of the Spirit
07/21/2024 – Galatians Bible Study – Tim Brown – Paul now continuing his allegory (analogy) cites Isaiah 54:1 in verse 27: He does so because it graphically described the restoration of Israel to the position of favor with the Lord. So, the fruitfulness mentioned in Isaiah 54:1 references the great increase in believers justified by faith in Christ. Paul concludes his allegory by giving his readers 4 application points Christian believers are children of promise (4:28) Christian believers are persecuted by those of the flesh (4:29) Scripture commands the “casting out” of the slave system (4:30) Christian believers don’t have a slave mother (4:31) No read more...

06/30/2024 – Galatians Bible Study – Tim Brown – In verses 21-23 Paul lays out the histroical facts. He does so by giving us the illustration of the law. Those who were so eager to place themselves under the authority of law needed to understand the implications of such action, as revealed by the particular law which the Judaizers were promoting. Paul then explains the two sons. The one by “a bondmaid” was Ishmael, born to Hagar the Egyptian slave girl. “The other by a freewoman” was Isaac, born to Sarah, the wife of Abraham. The contrast between the two mothers read more...
06/23/2024 – Galatians Bible Study – Tim Brown –This is one of the most important and yet often overlooked passages in Galatians. Its truth can be summarized succinctly: imitation is the solution. Imitating Paul as he imitates the crucified Christ—this is the way forward for the Galatians. This is also the way forward for every Christian, regardless of the situation or circumstances. To help get the Galatians back on track, Paul might have said a thousand different things. But as his first and primary appeal he says, “Brothers, I entreat you, become as I am, for I also have become read more...
