Description

Mempool from XMTP Labs is where we talk about the role of communications in web3.

In blockchains, before transactions are added to blocks they sit in a waiting-room-of-sorts called a “mempool”—short for memory pool. In our experience it’s the lobbies, the waiting rooms, the liminal spaces where the best discussions are had. It’s where we talk about the bleeding edge ideas, do the deep dives, and swim in and out of currents of thought.

This is our Mempool.

How would your world change if your local HOA turned into a DAO?In the emerging world of the blockchain, nothing sends chills down the spine like centralization, because many people involved in the crypto space are often drawn in because of its lack of centralization and the new frontiers for self-governance.Today, Dennison Bertram, co-founder of Tally, dissects and demystifies how clarifying crypto policies will lead to greater decentralization. He explains how the very nature of DAOs makes it difficult to clarify and regulate. So how do you find a middle ground for common-sense regulations to satisfy the government while still retaining the sovereignty that makes crypto so innovative? That is the question that Dennison and Shane pick apart piece by piece and the implications will surprise you including…-Why Uber is more centralized than the Taxi industry ever was?-How DAOs could revolutionize your local Co-op or HOA?-What regulations need to be in place to free up blockchain innovation?Dennison is in the trenches of this issue and is spearheading the clarity needed for crypto to survive and thrive for generations to come.Learn more about how Tally is working to make DAO’s a daily reality here: https://www.tally.xyz/CONNECT ON TWITTER:Shane Mac: @shanemacDennison Bertram: @dennisonbertramThe open protocol and network for secure web3 messaging: xmtp.org
Shane and Seb Audet, the co-founder of Zapper,  dig into the future of DeFi,  NFT finance and how web3 evolves to be useful for non-crypto natives.Seb has a passion for expanding tech’s utility in people’s lives, but to do so, he says, we need to build in a way that reveals the vibrancy of what happens when you move off apps and on to the blockchain. The potential of NFTs as a platform for fostering financial literacy is something that many people do not fully comprehend yet, and Seb thinks it could be a ground-level introduction into the crypto world for people to better understand the blockchain.Seb explains the prospects of DAOs  and their opportunity to bring together individuals with a common goal, possibly even uniting a team of “crypto fans” for the common good of the growing decentralized world. Finally, the concept of reputation is explored, with an emphasis on how Web3 empowers individuals to establish their own reputation, despite the challenges that this may pose. With a call to action for unlocking the economic potential of blockchain and making it accessible to everyone, Zapper is digging into the many opportunities this new world holds with the hope of producing an easy-to-understand way for people to manage and track their crypto assets.Learn more about how Zapper is decentralizing your online identity here: https://zapper.market-app.xyz/CONNECT ON TWITTER:Shane Mac: @shanemacSeb Audet: @sebaudet26The open protocol and network for secure web3 messaging: xmtp.org
How will web3 help users take back control of their identity and data? Every time you log in through Big Tech like Google or Facebook, you are giving them the keys to your entire profile…Listen in while Matt interviews Rocco, co-founder of Spruce, a company building the open-source stack to help users assert control of their identity and data. From the origins of the internet, the goal has always been to get the user in as quickly as possible. This lack of control given to the user has created a data-mining monster bigger than anyone thought possible. With no exit strategy for your data in sight, Rocco and the team at Spruce Systems are aiming to decentralize your identity, putting you back in the digital driver’s seat, and giving you control of your data.Learn more about how Spruce is decentralizing your online identity here.CONNECT:Shane Mac: @shanemacMatt Galligan: @mgThe open protocol and network for secure web3 messagingXMTP.org#crypto #web3 #facebook #google #onlineidentity #decentralizedidentity #instagram #decentralizion #optimisim
According to Packy McCormick, what’s most surprising about the internet isn’t how much it’s changed the world, but how little. In this part two conversation with Not Boring’s Packy McCormick, Shane and Packy discuss the potential of a world where you have as much ownership of your DIGITAL life as what you have in your house, and how that could transform our world.Subscribe to Not Boring by Packy McCormick on Substack: https://www.notboring.co/CONNECT:Shane Mac: https://twitter.com/ShaneMacMatt Galligan: https://twitter.com/mgPacky McCormick: https://twitter.com/packyMThe open protocol and network for secure web3messaging: https://xmtp.org/#crypto  #web3  #notboring  #facebook  #twitter  #instagram  #optimism  #decentralization
Decentralization is bigger than crypto. According to Packy McCormick, it’s part of the natural course of cultural change and needs to be embraced as such. According to Packy, “New technologies shatter old systems, but they help us piece new ones together in previously impossible and superior ways.” With technology in web3 leaning toward a flatter, faster, moreempowering world for the end user, is it even possible to predict where it cango? Subscribe to Not Boring by Packy McCormick on Substack: https://www.notboring.co/CONNECT:Shane Mac: https://twitter.com/ShaneMacMatt Galligan: https://twitter.com/mgPacky McCormick: https://twitter.com/packyMThe open protocol and network for secure web3messaging: https://xmtp.org/#crypto #web3 #notboring #facebook #twitter #instagram #optimism #decentralization
Shane and Matt took a beat to look ahead to 2023 and it came down to one word: portability.Think about the innovation and improved user experience that could be unlocked when we could take our communications, our social graph, our history with our contacts with us. How would our relationship to social apps change when we could just move on?  Also, what would the world look like if more tokens had an intrinsic value and we could escape the token valuation casino?CONNECT:Shane Mac: @shanemacMatt Galligan: @mgThe open protocol and network for secure web3 messagingXMTP.org
