We just got one heck of an Epstein files update. We know that state law enforcement authorities in New Mexico are now investigating Jeffrey Epstein's Zorro ranch. That is the scene of allegations of horrific crimes by Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, and others, and it's good that the New Mexico law-enforcement authorities are FINALLY investigating. But the obvious question is: why wasn't the Zorro ranch searched by law-enforcement authorities when they searched Epstein's home in New York, when they searched his home in Florida, or when they searched his home on his infamous island?Well, we now know the answer to that question - why didn't they search the Zorro Ranch in New Mexico. Donald Trump's Department of Justice told the New Mexico law enforcement authorities to STOP INVESTIGATING! Glenn takes on this dramatic and deeply troubling new revelation. To be an attorney at the Department of Justice, you have to have a license to practice law issued by one of the 50 states or the District of Columbia. Against this backdrop, let's turn to the new reporting: Pam Bondi is trying to get rid of all of the ethical guardrails at the Department of Justice. First, she fired the head DOJ ethics attorney. Then she fired the head of the Office of Professional Responsibility - OPR - the organization that investigates allegations of misconduct by DOJ attorneys. Now Bondi is trying to violate states rights by seeking to prohibit state bar ethics offices from investigating attorney misconduct of lawyers who hold law licenses in their state. But here's the good news: there's an opportunity for we the people to weigh in, make our voices heard, and oppose this latest effort by Bondi to destroy ethical guardrails at the Department of Justice. Glenn sat down with former pardon attorney Liz Oyer to discuss this latest attempt by Bondi to destroy ethical guardrails at the DOJ.See the link below for how you can weigh in and register your opposition. To submit your opposition to this DOJ rule change: Regulations.govSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Donald Trump's quest to prosecute his perceived enemies, isn't going so good for him. Remember when Donald Trump's Department of Justice filed motions to withdraw appeals they had filed in four cases Trump lost. Those cases involved Trump using executive orders to try to punish law firms that displeased him. Trump and his DOJ got crushed in all four cases, but his Department of Justice filed appeals.Well, then the DOJ threw in the towel, filing a motion to withdraw the appeals because they knew they didn't have a shot at winning. What happened next? Apparently, Donald Trump got wind of it and likely told Pam Bondi - 'nope, I am not gonna let you quit these cases or withdraw these appeals.' So like a good little flunky, Pam Bondi and her Department of Justice are now trying to take the towel back and revive the appeals that they told the court they wanted to withdraw. On the heels of that debacle, it looks like the DOJ has bucked Donald Trump again. Remember when Donald Trump wanted his DOJ to prosecute Joe Biden for using an auto pen? Here was the headline at the time: "Trump orders a probe into the Biden administration and its alleged autopen."The New York Times reported a new legal development on the Joe Biden/autopen front, "Justice Department, Under Pressure from Trump Fails to Build Autopen Case Against Biden. Prosecutors in the US attorneys office in Washington were unable to build a case, underscoring the department's increasing inability to follow through on the president's desire to indict his rivals."It sure looks like Donald Trump's DOJ leadership with Pam Bondi, Todd Blanche, and Jeanine Pirro - is crumbling. And it's looking more and more like Donald Trump's entire presidency is imploding.I sat down with former Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg to discuss how it's becoming clearer by the day that Trump's DOJ leadership is circling the drain.Find Dave on Substack: davearonberg.substack.comFind Glenn on Substack: glennkirschner.substack.comSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Thus far, Donald Trump has sent six military members - six of America's sons and daughters - to their death, in what is, by all rational accounts, an unlawful and unconstitutional war. And just so there's no mistake about the fact that we ARE in a war, Pete Hegseth just said at a press conference, "The terms of this war will be set by us." I just sat down with military law expert Dan Maurer. Dan is a law professor and retired Army LTC JAG officer. Dan taught constitutional law and criminal law at West Point, and was an instructor at the Army's Judge Advocate General's School in Charlottesville, Virginia. Dan explains why we are - indisputably - in an unlawful and unconstitutional war.Find Dan on Substack: danmaurer1.substack.com Find Glen on Substack: glennkirschner.substack.comSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
If you look really closely at Pam Bondi's Department of Justice, you can almost see it circling the drain. Yesterday, DOJ attorneys filed a notice with the DC Circuit Court of Appeals saying they wanted to withdraw the appeals DOJ had filed in four cases involving Trump's executive orders that were designed to punish law firms he didn't like. Trump's DOJ had lost all four cases, given that his executive orders were transparently unlawful and unconstitutional. Then today, in an extraordinary flip-flop, the DOJ said they wanted to withdraw their request to withdraw their appeals. In other words, after throwing in the towel, they told the court . . . they want their towel back. This horribly inconsistent and incompetent conduct makes clear that the DOJ is in disarray.Find Glenn on Substack: glennkirschner.substack.comSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
At long last, it looks like federal judges have run out of patience with Trump administration officials who keep ignoring, defying, and violating federal court orders in immigration cases. Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia has been fighting the Trump administration and Trump's dirty DOJ leadership for nearly a year now, ever since he was snatched up in violation his constitutional rights, stuffed on a plane, and sent to a prison in El Salvador, even though he had been convicted of no crime. Ever since he was deprived of his constitutional rights nearly a year ago, Abrego has been fighting, and he has been winning - he's been defeating Trump's dirty DOJ leadership every step of the way.Abrego was back in court, this time in Tennessee, in a criminal case that was brought against him by the Trump administration, in which he filed a motion to dismiss his case based on Trump's vindictive prosecution. This was the long-awaited hearing - an evidentiary hearing - at which government officials testified and were cross-examined by Abrego's lawyers. Fortunately for us, the great legal reporter Adam Klasfeld of All Rise News was in the courtroom. Adam gives us the blow-by-blow breakdown of what went on in court today. Donald Trump unlawfully attacked Iran, and he has entered America into an unconstitutional "war" - that is the word Trump used. And, in the process, Trump has already sent multiple US military members to their death. NPR reported: "Justice Department withheld and removed some Epstein files related to Trump." It sure looks like Pam Bondi's DOJ learned NOTHING from Watergate. What’s the most important lesson from the Watergate scandal: 'if the crime don't get you, the cover-up will.' And yet, at Pam Bondi's Department of Justice, the great Epstein files cover-up continues.Remember Richard Nixon and Attorney General John Mitchell? We've got some good news on the legal front: TRUMP flunky - and United States Attorney for the District of Columbia - Jeanine Pirro, has reportedly decided to stop trying to indict the innocent. Pirro is abandoning her lawless attempt to prosecute six members of Congress who committed no crime.Glenn discusses the implications of this new legal development and how it is yet another indication of how We The People - in this case, the grand jurors serving as the conscious of the community - are defeating Trump and his dirty DOJ leadership. In case you're worried that the federal courts - the federal judges - are weakening in their resolved to hold Donald Trump and his flunkies accountable for their lawlessness and unconstitutional conduct, a federal judge of more than 30 years has said that, regarding masked federal agents roaming the street of American cities: "An anonymous government is no government at all." Longtime federal judge, Joseph Goodwin, excoriated the Trump administration for sending masked agents into the streets of American cities to deprive people of their 4th Amendment right against an unreasonable searches and seizures and their 5th Amendment right to due process of law.The courts continue to be points of light – beacons of light – amidst the Trump-induced darkness.Find Glenn on Substack: glennkirschner.substack.comSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Are the Epstein files creeping closer to Donald Trump and other rich, powerful, influential, privileged people? Well, look at what happened to the person formerly known as Prince Andrew.Once a criminal gets caught in the grips of the rule of law - things often start to happen. Being arrested and facing the prospect of prosecution for your crimes tends to have a way of focusing the mind on one thing in particular: 'how in the hell do I get out of this jam? What can I do to save myself?' One of the things criminals do is begin to tell law enforcement authorities about the crimes of others in hopes of reducing their own charges or criminal exposure. What might Former Prince Andrew and other influential people who are being criminally investigated in countries around the world do with information they might have about the crimes of OTHER influential people? What might they do to try to save themselves? We are seeing repercussions around the world as a result of the release of even just some of the Epstein files. There are criminal investigations underweight in multiple countries. In the United Kingdom a UK ambassador to the US has had multiple search warrants executed on his properties. A former prince has been placed under arrest. Yet here in the United States, from our Department of Justice we get crickets and coverups.Covering up the crimes of others constitutes a crime itself, accessory after the fact, as Glenn explains.Find Glenn on Substack: glennkirschner.substack.comSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

You might recall that, just a few weeks ago, the Trump administration tore down an exhibit in Philadelphia - a public exhibit that documented American history, including an exhibit about nine people enslaved by George Washington at his former home in Philadelphia. On Presidents' Day, Judge Cynthia Rufe, (who, incidentally, was appointed to the bench by another George - George W. Bush) - quoted George Orwell's "1984" in her opinion. She ruled that the Trump administration likely violated the law and she ordered them to restore the slavery exhibit. It seems the federal judiciary will not allow Trump and his flunkies to violated the law in their efforts to whitewash American history and try to bury evidence of America's original sin - slavery. Pam Bondi must go as Attorney General. Whether by resignation, removal and replacement, or impeachment, Pam Bondi must go. She can no longer be allowed to be the Attorney General for the United States . Bondi must go not just because she showed complete and utter contempt for Congress in her recent testimony, Bondi must go because she showed complete and utter contempt, disregard, and disrespect for the victims of Epstein's crimes. At the recent House Judiciary Committee hearing, Bondi literally would not turn and look at or acknowledge the enduring pain of the victims of Epstein's crimes. When the survivors were asked how many of them had requested to meet with the Department of Justice to address the crimes that were committed against them, each and every one raised their hand. When asked how many got to meet with the DOJ, every one of them lowered their hand. Bondi turned her back on the victims of Epstein's crimes. Bondi literally turned her back on the victims of Epstein's crimes in the House Judiciary committee hearing, and she figuratively turned her back on the victims of Epstein's crimes at all other times.Yes, Pam Bondi must go as Attorney General.Find Glenn on Substack: glennkirschner.substack.comSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
First, Senator Mark Kelly defeated Donald Trump's Department of Justice when a grand jury refused to indict him for speaking the truth by saying that military members must disobey illegal orders. Now, Sen. Kelly has defeated Pete Hegseth and the Department of Defense when a judge ruled that Hegseth may not punish Senator Kelly for exercising his First Amendment free speech rights. These rulings are good for the rule of law, good for the Constitution, and points of light shining amidst the Trump-induced darkness.Find Glenn on Substack: glennkirschner.substack.comSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Six members of Congress made a public service video, reminding military members of their absolute obligation to refuse to obey unlawful orders. Though they committed no crimes, Donald Trump demanded that those 6 be prosecuted. Any ethical prosecutor would refuse to seek a grand jury indictment of people who had committed no crimes. But Pam Bondi and Jeanine Pirro engaged in a horrific act of prosecutorial abuse, urging a grand jury to indict the six members of Congress.Fortunately, the grand jurors - sitting as the conscience of the community - just refused to indict the six members of Congress, obviously because they had committed no crime.Find Glenn on Substack: glennkirschner.substack.comSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
So friends, can I ask you a quick question? When you think of Washington, DC, what's the first thing that comes to mind? Politics? The nation's capital? Maybe, a city where somehow we still have taxation without representation?DC has the Congress. It has the executive branch. It has the judiciary. All populated by federal government employees. All public servants. In a very real sense, DC is like the national hub for public service. The person who said that she views DC as a city of service is Kinney Zalesne. And Kinney is now running to be represent the people of DC in Congress. Kinney is running to be DC's delegate to Congress, and I sat down with Kinney to ask her why she wants to represent people of DC in Congress, and why she views DC as a city of service.Kinney Zalesne came to DC in 1995 for what was supposed to be a short stint in the Clinton White House. But she fell in love with the city, and for 30 years has never wanted to live anywhere else. She and her husband Scott have raised four kids here and been active in the community, serving in leadership positions in DC’s schools, pools, parks, and nonprofits.DC gave Kinney opportunities to work across government, business, and the nonprofit sector. After serving as a White House Fellow with Vice President Gore, Kinney was Counsel to Attorney General Janet Reno at the US Department of Justice. She later helped lead the Strategy team at Microsoft. She has rolled up her sleeves in our neighborhoods, where she served as President of College Summit, a global-award-winning nonprofit, founded in a basement in Adams Morgan. College Summit helps students from low-income backgrounds go to college. Kinney was also Board Chair of a school in Ward 4 that doubled in enrollment during her tenure. And most recently, Kinney served as Deputy National Finance Chair of the DNC and National Co-Chair of Women for Harris.Of all those roles, Kinney’s favorite was being President of College Summit (now called Peer Forward). The organization’s mission was to make sure that every student who could make it IN college made it TO college. Kinney built large-scale, diverse, powerful coalitions across the District and then the nation to make sure tens of thousands of local students got the opportunities they deserved. Kinney’s skills and experiences are what DC needs now. She will build a broad-based, lasting, nationwide coalition of people to defend DC and ensure we remain a safe, affordable, and healthy place to live. (cont.) ...and do even a few of these released seditious thugs express even an ounce of guilt? No. No they don't. It's like the orange lunatic felon-in-chief planted 5 million (or some really big number) little Roy Cohn seeds when he --disgracefully-- came onto the political scene around ten years ago. Cohn was THE personal dirtbag lawyer/ muse for orange lunatic until the scumbag--mercifully-- left this world probably more than twenty years back. One of Cohn's main pieces of advice (p.o.s) to OL was: (paraphrase)... whatever you're being accused of, Never Never Ever admit guilt --even if the prosecution has what is known as "an open and shut" case. Even if a jury of your peers agree on a final verdict of....... Guilty! And... step two... Always look and find a scapegoat to blame for the accusation and go after the accusers. Including... yes... the jury of your peers. Call it a sham. Call it an attack on all that is good and decent in this world. This scumbag Cohn was a real "piece of

This seems a bit naive. Firstly, Trump's not one to restrict himself to precedent of any kind. Secondly, his inevitable future abuse of the pardon power (arguably he has already abused it with his J6 pardons) will give cause for Congress/Courts to do away with the pardon power altogether. Such absolute power was always likely to lead to its abuse. Perhaps the orange imbecile will hasten its timely demise?

Thank you, Glenn. What a truly Sad day this is for our beloved country... the 6th Of January 2025. Always remember friends-- these maga (t) thugs have always, and will forever be, on the wrong side of history. And there are more of us than there are of them (and the misinformed/ sad ppl who voted for them last Nov.). Since there won't be any new elections (on a Fed. level) until Nov. of '26, all we are left with for any sense of hope is to constantly keep in contact w/ our Congress persons and Senators: 212-224-3121. And join Progressive groups -- Indivisable.org is recommended. Stay safe and Keep the Faith.

I understand your argument about Fed court judges... but...are we actually willing to take a chance that these innocent ppl won't--somehow-- be proven guilty for something that they didn't do? (ie:maybe fake evidence gets planted--don't wanna wade too far into the "future hypothetical weeds"). Look, I realize that Presidential pardons should be treated like a "break glass for emergencies" kind of situations. But also-- this Not Normal time that we find ourselves in... does seems like a "break glass" kind of time (ex. of not normal: orange criminal plans on issuing pardons to the J. 6 rioting thugs, who-- w/o a doubt-- caused much physical damage and harm to police (just doing their jobs-- security detail) and property of the halls of Congress. Interesting debate to have, though.

Thank you, Glenn. A very informative episode! My take: I'm now (officially) tired of Dems always "taking the high road" in situations like these. When the orange criminal/ rapist/ racist and serial lie maker left office in 2021 (and yeah-- repeating-- He Lost in 2020-21; there's even a tape of him admitting so), he pardoned an almost historically Massive amount of ppl (and many of them were Guilty of corruption or refusing a court order...Steve Bannon...cough cough). If these Maga nut jobs are going to act outside the law, why should Biden? Make it make sense. 🧐
