"WHAT IS YOUR HEART FOR?" Thirty years ago today, a new anime premiered on television in Japan. One that seemed standard fare for the time, giant robots fighting giant monsters, etc. What no one really knew was that it would end up becoming one of the cornerstones of all of modern pop culture as we know it, one that's still analyzed to this day in its storytelling, themes, and artistry. Many people have taken their cracks at discussing it, and now it's our turn. So, tune in as Alec, Brian, and special guest Darby (@gwenstacying) celebrate the thirty year anniversary of NEON GENESIS EVANGELION by looking back on the series, The End of Evangelion, all the manga spinoffs, and even the rebuilds, and discussing what they all mean to them!
WE'RE BACK, BABY! What was supposed to be a short hiatus stretched out over the course of a month. A lot's happened, including things we've waited four years for, so let's get to it. Tune in as Alec and Brian return to Boulder Punch and discuss recent news, such as MAN OF TOMORROW, KNIGHTS OF GUINEVERE, Krondon as Tombstone in SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY, and the four-years-in-the-making first gameplay trailer for Insomniac Games' WOLVERINE!
2008 ISN'T COMING BACK. A big growing sentiment in recent years has been the overall idea that Spider-Man as an IP is wrong nowadays and that whatever's going on currently is an invalid fad that doesn't matter and will fade away. We have thoughts on that. Tune in as Brian and Alec discuss recent news and the current state of the Web-Head -- and why he has changed drastically and permanently.
OR MAYBE NOT WE'LL PROBABLY DO MORE.It's been a year since our Phase 5 pitches. It's time to bring it all home... until we end up doing Phase 7 next year. Come join Brian and Alec as they return to Boulder Pitch with the third chapters of their takes on Post-Endgame MCU, PHASE 6!
Y'ALL KNOW THE DRILL. A tale as old as time. Alec and Brian cover a main topic that's gonna take a while. Alec decides to add a news section anyway. They record for nearly six hours. Splitsies time. Tune in as Alec and Brian take a look at news from past two weeks, including updates on Zach Cregger's RESIDENT EVIL, MY ADVENTURES WITH GREEN LANTERN, LEGO BATMAN, SUPERMAN 2, and SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY!
HE'S BACK. It's been a couple weeks, and everything (of course) decided to happen in that stretch of time. The main thing, however, is a film we've been waiting for something concrete on for a very long time. Lock in, guys. Tune in as Alec and Brian go over as much news as they can from the past few weeks, including Ultimate Spider-Man ending, Peacemaker S2's trailer, All-New Venom's long overdue development, and our first official and set photo looks at Spider-Man: Brand New Day!
FOURTH TIME'S THE CHARM!We've all been waiting for a good Fantastic Four film since we've been born. After many years, Marvel seemed to finally lock it in. So, what do we think of it? Tune in to find out as Alec and Brian go over recent news and dive into the world, heart, and spoilers of Marvel Studios' THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS!
NOW WHAT? It's been a week since Superman premiered and introduced the world to the DCU, and despite some reservations, the film has been a moderate success. In the days since, a lot of stuff is lining up for the future of this new universe, if there even will be one. So, tune in as Alec and Brian go over recent news from the past few weeks, including new Ghost of Yōtei gameplay, new trailers for cursed movies, and all the beans Jimmy Gunn has spilled on what's next for the DCU!
"MAYBE THAT'S THE REAL PUNK ROCK."Well, guys, the promised day is here. After twelve years, numerous false starts, and the studio nearly washing its hands clean of the character altogether, we finally have a new movie about the man of tomorrow. James Gunn's first (let's be honest, genuine) foray into the new DCU has had a whole lot riding on it these past two and a half years since its announcement, and it's seemingly paid off thus far. However, as two fans of the big blue boy scout, what do we think about it? Tune in to find out as Alec and Brian go all-in on characters, spoilers, and more as they discuss the movie Warner Bros. has bet everything on -- DC Studios' and James Gunn's SUPERMAN!
"YOU MADE ME HAPPY..." Silent Hill 2 is one of the crowning achievements of survival horror and video game storytelling, alongside being one of Brian's favorite games of all time. When it was first leaked and announced that a remake would be developed by Bloober Team, he, Alec, and many others feared the worst for the next two years. What nobody could've predicted was the game turning out as well as it did, reinvigorating interest in the franchise. So, all these years later, how does the tragedy of James and Mary Sunderland still hold up? Tune in to find out as Brian and Alec dive into recent news and their experiences playing what many call the best horror game of all time -- SILENT HILL 2!
THEY DID IT! THEY CHOSE A CHARACTER WHO STARTED IN SPIDER-MAN! Yet another news episode coming at y'all! A lot's happened in the past two weeks, so tune in as Alec and Brian discuss as much of it as they can -- including new DCU news from James Gunn, Clayface's casting, Spider-Man: The Animated Series getting an official comic conclusion, the final Fantastic Four trailer, and the Punisher's return in Spider-Man: Brand New Day!
REQUIEM FOR THE DEAD. SUPERMAN FOR THE LIVING. A lot has happened in the past week. Some good. Some bad. Some utterly nothing. Y'all know the drill. Tune in as Alec and birthday boy Brian take a look at recent news and trailers, including SummerGameFest, the Xbox Showcase, Resident Evil Requiem, and Superman!
CHRISTOPHER ECCLESTON WAS RIGHT. The second season of Doctor Who has reached its end. So has, shockingly, the era of Ncuti Gatwa. People were stunned to see the Fifteenth Doctor regenerate after so little time compared to others, and even more so when he regenerated into Billie Piper. The show's future is hanging by a thread, its showrunner has made baffling decisions in the name of content, and we're not confident in things getting better. So, tune in as Alec and Brian discuss recent news -- including new trailers (Wake Up Dead Man, Frankenstein, Fantastic Four, and Alien: Earth), new rumors (Resident Evil 9), Sony's State of Play, and the breakup of Elon and Trump -- as well as the implosion of the current era of Doctor Who!
BRIAN WON. It's been two weeks. Things have happened. Bad things. Some of which will remain til next week. Oh, god. Tune in as Alec and Brian go over news and developments from the past two weeks, including the implosion of Bungie and Marathon, the Lilo & Stitch remake, the cancelled Black Panther game, and the bizarre cowardice of The Last of Us Season 2!
TRAILERS, TRAILERS, & MORE TRAILERS! We figured a news episode would be a nice buffer after the past few episodes. Unfortunately, everything under the sun decided to happen in the past week. Break out the popcorn, we're gonna be here for a bit again. Tune in as Alec and Brian go over recent news (including the return of Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones), and all the trailers from the past week -- including PEACEMAKER Season 2, SPIDER-NOIR, IRONHEART, and SUPERMAN!
"WE OWN YOU NOW." Back in 2022, it was announced that Phase 5 of the MCU would wrap up with an adaptation of Thunderbolts, seeming to be Marvel's answer to Suicide Squad. Very quickly, the team lineup left a lot to be desired, and as production kicked off, not many had faith in it reigniting the MCU. Several months of trailers and an entire movie later, it's safe to say a lot of us ate our words. The most unlikely group of anti-heroes have assembled to pull Marvel from the brink on the big screen, telling a beautifully painful story about loneliness and mental health, and we're here to delve into it all. So, tune in as Alec, Brian, and special guests Darby (@gwenstacying) and Trey (@HeyGuysItSpidey) dive into recent news and the biggest surprise hit Marvel's had in ages -- THUNDERBOLTS* (aka THE NEW AVENGERS)!
"THE ONLY THING I'VE EVER REALLY WANTED... WAS TO BE UNDERSTOOD." After working on Gravity Falls, writer and artist Dana Terrace looked to produce her own off-the-wall animated series about the supernatural. After many revisions, the show would finally premiere in 2020 -- quite literally changing the game for animated kids' shows and queer/neurodivergent rep (much to the chagrin of Disney). While it didn't get to end the way it wanted to, thanks to certain suits who didn't believe the data that it was successful, it still managed to end with a bang. Two out of three people today watched it along the way. One of them just finished it three weeks ago. Time to yap. Tune in as Alec, Brian, and special guest Darby (@gwenstacying) talk about one of their favorite animated shows of all time -- THE OWL HOUSE!
WE DID IT AGAIN. Once again, we are doing an episode with one of our friends. And once again, we have to split the news section into its own episode. Tale as old as time, etc. Tune in as Alec, Brian, and special guest Darby (@gwenstacying) go over recent news from the past week, from Star Wars Celebration, to WrestleMania, to trailers for Doom: The Dark Ages, Ghost of Yōtei, and Predator: Badlands!
"WE ARE THE CITY WITHOUT FEAR." In 2021, three years after the final season and cancellation of Daredevil, Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio returned as Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk. In 2022, four years after said season and cancellation, a new revival series was announced. In 2023, five years after, the crash and burn of the original production ensued, causing a complete creative overhaul not just for the series itself, but the whole of Marvel Television. And now, nearly seven years on from A New Napkin and over three years on from Hawkeye and No Way Home, a new season of the Man Without Fear is here. So, did it come out of the cutting room unscathed? Tune in to find out as Alec and Brian discuss recent news (such as the new Fantastic Four trailer) and dive into a massive spoiler-filled discussion of DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN - Season One!
"YOU DON'T GET TO DESTROY WHO I AM." After the Devil of Hell's Kitchen's second season released, the Netflix corner of the MCU was on a bit of a downturn. While there were fan-favorite highlights such as Luke Cage Season Two and The Punisher Season One, others such as the former's first season, Jessica Jones Season Two, all of Iron Fist, and -- arguably most disappointing of all -- The Defenders, it seemed like this side of the MCU was doomed to fizzle entirely. When the Man Without Fear's third season was set to come out, many worried it would suffer that same fate. Probably why it was all the more surprising that it not only turned out to be the best season of the show, but arguably the best season of live action comic book television overall. So, how does it hold up? Tune in to find out as Alec and Brian take a look at the third and (technically not, thank god) final season of Marvel's DAREDEVIL!
