Neal Francis is currently touring worldwide, promoting his most recent album, 'In Plain Sight.' I had a chance to catch up with him to discuss how he found his passion for music at a young age, what his first performances were like, and what role his 70s aesthetic plays in his life. When it comes to writing music and playing shows, Neal tells me, "I try to work on being less aware of myself, and I sort of just let it go." Neal Francis includes performs "Can't Stop The Rain," "Problems," and "Alameda Apartments." Before playing the songs, Neal Francis gives us an insight into the inspiration for each piece. He has a unique point of view that you won't want to miss; press play and go on this journey into the mind of Neal Francis!
Wildside was a metal band formed in 1988, at the pinnacle of the Hollywood Hair Metal craze, by guitarist Benny Rhynedance and singer Drew Hannah. Both were 1986 Hollywood Hair Metal transplants from the pre-grunge Seattle music scene, which was then dead as a doornail. With legendary Led Zeppelin record producer Andy Johns at the helm, Wildside recorded their debut CD in secret at Eddie Van Halen's personal home studio, and also at the renowned A&M studios in Hollywood throughout 1991. Master metal mix-meisters Steve Thompson and Michael Barbierio mixed the CD to near perfection. They had mixed and produced many big hair rock bands in the 80's. Capitol Records had a slick package to market to the metal masses. How could they lose? Let's catch up with Drew Hannah and his new project "80s Metal Recycle Bin" on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtDHvKYprwccUtRdCvB17Wg
Matt Lowell is with me tonight from the Los Angeles-based indie rock band Lo Moon. Including live performances of "Carried Away," "Expectations," and "Dream Never Dies" from the recent album 'A Modern Life.'
The group is with me talking about the origins of how the band met and formed nearly 10-years ago. As a band growing up in Dublin, Ireland, they were exposed to American culture through media and entertainment; now that they can travel all around the states playing music, they say they love the experience. And their "oh my gosh" moment is described more as moments (plural). They say, "we have a lot of them... every time you come here, even walking down a suburban street, is liking being in a movie… L.A. really blows our mind." Including live semi-acoustic performances of "It Won't Always Be Like This," "Cheer Up Baby," and "Totally."
I'm here with two very talented blokes! Newman and Unger-Hamilton tell us some of the differences between British and American audiences and lifestyles, plus they also share details about the outfits they both strive to rock. They also reminisce back on the moment when they realized that alt-J had reached the point where it could support them financially & be the focus of their career. If you've wondered about the story of how the group got their name, well, Newman and Unger-Hamilton go into detail, tracing their steps back to how they came to call themselves alt-J. Including live acoustic performances of "Hard Drive Gold," "U & Me," "Chicago," and “Tessellate.”

United Airlines reported better-than-expected quarterly profit of $942 million. But that’s not what’s interesting here. As always, Taco Bell will give fans a free Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos Taco if any MLB player manages to steal a base. However, this year Taco Bell is changing things up to make the promotion a home run. A new study finds that some people really are “mosquito magnets” and it probably has to do with the way they smell. The researchers found that people who are most attractive to mosquitoes produce a lot of certain chemicals on their skin that are tied to smell. And bad news for mosquito magnets: The bloodsuckers stay loyal to their favorites over time. Bad news for Millennials and Gen X. The emojis we use may be making us seem old. Gen Z is now canceling the ‘Thumbs Up’ emoji. They say its rude and hostile, and they feel attacked whenever it's used in the workplace.
